And a Ho! Ho! Ho! To All! Wonderful Winter Solstice!
There Is Nothing Like the Real Thing - Our State of the Art I don't live in a concert hall or a music venue so I never expect what I hear to sound like the 'real thing', whatever that may be, as even at the concert hall or music venue, it will sound very different depending on where in the venue you're lis...
Please explain mono Unless the quality of the stereo version is awful, I'll generally go with those and not the mono. Among those 'awful' stereo versions are those early Beatles records where all the vocals are in one channel. Those I go with mono every time.
Tom petty record misprint @fdroadrunner - the first album I saw that was 3-sides, with one blank one, was Johnny Winter's 'Second Winter'....
Balanced wiring for Sennhesier 800 S I've used both Lavri and Moon Audio Black Dragon balanced headphone cables and they sound fine....
How Many Times Do You Have To Listen To Understand A Piece Of Music? Some of my favorite artists I love the music right away, but can take at least 5 or 6 listenings before I can even figure out what the song is doing....
Why Do ~You~ Still Play CDs? I still play CD's because a lot of things I like are not available on vinyl. I also buy large CD box sets like those of the Grateful Dead.
What is your go-to online place to buy physical medium of music? And why? If I can find something on Amazon and the price is good, I'll generally go with that just because I know if there's a problem with it, returning it couldn't be easier. Otherwise places like Music Direct...
HiFiMan - A Contronym - A Story Retold @jsalerno277 - you can't really audition a Modhouse unless you buy one from somebody nearby, used. They're made to order and sold directly. And there's like a year waiting list; I got mine a lot sooner as I got the Modhouse/Enleum package.
HiFiMan - A Contronym - A Story Retold @jsalerno277 - I also recently got Modhouse Tungsten DS. Those are a different kettle of fish from the Susvaras altogether, but I like them equally.
HiFiMan - A Contronym - A Story Retold I've got Hifiman Susvara, and while their sound is superb, I've never liked the design of Hifiman cans, especially that cheap headband mechanism. I sure wish they made something that sounded that good that had the look and feel of Meze Empyrion or...
The HARD ROCK & HEAVY METAL Thread Continued @tcutter - in my college dorm back in the early 70's, that first Captain Beyond was VERY popular - excellent album. And the drumming is just insane...
Is the microwave the perfect model for audio marketting? @erik_squires - that's interesting - for me, I need the light some manual temp and time controls and a revolving platter; I've got a Sharp Carousel II that I've had for almost 35 years, and it still works fine, though sometimes I have to wack it o...
Has anyone here had any dealings with Tekton, particularly their subwoofers @devinplombier + 1 I would never, ever buy from a company that threatened reviewers with legal action. While I could afford their gear, I would never buy anything from dCS for that reason. I've never heard Tekton speakers so I'll say nothing abou...
It Was Twenty Years Ago Today! @fastfreight - awesome! Thanks for the correction; I didn't think they were still doing all of 'Dark Side', but they did have 2 sets.... I did see them at Merriweather Post on the 'Dark Side' tour... |
