Thirty Days in the Hole

Is that where MillerCarbon is? Can we expect to see him on the 9th?

128x128russ69

@russ69 you indicate something may happen on the 9th specifically? I guess we will see. Someone must have a crystal ball and is not sharing their findings...

if he does come back on the 9th, he'll be backed up. will have lots to say. have your ponchos ready.

Sounds like he may have his publicists/promoters working the angle.  I'm looking to hire the Kardasian publicists myself.    Can't argue with results.

Lest we forget his insidious undercurrent of Homophobia with his several posting of short youtube clips strongly featuring the dialogue “ Are you a Gayer “ “ Are you a Fag” All now flushed down the toilet where they belong

With all that's been said, I'm still surprised my post was taken down when I referred to his martyrdom by some here in anticipation of his second coming. That was civil by comparison to what's been said. It appears he still has his acolytes here and they hold the same grudges he did.

That, and with all the live and let live by those who want him back, how about the same treatment for those who disagreed with him, only to have their posts deleted? It's like he had a Rolodex and speed dial set up for the calvary to come to the rescue.

I had no problem with MC posting his crap but I do have one when my replies and retorts were censored. Others here had the same thing happen to them. Like I've said before, A'gon is not a safe space for anyone to run ruin on others. Let and let live my butt.

All the best,
Nonoise

One poster above said they wished geoffkait was allowed back. I know this may be an unpopular stand, but so do I.

I value true imagination and intelligence over cut and paste intelligence.

Let’s put it this way:

einstein - paperboy and x ray technician

geoffkait - Aerospace Engineering (theoretical fluid dynamics and propulsion, statistical thermodynamics, nuclear physics, indeterminate structures). Undergrad thesis: Preliminary design of low-thrust engine for interplanetary travel utilizing momentum transfer mechanisms in highly magnetic metal crystal bombarded by high-energy ions. Work experience: satellite operations; radar data analysis; aerodynamics of high-performance aircraft; reentry vehicle dynamics; radio communications; satellite communications; spread spectrum communications.

I'm sure there is "fluff" in GK's resume above, but you get the point.

I suspect that the Puppet Master pulled the strings on a number of his familiars in order to have posts that showed him up for what he is , reported, with the aim of having them removed

i missed Geoffkait humor and creativity.... He pointed to me his own Helmholtz resonator experiment many years ago ...

I take my own research from this cue of him...

He never explained much his idea though..But he was generous about ideas...

But i could developed my own string search of listening experiments in acoustic and tweaks methods...

And he was one of the very rare participant in my crazy thread audio journey : " miracles in audio" his posts are there...This was his way to encourage me...

He was never harsh or rude generally just spirited mind humoristic...And passionnate..

I think i like strong ego which are open mind...

I personally do NOT miss Gkaits wishing cancer on some people here as he did on multiple occasions. Not acceptable public behavior anywhere, no excuses, and NOT to be fondly remembered.

@mahgister I think you may have some kind of selective filter going on in your recollections.

I missed that one, news to me.  Last I remember he was giving the daily Covid reports.

mapman you were wiser than most...

You are right...

I have a selective filter for the best in any people...

For example i forgot one harsh discussion i had with Geoffkait because he think that i will do too much in the tweaks department... He sells things and i sell creativity... But i forgot that...

generally it was more positive than negative ...

I just cant stand hypocrisy and contempt...

Big ego i dont mind about that...

Probably mine is too big anyway...

😉😊

@mahgister I think you may have some kind of selective filter going on in your recollections.

@mahgister its a wonderful trait to look for the best in anyone but I have learned over the years it's important to apply all the facts fairly in that assessment and not turn a blind eye. I wish nobody harm or ill will.  I endeavor to treat all kindly and with respect.  I am also anti-censorship. But we all have room to improve and have a duty to call each other out on our public failings when needed.

You are right...

But it is stronger than me to be faithful to my friend here or faithful to the best of their being...

I dont criticize your perspective view at all... I accept your point of view even different of mine because you are a gentleman and if i ever hurted you, even if i would be right on some matter, i will lost my sleep... 😁

Then please, even if we are not in the same angle of view, rest assured that i respect you comnpletely...

I never say you are wrong...

But life is a complex pie...We never see the same object in the same angle...

On the + side with our friend GK, I was pleasantly surprised towards the end to see that he took the pandemic seriously and seemed to put all his gaslighting aside for that for whatever reason. Sounded like a different person on that topic which he seemed to take seriously. Pretty much the only topic I recall he took seriously here.  Just my 2 cents....I wish him well.

I miss Geoffkait as well...

He will always be the Canoe to my English Leather.

Just noticed that Cindymeant has not posted since 1/11/22, but Tubebuffer is still buffing away (albeit with numerous deleted threads/posts).

With the exception of his political/antivax/homophobic posts Millercarbon didn't really bother me (actually enjoyed some of his sarcasm).

This said, we all (well most of us anyway - including myself) have our little crosses to bear (contained in/ommitting from our tiny little minds made of meat).

Just hope MC's not a victim of Covid considering his being anti-vax and working in the medical profession.

It may be a community of hobbyists, but please realize this site is a business. Revenue keeps it going. People sell things, often expensive things. The forum is just an adjunct and anything goes as long as the rules or laws are not broken.

@mapman

not arguing the point, but there is an important distinction to be made... the main site lists items for sale and it for business transactions, but the forum does not, it is a place for discussion... they are adjacent and related, but separate...

Has anyone for one minute even thought that the three guys you are all slagging off could be in hospital or even dead with Covid. Shame on you !!

@jjss49

Not really. An Audiogon account provides user access to both, so a user gets to have at both in any way they see fit, as long as they do not violate rules or break laws. The forum is the obvious and most direct way to conjure up business on the sales side if desired.  Understanding that most close connection between the two is key to understanding a lot of what goes on in the forum.   Just follow the money...

Just hope MC's not a victim of Covid considering his being anti-vax and working in the medical profession.

As I understand it he was released from his position for not being vaccinated.

He did all his posts on Agon from work.

Jerry you sure know a lot about MC. I though I was nosey. AND I am. Where are you getting this stuff? Do you work for "The Enquirer"?

Good Lord! Gladys Kravitz. :-)

Lost his Job, because he refused to get vaxxed? He did ALL his post from work? OK you say so..

So the pictures of his room is actually where he use to work? Did he take it with him? I bet he took his lava lamp at least.

I gotta go out and fix the elephant, hippopotamus, rhinoceros, crocodile, tyrannosaurus rex, and velociraptor fence.. It's lookin' a little ragged.
BTW on my spaceship.

I'll settle for the second page of "The Globe" right next to "Ops Octomom goin' for a cool dozen".

Regards

@mapman

i too have been on a-gon since the beginning... there is another thread about forum posters with hidden agendas

longstanding participants like almarg, oregonpapa, tvad, even ralph/atmasphere separate out their contributions here in discussion threads from any activities of buying or selling used gear on the listing part of the site (as do i)

i’m not naive about life, or about following the money - my angle on this is about the integrity of idea exchange and info sharing in the forum, versus commercial endeavor in the listings section (which for a-gon is the money maker, no doubt)...the distinction between the two parts is the different missions - this distinction is important, worth preserving, worth defending from those who blur the line and try to take advantage...

perhaps we are agreeing, just coming at the reality of the matter from different angles

ah @jjss49 gotcha.

Yes I agree that is how it should be. Just pointing out that there is nothing that enforces that. Levels of integrity will vary. People should be aware. It’s a business at the core though so anything deemed good for business ie sales that is legal  will be tolerated on the forum. At least that has been my observation. Cheers!

In response to mr_m:

1-6-2-5-8-3-7-4 Packard straight-8 firing order...

By the time we get to Merlins and Allisons, they’ll be dunking us in the Virtual Ether...

Buicks had an inline 8 too. Studebaker, Hercules, Gray marine, Industrial Ford, Waukesha, Cat, Detroit, Cummins. Allisons (sucked) and Merlin/Packard or Merlin/Rolls (was better), Deutz. Inline and V 8-16

I worked of a few turbans too. Guess what the firing order is on that.. LOL. IN and OUT.

Wankel was weird too. Polluting pile of crap.. Detroit 2 strokes use to fill the streets with white unburned fuel.. It was everywhere. Loved that.. They would run on bacon fat, used oil, hydraulic oil, a little gas, if you put it in the fuel tank they would burn it.. Now they would blow up.

I paid 17K each for a whole fleet of 359 Pete.  35 one year 40 the next. Now a fancy muffler is 15K. Go figure.

What is this thread about? Brownies? I should have remembered that. One to many brownies I guess.. :-)

Regards

Wonder if anyone has warned Steve at Decware that MC is about to extoll the virtues of his product.

Steve should insist on an NDA…

Really ! How much of this “ considerable knowledge “ was genuinely new ground and not merely common knowledge to most experienced HiFi guys here.

There are a lot of us here that are just getting started. We don’t have this common knowledge. That is why we come here. It’s tough to know the truth when the parents are fighting.

Really. They let him go because he wouldn’t get a shot? I honestly could NOT get mine fast enough. Yesterday lost a guy that was in my wedding. Luis Munoz the day before he became a great grandfather at 72. Covid/type II diabetic. Never smoked or drank, just worked like a dog.. He went to heaven, stupid Covid.

He sure didn’t get it from someone that wasn’t infected or a carrier. SARS is contagious and deadly to some with compromised immune systems.. I know one guy that has had it off and on for over 8 months. He keeps testing positive. Drinks moonshine, that may have something to do with it.. His gizzard is plugged..

BTW my chickens don't cackle, they are into yoga and Chip & Dale Roosters. More of a cat call I believe..

MC has been ostracized. It's an old forum tradition. I wish him well as a person but miss him as much as a case of piles.

“Piles”. Thanks for using that term. The last time I heard that was out of my Dads mouth. It brought back fond memories of his humor.

Man, I miss MC. He CARES about music and sound. And he does everything in his power to tweak it to sound its best.

Does his opinion bother some? Who cares. MC is a true blue music audiophile afficiando.

MC has been a sort of consigliere for me. Let me tell you what I bought with MC's advice and recommendations: A lot/most of Townshend Audio Seismics and cables. And their preamp.

Moneoone power cables.

And Synergistic Researches Purple Fuses. And I spread a thin layer of High Fidelity NPS 1260 on them.

Yeah. I can hear the abuse already. MC is right about most things.

Best-

I see nothing formal, definitive, or convincing that he has been banned, restricted, or disciplined probably he just got a job or as others have accused, suggested, and speculated he may have launched an audio industry related business or finally gotten a job.

@oldhvymec , re 6:30pm: +10
I promise never to cast a shadow (or not) on your....'wildlife encounter'.
(One doesn't know about those chickens...not when mentioning velociraptors...)

I never expected MC & kenjit in the same post, much less the same sentence.

When first I stumbled 'in here', those 2 & GK were part of the 'landscape' of the place...just 3 that seemed to create their own versions of ruckus....*S*

Overall....seems a nice place to hang, read things of interest, and type how I think vs. how I may talk.

Miss GK as well...I feel he 'got me'....or endured with what seemed a *S*

@femoore12 - you posted:

"There are a lot of us here that are just getting started. We don’t have this common knowledge. That is why we come here. It’s tough to know the truth when the parents are fighting."

Ask questions. There are plenty of people here with experience and knowledge. The truth is that everyone is biased in some way, or has preferences or limits to their knowledge. Plus seat time. It makes a lot of sense when you hear the differences, but there are so many variables-- think about the infinite combination of systems and room acoustics-- that there is no "one way." Absorb as much as you can. Read. And if possible --harder to do in the era of Covid-- try and hang out with other audiophiles. I was a member of a club in NYC that was great fun. I can’t say I learned much at club meetings- it was more social than anything, but got to know a lot of people. Over the long haul, you figure out what you need to know. Nobody knows everything and I would be suspicious of anyone who proclaims that they do. There are no gurus in this field, but some very knowledgeable people whose knowledge isn’t exactly linear-- they have deep knowledge of some things and less knowledge of others. So, in some ways it is incumbent on you to learn, but the resources are there. (And ignore ad hype and treat reviews with a grain of salt- not because they are deliberately lying, but because they are part of the eco-system of audio sales). User experience conveyed on a board can be valuable, if you get enough different data points, but even then, you will see a divergence of opinion. Partly due to the variables and partly due to individual preference (aka "bias").

It can be a fun hobby and some people make a living at it. I support the people I believe in with my wallet. And, as you gain more experience and have the wherewithal to get to something that more closely approximates real music, those relationships can be invaluable.

I miss all people with whom i interacted to here to some variable degree for sure different  for each one..,. Some characters always seems more easy to love than others for each of us...

Any human being though is a piece in the puzzle of life...

Those who are too obsessed to listen to others i simply dont read their posts... No names is needed...

I am perhaps a bit obsessed too but i hope that i have proven to others i can listen too out of my own obsessions...

@whart

I really appreciate the honest feedback. I do my best to learn from everyone here because my knowledge and experience is very limited. While I have been buying music for decades, I've only just gotten into this hobby. I just filter out the comments where someone states their method for reproduction is the best or the only way.

very good advice and on-target observations from @whart, valuable to noobs here

my first career for twenty some years was in the business of giving professional advice (not on hifi)

there is effort, knowhow and experience involved in how to successfully gather and receive good advice - advice seekers who are naive and lazy often get bad advice...

there are some people here that really know their sh**, from the fundamentals to the finer points of design, and are able to provide expert advice without tooting their own horn too much. Stick around and it will become apparent who they are. It’s important that their incredible repository of knowledge is passed on before it disappears into the ether..

“ MC has been a sort of consigliere for me. Let me tell you what I bought with MC's advice and recommendations: A lot/most of Townshend Audio Seismics and cables. And their preamp.“

Shilling mission accomplished then ! Did he mention to you that he was on Townshend Audio’s payroll at the time ? No of course he didn’t

That Newcastle Brown must have been stronger in the old days, my favorite IPAs are almost double the ABV and 2 "will sure knock you (me) down"

Gov't Mule covers are always tasty.

If you've interacted with MC and had a negative experience with him and you are happy to leave that's not being a hater.  That's having good boundaries and expecting others to behave civilly.

Stop victim blaming.

      I concur!!

but there is an important distinction to be made... the main site lists items for sale and it for business transactions, but the forum does not, it is a place for discussion... they are adjacent and related, but separate...

I’m not so sure that the administration views the distinction as clear cut as you for reasons of their own..

@tsushima1

"Did he mention to you that he was on Townshend Audio’s payroll at the time ? No of course he didn’t".

Yes, he did. I know all about his connection to Townshend. And I bought directly from Townshend. Don’t you feel silly now?

But that had nothing to do with my purchases. I was looking to upgrade my system’s loom, put in springs and get a separate preamp for 2 channel(as I was using a HT processor pre for 2 channel) and I read all the reviews I could find of all Townshend products including the Allegri Reference, F-1 Fractal cables, speaker podiums, t.t. platforms and pods. And the reverence for Max Townshend(RIP) and his technologies was a factor as well.

The F-1 Fractal speaker cables and interconnect sound fantastic. Quite the upgrade.

Someone I know bought the speaker podiums and told me the difference was huge and the most incredible change to his system he experienced, and brought his system up to "high end".. And this guy knows his sonics.

So, all is good with my system.

I've been a long-time reader but don't post that much here. So I'm more familiar with the poster personalities than my number of posts might imply.

Let's acknowledge that people have good points and faults, all of them.  It's not a black and white situation - there is lots of gray.

My $.02 (which I think should be rounded up to $.10) is that MC is knowledgeable and believes himself to be a warm and giving person but he has seriously crossed the line into vitriol on a number of occasions.  He is both.

I have read some of his posts and gotten so angry I wanted to just flame him out, but then he'll reference my favorite comedy skit and invite strangers over to his house.  Quite the duality.

I'd like to see everyone...MC included but everyone...work to avoid ad hominem attacks as part of debates about audio.  It's silly how contentious these threads get.  I'm sure I've been guilty of it myself.  This is a good time for us all to remind ourselves that we are here to collect information and be entertained...we are not here to debate who gets thrown off the life raft.

@vinylshadow

” Yes, he did. I know all about his connection to Townshend. And I bought directly from Townshend. Don't you feel silly now? “

Not in the slightest, the fact that one individual knew that he was shilling for Townsend does not discount the several other members here who were subject to his incessant campaign to promote Townsend products who were not made aware by Chucky that he was on TA’s payroll at that time.

Perhaps you might have shared these intelligences with the forum instead of choosing to allow Chucky to deceive the forum as to his motive.

Dont you feel duplicitous now ?
