Who Would You Spend A Day With - Pick Two

If you could spend an audiophile day with any two forum members, who would they be and why?

I will go first…

@almarg - He doesn’t seem to be active much anymore, but I always enjoyed his technical and practical perspective. I’d enjoy the opportunity to hear his system and learn some new things.

@jasonbourne52 - I would be genuinely curious to do some listening with him to better understand his perspective.  Am I 100% certain that I am hearing differences that he can’t or is there something else going on.

There’s quite a few others that would be high on my list, but I know that I don’t want any custom designed speakers if you know what I’m saying…

mceljo

nothing, just saying be careful who you let in your home....

lots of unstable headaches out there. wife and I sell some legal firework snakes and black cat bottle rockets with report,....just in case.

didn't have time to grab my assault shovel

"Reminds me of the jackalope who came to see my speaker boxes, had to slowly each on top of fridge so shirt lifted up, revealing a special noisemaker, which I made obvious. This guy was a highly volatile guy, wife was just around the corner with her own noisemaker of her own."

What are you trying to say here? @arcticdeth

Anyone who is normal, no weirdos or head cases who have masochistic or murderous intentions. Reminds me of the jackalope who came to see my speaker boxes, had to slowly each on top of fridge so shirt lifted up, revealing a special noisemaker, which I made obvious. This guy was a highly volatile guy, wife was just around the corner with her own noisemaker of her own.

 Any one who enjoys single malt, NWOBHM, metal, rock, blues, and no super loud music, but just loud enough to converse about anything.

must bring meat and veggie tray.

I spent the day with millercarbon (two actually) once just him and I and the other with a group of audiophiles.  For all the online bluster and attitude in reality he's a very knowledgeable and gracious host.   We drank beer he found under a house or something and he cooked ribs.  A day I'll always remember.

I think a day with @dekay' would be a blast..  If for no other reason I would be able to ask him about his out there references.

I would suppose a day with anybody on this forum would good one. Just to listen and talk about the hobby we enjoy would be enough to make the time seem way to short.

 I would have to say Ozzy. He tells it like it is. I value his opinion on things and have tried several after reading his take on things with excellent results.

I really enjoy a good wintry mix of old classics and fresh new material.

After considerable thought my choices would be Elizabeth Hurley and Paige Spiranac.

@thyname Yes ! I find myself doing this more, more, more… Keyboard warriors… meh… But i met some truly awesome people here….and building out the network by joining audio and music groups….

My doors are open to most… North San Diego or South Seattle.

Ciao.

Jim

@arafiq I wouldn't wish that on my worse enemy.
Do your own wet work.

All the best,
Nonoise

Although, I wouldn’t mind putting @nonoise @jerryg123 in the same room and enjoy seeing their bromance blossom.

…. Although, Trump love or hate aside, they would get along just fine 🤷‍♂️😉

@arafiq : thank you, I appreciate that.

I meet with my local (and not so local) audiophile friends quite often. As a matter of fact, I am driving 2 hours each way to meet a friend of mine tomorrow (Monday, Presidents’ Day ) at his house and listen to his awesome system. And of course have a beer or two and a bite. Another friend of ours is joining too. It will be fun

⬆️ Well, no wonder you can’t hear the difference between a lamp cord and audiophile power cords 🤣

LOL!!! Exactly my thoughts on this guy 😂🤷‍♂️😉🤯🤔🥲😀😃😄😄

John Lee Hooker

Hendrix or Marley.

From here @lalitk @charles1dad

Now ask about a cage match!

@noromance , thanks for the mad props. I wish I could choose but that would be like asking which kid I liked the best or passing some kind of judgement of Solomon.

All the best,
Nonoise

@noromance back at ya brother…. hot date with you and the physical ghost children of both Peter Walker and Glenn Croft down in your music cellar….. what could be better ?

I should have gotten his name correctly whipsaw since I contacted him for a Zoom meeting with my hi fi club and he was kind enough to say yes. It was a good meeting.

I've never heard his speakers and given the intelligence of their design, I expect great things when I do.

@dynamiclinearity

You're welcome. And as a related aside, I own a pair of his FinkTeam KIM speakers, and he has been both very responsive to direct communication, and helpful.

@fuzztone

@jasonbourne52

If they were busy, Amir from ASR

If he was busy Steve Gutenburg ... all seem like nice people!

@roxy54 ....*L* ...and that’s unusual? *mock ’tsk’* ;)

Personally, I feel like a sunflower with 10ft. poles in lieu of petals. but Hey...

Somethings just Is.....

dwmaggie, aka Jerry Moats, myself...been a long while, but....

Happy to meet 'n greet any 'n all....how long and happy that would remain...or become....?

Lifes' a crapshoot with live ammo....*L* ;)

This thread has gone off the rails as usual. It was supposed to be about Audiogon members that you would like to meet.

If the main emphasis was listening to and discussing audio "gear", then I'd choose Doug Schneider.

If the main emphasis was listening to and discussing audio "tweaks," then I'd choose Oregonpapa (R.I.P. Frank).

If the main emphasis was listening to and discussing just music, then that's too hard of a choice. I can think of a dozen people right off the bat, a few of which have already been mentioned,

Let’s change that up a bit. Two people from the audio industry. I would choose Nelson Pass & Peter Qvortrup. From the forum, Atmasphere & Millercarbon. The latter only to get inside his head. My favorite alternative would be Oregonpapa

millercarbon (Chuck Miller), even though his politics would make me crazy. That, no doubt, is why he was banned from the site some time ago.

And mahgister. A weird approach to SQ (tin foil hats, anyone?), but passionate about thinking through the mysteries of acoustics in space.

Roger Modjeski: Genius designer, wonderful person.

When I was in my 30s and Frank Zappa came to town I wanted to invite him to dinner with my family at my house. True. Sad but true.
Bent

Love to meet Mike Levine and Charles dad.

Sorry about the spelling everybody have a beautiful day

⬆️ Well, no wonder you can’t hear the difference between a lamp cord and audiophile power cords 🤣

At the risk of offending no one:

My pal Johnny Walker
And his brothers Black and Red

charles1dad,brownsfan,grannyring, and aberlyclark (who has my same speakers)

Sorry for the extra picks,there's a few more too.I miss Al too :-(

@lalitk

Al was a gem. I would also add @oregonpapa to the list..RIP.  There are so many great members here that I would love to spend time and learn from their experiences

+1.

@roxy54

Thanks.
Al set a standard for certain. Sorely missed.

Charles

My picks:

@jjss49 and @charles1dad

.Almarg was a great loss for who he was as well as all that he knew.

That is easy, I would scroll through the virtual systems area, pick the two members that have systems that interest me most, and show up with a keg, pizza, and some CD’s.

It would be like a tailgate party without the football game.

+1, @tomic601

Al was a gem. I would also add @oregonpapa to the list..RIP.  There are so many great members here that I would love to spend time and learn from their experience. Whenever I’m traveling I always check to see if I can get with someone from here.

of course Al, they exact opposite of your other choice. Al was a gem of a man, RIP..

Roger Modjeski, i miss him as well

Charlie of Ayre…

its a list….
