The Audiophile Song - Who Can Relate?

Simple enough question. Maybe the questions should be: who can’t relate?

Have fun (some potty mouth in the vid)

Audiophile Forced To Sell His Entire System - High End Audio Is Over! (youtube.com)

(How do I get the video to show here? - I suppose I should know after all these years posting :)

Thanks, that was fun (here's a link - pasted the address of the YTVID to the icon just to the right of the smiley face).

Thanks for sharing rooze.  Very funny song/video, certainly made me smile. Been an audiophile for more than 55 years now, pleased to report I am no where near as crazy as the guy in the video.

Cool, this reference audiophile track ought to be played at all the audiophile shows instead of that... ’God saved some petrified goof queen’ (over and over).

That's a great song + video!! Creative, and definitely captures the nature of our disease.

I will say, if I got into speaker rolling like that, I probably would've been burned out of this hobby years ago. It totally shakes up the whole system balance and then you might have to swap EVERYTHING all out again. Picked Tannoys early on, stuck with them, and have been happy. I roll everything else like mad, but having the speakers "anchored" gives me a shard of sanity.

When I did change speakers - even from one Tannoy to the next Tannoy up - that dove me absolutely mad for a long time trying to dial in the system again.

@rooze

Now that’s funny.  I don’t dare play it for my wife, but it is well done.

Thanks for sharing.

Finally, a great song that'll stick in my head like a nagging conscience. 👍

As for how to post a YT video here, one used to just copy the link and paste it right here where you type but that feature went away a while ago. Now it's just a link. Maybe someone can give Tammy a heads up on that.

All the best,
Nonoise

God, that’s a funny video/song!  I did play it for my wife like a crazy fool thinking she’d get the joke since I’m not near as  bad as the poor junkie in the video, but her response was predictable: “I can relate”, she said. Really?  I mean, come on!  Gentlemen, as noted above, do not show this video to your wives.

Thanks for this awesome video. Both music and lyrics are simply awesome. What a great song!

Vocals and instruments by Celia Geliani Frattine. You put out an album, I buy.

I would like to show this to my wife, but I've finally got her thinking I'm sane and she's crazy.

@tsacremento I asked my wife the same question, she thought it was hilarious and posted it on FB.

@acman3 that's funny

OP & y’all.....Look for the shirts where the accessories and hardware gets pushed aside... ;)

I’m not going to show it to my spouse, either....a suggestion I made tonight went over brilliantly *pats own back* and I don’t want to FIU...

Don’t have a box fetish of that magnitude...dining rooms have been waylaid for decades unless you’ve a family relic.... a 10th of 5...? Perhaps.....*L*

@audiodidact : Yup, that’s mine all over too.....She’s pissed off at the qty. of remotes that are just for the tv/sat/outboard sound (dedicated to just that task...)

If she had to listen through the main system....

No one would find my remains....

A very well fed dog and 2 cats, perhaps....

Don't eat any hamburgers, meatloaf ("...every slice comes up....), spaghetti with meat sauce, sausage, etc.

@acman3

"I would like to show this to my wife, but I've finally got her thinking I'm sane and she's crazy."

The rest of us need to know how you made that happen ;)

video was fine, music not so much. Actually need something to wash it out of my head.

I think it was BB.King who once said something like "Baby, it don't count when you're high."

Cracked me up!  Shared it with my long time audio busy but decided against sharing it with my wife.  Think it will just piss her off and get us in another one of those conversations (lectures) about audio, buying records, etc.  Don’t want to go there!

Obviously written by someone who has gotten up close and personal with the subject matter.  Very relatable.  And, hilarious.

Thanks for sharing.  I shot this link off to some of my audiophile friends.  Made their day(s).

Yes, hilarious and relatable (except for the audiophiles dress code). Thanks for sharing.

I like the fact that not many people have been 'triggered' by the video, LOL... I was expecting more push back, based on a couple negative comments on different forums.

Judging by some of the comments on the video itself many of us can relate, and we don't take ourselves too seriously, which is good to see... Love also the fact that a few spousal units commented on the vid...

I played that for my lady and she though it was hysterical.  I should note that she calls this hobby "your obsession " and we each have our own place so theres no WAF involved here. .

The sad irony of life is she loves music but has really bad hearing.... she gets it though....

CDC. This is actually why it’s great being an audio dealer!   I had a small store back in the early to late 80’s.  I just brought home whatever I wanted and when I got tired of it or wanted something different I just brought it back to the store and sold it as open box/store demo/new warranty and took something else home.  It was great!

My goodness, that was a hoot! But I think you have to be married to fully appreciate the profound mess this young man is in. I'm on my third (and last) marriage and it's taken me twenty years to learn what not to say to my wife. I had the sense to not show this to her. by the way I own a good part of his speaker equipment and two of the amps

I sent it to my wife, sister and my audio and music friends. Funny!

Not me though as I got rid of 90% of old equipment, especially speakers (have two systems and two sets of speakers) after 55+ years in audiophilia.

Also, I’ve sold/disposed of 18,000+ records in the past 35 years. I am not a collector but a listener. My ground floor of my home is 5,700’ and I want my living room to look like a living room so I built a separate, isolated listening room (see my profile for details).
