Collectibles signed by musicians. What do you have?
It did seem like Dick lingered a little long holding the back of her thigh when he signed above the (short) hem of her dress.  In hindsight, I'm A-OK with it...

@mapman: great minds think alike...gonna go with that!  Two photos of Dick Dale that my wife and I took at a 1999 concert in Eugene, OR (WOW Hall) that he signed for my wife and I after a 2002 concert that we attended in Eugene, OR (Wild Duck).  H...
I hate to say it, but now I think maybe I like my amp in ultralinear mode versus triode
FWIW, Gary Dodd, shortly before he died in 2015, was contracted by a very rich person who heard his "Blue Monster" amps: to build the "best sounding amplifier possible; even better than the Blue Monsters."  What he came up with was monoblocks...

Shudder is right.  Thank you for your excellent contributions dogeared.

In audio reproduction, linear is sexy.  Ultra linear is ultra sexy.

No back pedal. I’ve told the forum what I said; please tell tell us what you think I said.

That's not what I said viridian.  What I said is that there are two rational conclusions that can be drawn from the information provided, and that for ghdprentice's sake, I hope it's one conclusion instead of the other that he is experiencing.  If...

@ghdprentice: I, and presumably atmasphere, and all other rational thinkers, would rationally conclude that your amps are optimized for triode topology...and, necessarily, that the ultralinear topology was added, presumably as a gimmick, to presum...

atmasphere said: That’s a bit different from saying that it will ’work’; sure it will play but the output transformer should be optimized for a particular tube. This is almost certainly the most salient content that this thread will produce. You ...
An audio component you just can't let go
There are 3: Dodd Balanced Power Supply, Dodd Battery Powered Preamp and Charlie Cocci Ultimate Monoblocks (the only 2 that will ever exist).
Dodd Audio Preamp
I run a 2006 Dodd Battery Powered Preamp with the Dodd (read: Gary) strapped left/right battery banks modification. Nothing has ever unthroned it. As always, excellent advice from bdp24; Danny will likely know the exact preamp you are...
Food: what does the typical audiophile eat?
1/3 acre in organic produce.  144 heirloom tomatoes of 23 varieties are a part of it.
B&W Bass Alignment filter Adjustments
Do no harm.  Get rid of it.
Warm vs Revealing—the struggle for balance
Amps that can run multiple types of output tubes are, by design, compromises.  They don't optimize signal transfer of any output device,  so all possible output devices are not optimized with respect to signal transfer in their operation.  For som...
Not sure for power conditioner my amp or not.
@johnnycamp5:  Right, toroidal transformers don't perform well for balanced power supply systems.  Although nobody ever sells theirs because they're awesome, the Dodd Balanced Power Supply, the unit that you'll see powering the electronics at all ...
