Are You a Swifty?
Many of the negative comments remind me of the comments made about Joni, Dylan, and even Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue! Stop being old cranky MEN and open your mind…. Is she writing music like Mozart? No. Does she sing like Stills? No. But then nei...
Are You a Swifty?
@tylermunns  I agree with you overall, for instance, your food analogy is a good one. But sometimes you have to try something 3-4 times to learn to enjoy it. Wine is a good example. Some people don't like wine, but when asked, they'll say "Well I...
Are You a Swifty?
She's a good singer, entertainer and a very good song writer. Plus listening to her makes me cool again for my neices and newphews. Some people here only like 'their' kind of music, which is why rap, and other forms of music, like taylor Swift ge...
Am I right for this forum?
I started my music journey listening to a mono table top radio in the basement, for well under $30. It took me at least 30 years to get above $3,000. But it's the music I heard on that mono set that counted. The music is still number one, and in y...
Opinions on PS Audio Direct Stream DAC (Mk 1)
I have owned the PS Directstream MK1 for over four years, and I could and would upgrade if I found there was something much better, but the only one I heard that was much better was over $20K, and that's not gonna happen. So I'd say for $1800 you ...
LoJack for audio equipment?
No need for a lojack, you can buy an Apple tracker (there are other cheaper alternatives out there). I have one in my car and another inside one of my guitars. I never thought about puting it in any of my stereo equiptment. l'm not that worried, b...
What's up with the price of Vintage equipment?
@noromance 1994 not vintage? Tell that to my 12 year old neice! She has a hard time comprehending why people would type directly onto paper and telephones with cords? How about CRT TV's with 19 inch screens, oh and with cords too! I remember show...
What's up with the price of Vintage equipment?
@noromance  I'd agree that most of the japanese 1970-80's stuff is mid-fi at best. What I meant by vintage was anything before the 1990's, and not just tubes. Since antiques start at 30 years, I beleive the same would apply to audio equipment. A...

Stuff You Tried To Love
I always wanted McIntosh stuff from when I way back in college (the 1970's), finally had the house and the money to get an amp and pre (sometime in the early 2000's) and never liked them. I thgough it was me or my other equipment, but nothing made...
Moving into an apartment with wood joist floors - worried about neighbors hearing
Try springs under the sub. Much better then other forms of pucks, etc. You can find decent ones on eBay (Preffair is the brand I have), although you can also find "High Quality" ones for 10 times more money.  I used them under my Velodyne and now...
Aurender N200 vs N100H
Altrhough I did not listen to all the aurender models, I choose the N200 as the best choice between features, sound quality and price. I am very happy with it and see no reason to upgrade to a different model. I use a PS Audio V1 DAC.
What's up with the price of Vintage equipment?
@moto_man I had that Phillips turntable. Loved it. Besides the cool lighted buttons, the arm on it was actually pretty good. Although, once the electrics went on it, it was not worth fixing. I had a friend who had the Phase Linear stuff back in ...
Turntable Cartridge upgrade question.
1200.00 would be a big improvement. Nothing against  MM, I had them for many years and they sounded fine. But mc just pulled more music from my vinyl.  A warning, the sound difference between mc and mm is different, some like it, some don’t. So “...
Looking for software or website details inside.........
Plenty of text translation software, but I have never heard of any that can translate a song while it’s playing, if that is what you mean. I am sure it could happen in the next year or two with AI, but only if there is a need/demand for it.
