Would I be wasting my money to get a turntable?
Get a turntable.  Get some of your favorite albums.  Then, if you’re like me, an obsessive audiophile, the rest will follow.  See you in 1 year.
BEST SPEAKER THAT COMES TO LIFE AT LOW LISTENING LEVELS
@kjl1065,  +1 @porchlight1     That is EXACTLY what I've done in my system: I have Maggie 1.7is (modded w/ outboard crossover upgrade--but that's another story), and have the Schitt Lokius sitting between a Prima Luna 300 preamp and a Parasound ...
Who positions their speakers straight ahead (zero tow in) and why.
I have 1.7is w/  about 20-25 degree toe-in, tweeters inside in a fairly large room and the soundstage is pretty wide for me.  I sit 9ft away and the sweet spot is  about 5ft across.  In my room, the soundstage varies from just the sweet spot to de...
If a tree falls in the forest…
Hey, @rvpiano,  I was in New York this weekend, would’ve loved to stop by Long Island for a few hours to check out your system, but we were on a family trip to visit our oldest son on a tight schedule. I live in Southern California, and I  would ...
How do you decide what to listen to? Same old stuff?
I’ve just completed installing IKEA Kallax shelves for vinyl and CDs in our home office, enough to hold about 1,000 LPs and CDs.  I’ve decided to create a system that will allow me to make selections based on genre/mood: for instance, Jazz/Mellow/...
Streaming from a TV
My TV is also the hub for AV eARC to the receiver then pre-out to pass-through of preamp which will feed the L&R fronts only. The receiver takes care of the Center channel and the surrounds. But when I want to stream music from TV (YouTube/Tin...
Acoustic Panel Help
Thanks All, for the helpful input, advice, etc.  The sound I am currently getting is very good, soundstage-wise, with good center imaging.  It's the wiring coming out of the wall I want to cover-up with the acoustic panels,  and because these are d...
Acoustic Panel Help
@bdp24  Thanks so much!  I’ll look into them right away.
Receiver Too Weak?
OP-One more thing..(my Columbo...) I really got as big boost in my HT system when I used the pre-out to a separate 3 way amp (It was an Acurus 200x3) to handle the fronts and center channel.  I mean EVERYTHING changed then and there.  My setup wa...
Receiver Too Weak?
Op, Here's my short list to solve what I'll call your HT amplification problem: Can't hear details (dialogue, or otherwise), (plus, maybe weak soundstage?):  1. Mostly HT: high sensitivity speakers for sure (95db or more) 2. Size of your room? ...
Receiver Too Weak?
OP, this very issue is what set me on the road to upgrading from a so-so HT system to what I like to think is a fairly decent hi-fi system that allows for TV intergration via  HDMI or Optical, depending on what I’m looking at ( for instance, multi...
Ken Fritz's $1M Dream System update
To hell with all this bleeding heart nonsense about wives and kids. Put your money where your mouths are, sell all your gear and give your paltry donations to the widows and orphans of dead selfish audiophiles.  I’m with Ken. He tried. God, he tri...
Lack of Surround Sound Signal from TV to Processor... Why?
Sorry, OP for the incomplete advice. I use my optical out from my LG OLED for 2.0 channel output only, (when I want to stream Youtube videos, Tiny Desk, etc....). That way I can place the TV output through my 2.0 Hi-fi system, bypassing the AV rec...
Lack of Surround Sound Signal from TV to Processor... Why?
@freediver  Yes, I stand corrected:   https://www.google.com/search?q=toslink+support+multichannel+output%3F
Lack of Surround Sound Signal from TV to Processor... Why?
OP, are you saying your outputting from your TV with optical cable, not HDMI?  If that is the case (I certainly could have missed something in your post but...)  you can only get 2.0 from optical.  You need HDMI for multichannel sound.  And you go...
