Turntable suggestions for a newbie
I’m shocked that I bought a Technics SL1210G, and even more shocked that I’ve had it for over 3 years and have never thought about upgrading it.  I had VPI Classic 3, Classic 1, Clearaudio Solution and VPI Aries prior to the Technics, man, I  love...
The Jico SAS/B Stylus VN 5 MR
I have a Jico with a Ruby cantilever on a V15 V xMr, it’s one of my favorite sounding cartridges.  My best cartridge is a Soundsmith Paua II, which I do love, but I keep putting the Shure back on, and Soundsmith rebuilt a Technics MC310 for me and...
Humminguru Nova - newest ultrasonic record cleaner
well, to be fair, I am using 2 machines.  The Nitty Gritty Mini Pro for a wet cleaning and vacuuming to spread the GrooveWasher cleaner and then rinse it off, and then the Nova.  But it really has been great then.
Need suggestions on preamp
a used Cary SLP-98P should fit your budget, and it’s one of the great values in Audiophilia.  If the Parasound is running out of juice look for a used Sanders ESL amp, best amps I’ve ever heard with Maggies, and the used older versions will be fai...
Comparison of two High Quality Steely Dan Aja records....
all of the UHQR’s (with the exception of the newest Doors self title), are the best pressings of those particular albums I’ve heard.  From above, I also LOVED that 30th of Aja, and it was my reference as well until the UHQR. BTW, I just think the...

Rolling Stones - High Tides and Green Grass (1st Press Mono) Steely Dan - Gaucho (AP UHQR) The Doors - The Doors (AP UHQR) Eagles - Hotel California (2009 remaster, best pressing I’ve ever heard)
Truly Stunning Vinyl Album
i’m not a huge Black Sabbath fan, but the Rhino Numbered remaster of their self titled debut that came out a few months ago might be the best sounding vinyl record I’ve ever heard. The Doors - Analogue Productions 45 RPM from a few years back (st...
MoFi v/s UHQR
I have loved the 2 Van Halen releases of 1 step, but been really disappointed by both Hotel California (great packaging, flawless silent vinyl, but sibilant and bright) which is not in the same league as my 2009 pressing that is the best pressing ...

Integrating HT and 2-channel systems
Man I love the Maggie IIIa's.  I helped my bother set up a huge home theater with them, what a bargain. With that said, I'm not sure they can breathe in that size room?  You might be better off using the MMG's as the fronts, selling the big Maggi...
Thinking about getting some bookshelf/standmount speakers

Solid state amp recommendations for Maggies?
Man, I miss my Maggies, and after going through many, many amps once I found the Magtech amps from Sanders, there was no going back.  Everything that I liked before got bigger, wider, fuller, yet somehow sharper.  The last pair I had the Magtech a...

What do audiophiles do in their cars?
Mostly just the factory in our cars, as many have said, they are pretty good now, and much of the car's computer system is run through the head unit, so it can be a pain to change.  But.... I have a classic convertible that has a massive system t...
