The Disappearing Act
It depends on the recording, if some engineer is set on a sound coming out purely from the left speaker or right speaker, it will emanate from there. Think Electric Ladyland from Hendrix early stereo experiments. For engineers who like to spread i...
What is the first thing you do when you unwrap a new vinyl record?
Definitely clean it via ultrasonic first and most importantly, catalog it, listen to it in full, and write down my impressions of it in the catalog, about the sound quality, pressing quality and music quality. With over 2k vinyl, it is a critical ...
JAYS Audio transport upgrade?
+1 @stuartk  The CDT2-MK3 is doing everything I need and more, specially if it requires twice the money to upgrade to the CDT3. Not that I balk at spending 5k for a component since I have well over 50k in my system. But the true reasoning is that...
Music for Working Creatively – I need your help!
@dynamic_driven  More in the prog alt rock mold, not too hard, elaborate and upbeat: - Puscifer / Condition of my parole - Beck / Midnight - OSI / Blood - Pineapple Thief / Dissolution - Lunatic Soul / Fractured On the electronic front and ...
What devices have you found useful when inspecting your stylii for cleanliness?
I don't wait for it to get dirty to clean it. I just simply cue the styli up and down 4 or 5 times on a piece of Mr. Clean magic eraser after every couple records. It never gets dirty.
Acoustic Panel Help
@audiodidact  First thing first. What part of the sound are you trying to improve? Clarity, bass, soundstage, depth? That will tell us what direction to go.
another one passes.

Having a Flashback Friday - Airplane Induced
Circa early 70s, Golden Earring in a small club located in a castle along the shores of lake geneva, Switzerland. I'll spare you the psychedelics used that night, but I remember making an eye to eye connection with their lead guitarist for most of...
More potential bad news for some big names...
Get over it.
Gustard X30 DAC
That would be awesome as my U18 barely gets warm. Test it after two hours. It does get warmer on the right side if I remember correctly.
Gustard X30 DAC
LOL @sls883  All I know is the X26 has always been the hottest running component in my equipment line-up. Twice as hot as my Parasound Halo A21+. First 6 watts of pure A. 2x500 watts @4 ohms. Let's just say, over time, it's uncomfortably hot. How...
Gustard X30 DAC
Obviously the cost of the X30 allowed for a better clock since the C18 alone costs more than the X26, R26 or A26. Not what I read about the heat of the X30, but glad to hear you are as happy with it as I am with my setup.
Gustard X30 DAC
I would imagine it's another winner from Gustard. I have been a Gustard guy for years. I have both the X26 and A26. The X26 sounds excellent but can be a tat grainy in the highs so I moved it to a secondary system. The A26 took care of that issue....

Rest easy, the blue/green lights will remain.
