Darko nailed it. 12 examples of wishful thinking in the hi-fi community
9. Internet-based audiophile communities are mostly polite and convivial.  All are valid but this one checks a box for me. I’ve been a mostly active member here& AA for 25 yrs. I used to enjoy it. But for  the last 3 yrs I feel like I have a ...
Whats playing on your system today?
Nuthin’ dammit and I’m irritated because of it. I have shingles AND muscle spasms in the same place that the rash is located. I might be getting turretts too since I’ve hollered "dammit" now for 3-4 days because of the pain.that keeps hitting when...
Cryo treatment?
i have both the DH Labs Air Matrix Cryo' RCA’s and the regular non cryo’d. The cryo definitely makes a difference. The non cryo’d are good but the cryo is in a different league IMO.I have been thinking about sending one to get it cryo treated. But...

Warm sounding phono cartridge
From what you have said, I'd  have the cartridge itself checked. I once bought a brand new cartridge that just didn't sound right. It was sent back to the mfg and checked. It was bad. They sent me a  new cartridge. New items can and do come out of...
Warm sounding phono cartridge
my well cared for and well recorded LP's sound excellent many of my albums now sound thin to me and noisy. Clicks and pops have been exacerbated to the point that I do not want to play some records even after a run through my Degritter ultrasonic...
System advice
+1 @akg_ca   Have the Naim pieces had time enough to fully break in? If not, that may be the problem. If it has, then you have a synergy problem. It’s not a lack of wattage. 60 wpc is enough to power the speaker which are 90db efficient. The amp...

Dunning–Kruger Effect The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which people with limited competence in a particular domain overestimate their abilities.   Here's the Simple description
What would you save in a fire?
(But to be serious, we will hopefully learn from this and stop hiring women to be firefighters who sleep with other woman who steal so much water there is none left for the hydrant. That’s what the smart people say out there. Also raking…) Misp...
The Real Reason Why Music Is Getting Worse!!
I was writing a reply to many of the posters and had a brown out & lost it. Oh well. I'll just say that most were good comments with which I mostly agree. its obvious who did not read the post and commented to the header alone. For them I'll q...
Setting up stereo Rel subwoofers….
Connect Rel stereo subs with one to Right and one to left channel. You will need to tie the red & yellow together for the + and the black to the -.. If there is a ground hum you may need to float the ground(s). If you can't adjust the sub volu...
Is Subwoofer Elevation a Viable Option?
According to Rel, the answer is NO! The feet are at the proper height for the down firing speaker. Raising or lowering them is not advisable. I suspect its because it interferes with the subs proper interaction with the floor.
Trends in value of vintage / used audio equipment?
Its been a buyers market for 3 yrs or more. One must have a very desirable piece  and/or have a fire sale price on it to get a bite or sale
What should I look for when purchasing a quality album?
@lewm  Don't you know that all records are very valuable now? Seriously I  agree on value. I'm not sure I have ever used their value as a guide. But their grading scale is very good. Of all the used albums I bought back in the early 2000's, I ma...
What should I look for when purchasing a quality album?
I'm not sure anyone has mentioned Goldmine rating scale for used records. This is important to know IMO.Learn it and you will know how much snap crackle & pop will be in those grooves. You can do this just by looking at the album. A good deale...
