Having a Flashback Friday - Airplane Induced
@jsalerno277 - very well said! I don't have any use for GD studio albums; to me, that has always been besides the point; they were always all about live performances. But I do have every one of the big annual box sets they've released, and I've go...
Having a Flashback Friday - Airplane Induced
@jsalerno277 - I'm a Deadhead! But I don't need to 'flash back' as I listen to them just as much now; that's timeless music.  @jtcf - yes, I enjoyed looking through the windowpane on several occasions, too!  @thecarpathian - went from being a hi...

@arcam88 - that sounds a lot like my old buddy at college, Purple Microdot! Yes, most any music did different things under that influence. A big fave was Country Joe and the Fish's 'Electric Music for the Mind and Body'....
Why does USB feature so much in discussions about DACs when the newer HDMI seems better?
@richardbrand - can't say for sure, but I'd guess that most people who stream do it from their phones....
HiFi legends ageing and going deaf
I would guess that most of these companies have younger people working for them too who could 'extra pairs of ears', even if there is just one designer, who is older.
Audio Desk cleaner.....still available?
I've had a Mk 1 DeGritter for several years now and have cleaned many hundreds of records in it and it works perfectly today, just like it did when I first bought it. These are built VERY well. Mk II DeGritters seem to be available at many retaile...
DAC shopping - Trying to sift through the Hype. Can I trust the reviews these days ??
I trust written and video reviews at least as much as I do anonymous postings on message boards and forums. I do research using a number of different sources, including written and video reviewers, and forums, to reach a conclusion. That said, I'v...
No God No! Say it Ain’t So!
@tkrtrb125 - 1st World Problem? What does that have to do with anything? This is an audiophile website with audiophile forums. Which world do you think would be more appropriate for discussion purposes?

How do you pick your gear? Tips and insights are welcome.
Personally, I learn about new gear becoming available via YouTube videos, and I watch reviews on there and do further research in online articles, forums, etc. If I can, I'll try to audition, but that sound in the shop may not be at all what it so...
ISO: Tube headphone amp for Planar headphones
I'd recommend the Quicksilver Headphone amp, and it should fit nicely in your budget.... Excellent out of the box and even better with some judicious tube rolling. https://quicksilveraudio.com/products/headphone-amplifier/
Do speakers need to be re-broken in?
My experience with speakers is that some sound great right out of the box, and some sound like the components of the speaker have never met each other before, until after 150 hours or so of playing time. Same with headphones. Nothing to do with an...
Friends hi-fi system not very good, what do you do or say?
I have a friend who is a rock star, and he's got more vinyl albums than many record shops, but his sound system is about on par with a 1970's Radio Shack setup. I tell him he should bring some of his records over to my place some time so he can he...
