What Meatloaf and Beer Have Taught me about Audiophiles Hats off to Betty Crocker for making a simple recipe anyone can enjoy. I love meat loaf. Not mom’s day old, dried up, taste like paste, covered in ketchup, meat loaf. But meat loaf seasoned to perfection and drenched in gravy. We need more Mitat...
How hot is too hot? "We’re all Devo Grandpa." Devo, the New Wave band, based their work on the theory of "de-evolution," which posits that humanity is not evolving forward, but rather regressing or devolving, particularly due to the negative influence of con...
Room treatment can be addictive @mylogic haha, my thoughts too. Glad not taken the wrong way.
What Meatloaf and Beer Have Taught me about Audiophiles Ordering now. Look forward comparing to Audioquest cobalt.
What Meatloaf and Beer Have Taught me about Audiophiles @erik_squires a coffee or espresso flavored beer would probably be divine.. Have you suggested it to him? @mapman I have a $80 DAC that I think sounds great. Which one? I would like to give it a try.
Throwing 2 High End brands together will not automatically equal success. Thoughts? My thought is: "Most of the time, Hi-end audio is not so hi-end after all." And that is sad for everyone. For example give Quad ESL63 to an ATC guy and see who is happy, In hi-end audio, preferences are more important than SQ?

barefootsound How about yg acoustics dual coherent the crossover coherent in both time and frequency domains? yg-acoustics DualCoherent You got me thinking about single driver vs. time aligned multi driver. What do you think about Fujitsu Ten Eclipse TD71...
barefootsound Sounds like you have a background in studio monitors. What do you think about nearfield vs. farfield listening for rock and techno. Would it sound more "right" because it is mastered nearfield? Most people here listen to jazz, quartet, classical, ...
barefootsound I lost interest in them after reading the pro reviews at Sweetwater. More of an analytical tool than for musical enjoyment. Ruthlessly revealing, shows everything on the recording, and if you have bad recordings speaker will show that bad sound. P...
10dB resonant peak at 40Hz I think I was missing the point. You are using a subwoofer to break up the 40Hz standing wave produced by the loudspeaker? Not to produce bass itself?
Stereophile reviews the active Grimm LS1C They make a big deal of the tweeter and midwoofer but the driver used in the sub is not listed. What do you think they use for midwoofer? Do you know the diameter? Maybe SEAS Excel W16NX-001 (E0049-08) 6" Magnesium Cone Woofer ?
10dB resonant peak at 40Hz My room is 13 x 15. I can try to single sub aimed at the wall. Does it help if the speakers do not go below 70Hz? @deep_333 Modal peaks will ’linger’ and kill all your room resolution. Not clear what you mean. The 2 subs will produce this? ...
10dB resonant peak at 40Hz The best way to break up standing waves is by using subs placed asymmetrically about the room. They must not be active above about 80Hz else they will attract attention to themselves. This approach to dealing with standing waves is known as a Di... |
