The best opening act you've ever seen & heard?
@musikcrayz  "Linda Ronstadt on the Neil Young tour in ‘73. It was in Hartford. The morons heckled her off the stage. " I saw that tour in Vancouver. What kind of idiot would boo Linda Ronstadt? Whoever it was is lucky I wasn't there.
A great singer you may have never heard, or even heard of.
Mink DeVille's "Cabretta" is definitely one of the most underrated albums of all time. A great time for bands like Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes, Bruce Springsteen and Graham Parker. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it through the entire v...
The best opening act you've ever seen & heard?
August 7, 1972 The Eagles were the opening act for a double bill of Yes and Edgar Winter at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. Ticket was $4.00 That same year The Rolling Stones started their North American tour in Vancouver with Stevie Wonder as...
Multiple subwoofers work wonders
Adding a distributed bass array was the single biggest improvement to my system. And, looking at your system page, that is a very impressive and flat frequency response you have achieved. Totally jealous.
LoFi
Not surprised. Low expectations means you can't be disappointed. It's like when a favourite song comes on your car radio. All you do is enjoy the moment.
2025 Rock-N-Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees
Not sure what exactly the criteria are for induction, but some of the inductees leave me scratching my head, as do some of the musicians that are ignored. Which is why I couldn't care less.
OK Audiogon, help me out please
"The problem with my current speakers are they seem very bright in the mids and harsh in the upper." So, why would you shortlist another Monitor Audio speaker if you aren't thrilled with the sound you get from the one you have now? It's not like...
Directional wires/cables
I had a Wireworld interconnect that didn't function at all if connected backwards, so I guess the answer can be yes.
High pitch buzz in speakers after adding some LEDs
"He then decided to change the power supplies and bingo the buzz went away.... Do you think thats a good starting point?" Um...yes.
Does anyone listen to the radio anymore?
While I am driving I listen to 75% sports radio talk shows and 25% music. That’s about it. I have no idea what the quality of what the actual quality of the signal is and I don’t really care. It’s car radio. You just listen and and sing along wh...
Things we cannot be bothered by anymore
@ozzy62  3) speakers that fall flat when trying to reproduce Tool at 95 db Saw them again last year and 95dB was only a brief stop on the way to 108dB. My tinnitus was whispering in my ear to "keep the ear plugs in", but Pneuma started up and i...
Music/Life
@slaw  Yes, ones teenage years can sometimes resemble that Russian roulette scene from The Deer Hunter.
Strange Cable Experiment
"Any change is perceived as positive in a majority of the times." Despite this pronouncement from our resident "voice of doom", congratulations on your epiphany.
Movie/film suggestions.
Thanks for the "Eraserhead" recommendation. One of my favourite David Lynch movies that definitely requires a rewatch. Stanley Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove" is top 5 all time. "Mine shaft gap" Brilliant. As for the Coen Bros.. All are great, but i...
New HT/2CH room
How will the room be orientated? Will the speakers be on the long or short wall?
