Bo1972...Me thinks you have been spending way to much time in self serving desolation living in your parents basement. Dude, come out of there and take a long walk...get some fresh air and sunshine...it should help long term in ridding your self righteous attitude towards the general population of these forums and beyond...
Sheesh!!! |
I think that the moderator should delete all of Bo's postings here. They are nonsense. |
|
I just installed the SR blue fuses in my Carver Raven 350 tube amps. What a nice improvement, with a deeper soundstage and improved dynamics and frequency response. Very happy.

Ozzy Nice to hear And awesome amps that now sound even better! Sweet! |
Bo (who has been driving me crazy for years) is sort of unique in his style, with his utter disregard of the of the other audio geeks who populate forums. That with the lack of brevity with copious amounts of unhinged pomposity make his illogical or at least indecipherable posts sort of unique (al least in style), and his only saving grace is the fact that he announces his departure and goes away. |
As an old timer, I would like to say I missed his psycho babble and was glad to see him back, and it was true for exactly the first half of his first sentence of his first post since his return, which was pretty much the same as every other post he has ever made. P.S. I am not sorry for this run on sentence. |

this bo does have a bit of don quixote in him. while candidly i can't follow most of what he carries on about, he does register as a cordial and sincere fellow, so more power to him.

@geoffkait "his only saving grace is the fact that he announces his departure and goes away" Ah, wouldn't it be nice if the ratio, of those who announce their departure to those who actually depart, was no greater than 1? |

What are you carrying on about now? I never said what it appears I said. Keep me out of your juvenile head trips, anyway.

Idle thought: bo does seem to have some Michael Green in him. Are they related? It’s the Elmer Gantry effect. And I mean that as a compliment.

fuses can be a great upgrade in audio. But....smog, magnetism and high frequent noise have a huge negative influence on the sound and stage. Here are upgrades which make a bigger difference than the fuses do.
Even when you adapt yoiur systems by modifications and tools regarding smog, magnetism and high frequent noise. You will have access to an even higher result with the fuses.
When you would understand the properties of sound and all the different parts which have a negative influence on the sound and stage audio can be brought to a much higher level.
The acoustics have the biggest influence on sound and stage. And here most people have no idea how much they loose in quality and result. Buying more expensive audio will not help you a lot. The level in effectness in audio is very limited due to trial and error.
Trial and error is so ineffective based on the fact that there is no real foundation. People need to become aware that this will never help them to be effective in audio.
This has nothing to do with personal matter, but is all related to facts. |
Smog...he has a point as you really should keep smog out of your listening space. Also, I thought Bo went away? |
Oh, brother! Looks like it’s time to issue another smog alert. But this time it’s Red 🚨 It’s a damn good thing I’ve got a full body Hazmat suit handy. ☠️
|
I live in the San Fernando Valley/L.A. and the smog was horrendous in the 60’s and 70’s. It improved by 1990; however, I owned three Dynavector cartridges (Ruby, Karat and XXL) between 1979 and 1988 whose cantilevers froze after 3 years each due to the effects of smog on the rubber type components (apparently crystalized solid or just deteriorated and froze). Since the smog has gone from where I live (due to severe environment changes in auto/truck/steel plant closing/paint/solvents/ furniture manufacturing, etc), I’ve owned a Lyra stylus Lydian for 8 years and a Benz Ruby 3 for 12 years with no deterioration of the assembly (Lydian wore out). Smog is very bad for everything including audio equipment.

The direction of the fuse can be determined by the direction of the writing on the fuse. I got great results upgrading the Black fuse to the Blue in my Nordost QB-8 power distribution block. I agree that the Blues sound better out f the box than the Blacks, and I would cautiously agree that they settle into their final sound signature a bit faster than the Blacks. Like the Blacks, the break-in process can be a wild ride. Has anyone else noticed a brief "technicolor" period where they sound almost hyper-real (in a good way) before settling back down? I'm also using a Blue fuse to great effect in my Uptone Audio JS-2 LPS used to power a Mytek Brooklyn DAC+. |
I don't know, but the SR blue fuses just sounded great from the start and got slightly better over time, so unlike the SR black fuse experience. I didn't notice any wild ride like the SR Blacks (those sounded bad from the 11th to 70th hours). |
Nice how a color change can improve the sound of a fuse! |
Odd how naysayers carry on so .... |
Actually naysayers are the driving force behind most threads that involve controversial tweaks. Let’s drink to the contented pseudo skeptics, the lonely tweak-a-phobes and n’er do well naysayers. 🍺
|
+1 Geoff. Without naysayers the majority of these threads would be 20 post count or so only!
Cheers!
Now where are those darn Purple fuses......
|
I find the ubiquitous neigh-sayers invaluable. The many snorts of derision while reading their posts, keep my sinuses cleared. One would think, with ears like those, their hearing would be better. https://www.youtube.com/embed/gROO7xSTxfY Then again, as much noise pollution as they generate, all by themselves....... |
Oh man, high end audio sure does attract some characters huh? This Bo...;-0
|
Thanks guys, I needed a laugh. :-) |
3 stooges are better than one in a comedy but two might do for basic entertainment. As long as they each have a unique gimmick.
Hey prof, you are a voice of reason. Maybe you can settle things down around here. :^) |
Has anyone replaced the stock fuse in the ARC Ref 6 with the Blue fuse? If yes what was your opinion.. |
I have have a new start-up concept. Faraday cages with smog micro filters, featuring allergen resistance. Anyone in? |
Good luck with your third-eye-hi-fi. We all may all see the grooves, or the 0's and 1's coming from the heavens as soon as the Oracle stiches up a deal with Don. |
SR fuses lack proper ratings so you simply have to hope they don't fail, and they really don't do anything to a signal anyway since they're FUSES...claiming otherwise is silly, and no explanation of how or why they can improve the sound of anything is part of the lame uber hype contained in the shameful infomercial like hard sell of these ridiculous fuses. Otherwise, enjoy! |
|
WTH? Where there did that come from and why? Is Wolf that bored he just needed to stir the pot again? |
I just returned from my Mother's apartment where the music is certainly sounding wonderful. All components have Synergistic Research Blue fuses and all electrical connections have been treated with Total Contact by Perfect Path Technologies. If a Blue fuse fails I would rather it blows at a less than maximum value and save the equipment. The PS Audio DAC and Transport are generating very nice music. Paul McGowan of PS Audio is a believer in audio grade fuses affecting the sound and has stated so at his PS Audio forum.

This debate can go on for the end of time. Weather they work or dont.. You yourself will have to judge and only you will then decide for yourself.. Look it aint that expensive to try one. If it works great, if it dont oh well no big loss. Just sell it or use it for a spare. I myself am going to buy one for my ARC Ref 6 but will not put it in my 6 is until it is broken in so i can see if there is a difference in sonics. |
Wolf_Garcia brings a total new meaning to the old adage "beating a dead horse."
Wolfie ... I know that in order to arrive at the conclusions you have, you must have run extensive tests, no? So, answer this: Thousands of SR fuses are being used at this point in time. How many failures have occurred ... and at what rate compared with just stock fuses? Surely you have this information available to you, do you not??
Its time to change the record, Wolfie ... the flip side is ... read the reviews.

tattoedtrackman There should be big differences in using the SR blue fuse immediately. It does improve over time but in my system it was a subtle improvement. The SR black fuse takes 72 hours, trust me, that one you don't want to hear from the 10th or 15th hour on until it's broken in.
|
tattoedtrackman ...
The blue fuse should make your REF-6 sing. Wonderful pre-amp, by the way.
Frank |
Once more into the breach dear friends...... |
I put an SR Blue in my REF6. Total Contact was a way bigger improvement.
Just saying ... |
@fleschler @oregonpapa ......Thanks,,,,Looking forward to the Blue...... |
Do not forget to try the fuse in both directions. You do not need to wait until the fuse is fully broken in to listen and decide if one direction sounds better. Quick and easy will do it.

|
@davidpritchard ,,,,,,, Is there a direction the fuse is supposed to be put in? |
The direction sonically is the one which focuses the sound. If it is in the wrong direction, it sounds like it is out of phase. That's my experience with two different sets of amps whereby each had a different direction, one with the words facing in and the other had the words facing out. So, try each direction and check for phasiness and focus. |
@fleschler ............Ok thanks !!!! Will do..... |
I did run extensive tests on the Red and Black fuses, some inexplicably blew, and, although I haven't contacted every sucker who's bought into this "magic fuse" nonsense I assume from my little tests they're likely not rated properly, although it's possible the 150 bucks covers some more careful matching. Great news for the fans! In an alternating current scenario as with a fuse, current flows in both directions so the phase issues are nonexistent, but this entire pile of "magic fuse" stuff, designed to simply take money from those who love to imagine benefits where there can be none, is sort of adorable in the sense that an expensive placebo can be so welcomed by the desperate and insecure among us. |
^^^ Still beating the dead horse. |
Wolfie probably ordered the Pink fuse inexplicably.

Audio new roses at its best - or worst! Flip a coin! And find a good therapist! "The voices coming out of my stereo sound so real!" |
Listening too long to one's own stereo can lead to psychosis! |
I'm waiting for the arrival of phlogiston-free fuses! |
