"The room can totally wreck, or make, a system"
Research proved that in a live musical environment, approximately 30% of what we hear is direct sound while 70% is reflected from walls, ceilings and floors and only reaches our ears a few milliseconds after the direct sound. The human brain uses ...
LoFi
Question for everyone - what would you use to put together a lofi, musical system?
"The room can totally wreck, or make, a system"
Too bad all speakers aren't as easy as Ohm. You tell them the room volume and they give you the appropriate speaker. I'd rather start with room friendly speakers. From what I hear, 1st order like Thiel are the worst. Even my B & W with steep ...
R2R next? Don't like ESS
I've been through a number of ESS Sabre dacs and they're not for me.  IMO, they lack a certain transparency IME, transparency is their strong point.
I find myself "tuning out" anymore.....is the magic fading?
Don't worry. You'll be back.

I call my hi-fi system "The lab". It has nothing to do with music. I just like playing with gear and see it sounds. I’ll never forget my first experience with modern hi-fi. It was Monitor Audio Silver and Creek electronics. "I’m hearing too much"...

Does anyone listen to the radio anymore?

Does anyone listen to the radio anymore?
@devinplombier getting a decent antennae is important. I have a Fanfare FM-2G omni and a Winegard directional can aim at weak distant stations. The Marantz has dual antennae inputs. Also has wide and narrow signal selection.

What exactly is PRaT???
Typical loudspeaker step response: TAD Micro Evolution One loudspeaker The tweeter’s output leads that of the midrange, which in turn leads that of the woofer. How the heck do you think you will hear PRAT when all three driver’s are out of sync?...
Does anyone listen to the radio anymore?
I think tuners can offer a different listening experience. Analog sound and as @baylinor said, some stations are hi-res and sound really good. I first had a Fanfare. Later got a Marantz ST6000 before their quality went way down. Day Sequerra, Ma...
Does anyone listen to the radio anymore?
@jimcrane Does streaming count? Sure, radio is radio. I think of local college stations or ones that live-stream local concerts. I ran my tuner through my CDR (set to standby). Then when something came on that I liked, could just press "reco...
