I’m an early listener as well. The Breath and their Acoustic album is pretty nice.
Female vocalist recommendations
My morning routine starts at 530/am. Light breakfast, and my morning tea.
I then power up my audio system and listen to my morning favorites.
I love soothing female vocalists at this time of the morning.
Here are some of my favorites- Norah Jones-Jacintha-Abigail Lapell-Amber Rubarth-Anette Askvik-Margo Timmins-etc
I'm really looking for some other recommendations by the great minds on Agon.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated....and great recordings are a bonus.
Thanks in advance.
@roxy54 thanks for the October project suggestion. I never heard of them before, which kind of surprises me, but they’re right up my alley. Kind of remind me of a cross between All About Eve and Fairport convention |
Great suggestions already, I'll add Mazzy Star, Rickie Lee Jones (the acoustic one if you need it to be totally mellow), Lucinda Williams, Lindi Ortega, Kelsea Ballerini, Phoebe Bridgers, Caitlin Canty, someone already mentioned Amber Rubarth and Natalie Merchant, but +1 on those. Let us know what you thought of all these recommendations. |

@curtisvill +1 on Dominque Fils-Aime. beautiful voice and arresting songwriting. @kb54 That Kathleen Edwards title should have garnered way more attention than it did when it was released. |
My two favorites.....Mary Black and Jennifer Warnes. Mary Black has a large catalog of great Irish-influenced music. No Frontiers, Babes in the Wood, The Holy Ground, Without the Fanfare and By the Time it Gets dark are favorites. Jennifer Warnes has a large catalog as well, with some of her lesser known, The Hunter, The Well, Another Time, Another Place, some of her most enjoyable in my opinion. |
Lana Del Rey Dolores O'Riordan (Cranberries) Karen Jonas (way underappreciated and for the time being pretty unknown). Start off with the track: butter Sylvan Esso- electro pop. Try sunburn off of her new album. No rules Sandy. US Girls Julia Jacklin Samia Phoebe Bridgers And above all: Ashley Monroe. Try Like a Rose, one of her earlier songs. Then move on to: the Blade, Sparrow, and Rosegold

yogiboy Oh, I have plenty of Billie, Ella, and so many others we both like I'm sure. That list is just the ones lying around that I've listened to over the past 3-1/2 months while dealing with/recuperating from a bad infection in the bones of my foot. In/out of hospital, 3 surgeries, 11 weeks on intravenous antibiotics, lost 34 lbs, carried out on a stretcher, rehab, I've been thru the wringer! "Keep off your feet", it's been a lot of TV or Music! Piles of lps and cds hither and thither. Should invite friends over for dinner, that would inspire me to put them back in the barn. |
