I don’t see why everyone is missing MC. For myself, I am enjoying the quiet and no condescending attitudes. Good riddance.

@tubebuffer your post is offensive. Maybe you should be put in time-out as well. |
@pdreher ...I think he already was(is) in the form of an alter ego😁 |
@pdreher , yes, he does that sometimes...puts down liberals and thinks its cute. |

There were several Raven owners who did just that in the thread by Kevin Deal. They had owned both and chose Raven over the PL. Of course the anti MC group never paid any attention to that. But it was there. There are 2 sides to every story. Most of the dirt which was thrown at Raven was not new except to the uninformed. What research I did shows that The Raven owner had divulged this info early on. he hadn't tried to hide it I have not heard the Raven so I cannot say |
My only discovery in audio is vouching for a piece of gear so good it is is erroneous.. I vouch for the three embeddings controls and expecially after electrical and mechanical embeddings the acoustic treatment and control.. When you have a room under control no UPGRADE is a tentation any more.. Why? is it because my system is the best ? not at all... It is because music is natural and living and vouching for a better amplifier will appear to me useless rant... Acoustic is key to audio nothing else...

Those are usually the posts that bring a smile to my dial. |

@bigbrox I had a Raven Blackhawk for a month or two. Okay sound not the end all be all that Millercarbon claimed. Kinda clear since he is selling his. Also your speakers would hate the raven. Will say Raven builds some nice speakers and cables. |
I don't know why everyone is so down on MC. I thought he had some good insights and I picked up some good information from him. Frankly., there were (are) other posters who were (are) fragrantly guilty of ad hominem attacks on each other. I just dismiss their comments as childish and non-credible. MC does seem to have been guilty of a little hypocrisy by pushing the Raven and the Townshend pods. As far as the pods, I believe The Absolute Sound spoke well of them and so I'll give then a shot based on their recommendation. |
I don’t really miss MC but he does have a lot of knowledge I can benefit from. As for George, I do miss his knowledge, +2 to bring back George. What’s the deal with MC, 30-days or more? oldhvy - I had no idea how much George posted about fuses. I mostly just went on about my business when I saw many about the subject. I do think the loss in revenue was also at play here. I now know one needs to tread lightly, still learning. |

I have had a Raven for the past year after a Cary Audio Sl 80 F1 signature and a Hegal H390 and I can tell with my system, I noticed a significant and positive improvement in my Soundstage, depth, width and height. The air between instruments was more defined. Is it my end all, be all amp, no. But for the money relative to the other amps I had, this was a nice upgrade. Part of the hobby is enjoying the music and striving for that emotional goose bumps experience. Hope this helps as I am like a lot of us here...learning, growing and enjoying the ride. |
I don't care where he is. It really gets old when certain people constantly derail interesting threads with politics, medical advice, and insisting you buy the products THEY like. Quite a few members quit posting altogether. Why bother trying to share information and experience if the thread is just going to be trashed and probably deleted? This is weird probably, but I thought geoffkait(spelling?) was hilarious when he was here.He did get on a few people's nerves though:-) |

The thread that was lost in the Raven thread was that Raven had put up a video implying that Primaluna is a product made with cheap components and Coolie labor for a huge markup, whereas Raven was an American made product where you get every nickel you paid for it, and Deal opened up the bottom of the respective products and showed what they were made of. It was primarily the Raven claim he was disputing, not making any particular explicit claim about relative sound quality. He didn't deny the Raven was a good sounding piece of equipment. |
I hope those who are former posters here (or on hiatus) remain in good health, especially so during these times. Other than that, why would the comings and goings of those on the forum be of such concern? This is just an audio group. If these folks were really your friends, you’d have alternative ways of contacting them, right? |
I want to make this observation: with MC gone, temporarily or permanently, we as a group seem obsessed with MC’s absence. He’s probably enjoying that --as he would say: "rent free." It’s like a bad relationship or something. The last time the issue came up, I said I didn’t care whether he was going to be banned or not; I’d just ignore the threads that get contentious. Without his presence, he is "still here" in our minds. No reproach- just an observation. Bill |
@heretobuy +1 on keeping the Raven attack/PL counter on point. Not a global generalization, but a specific charge rebutted by specific evidence tailored to that charge and nothing more. |
Well thanks, I'll try to remember that. As you can tell my reading and writing skill are a product of my OJT. It sure had nothing to do with grade school or any school for that matter. The school of hard knocks.. LOL No time or money in those days. Me and my Big brother.. That makes good sense, since you brought it up. That's my two cents worth. To young, to old, just right.. 153624. Inline 6 firing order. See I share.. :-) They are all the same.. |
