Today, oregonpapa (Frank) passed away. He will be greatly missed by many of us on Audiogon. I got to know him about a year ago personally, having had many phone calls with him over that time. He was a delightfully kind man, who freely shared his wisdom with others. Bedsides high end audio, , Frank was very knowlegable about world history and politics. Good bye my friend. Jeff

Sad news.....and I as we all have here at one point or another, crossed paths with him. Great guy and also very knowledgeable. RIP ......and you will be missed.
I had to throw my hat in the ring as wishing his family sincere condolences at his passing. It's always hard to believe when you lose the good ones. I hope the system he is hearing now is as special as he was.

From The Art9 cartridge, PPT products and purple fuses, found Franks listening impressions to be good solid recomends and I was rewarded with great sound by trusting his ears and experience.
I will miss his postings. He took alot of flak in this forum with grace.
Life is no soft affair. It challenges us. It rolls obstacles in our path. While there may be victory marches in our future, there will also—inevitably—be defeats and retreats, failures and foibles and funeral processions. We will suffer. We will grieve.
Just read his thread on fuses last week. The SR Oranges went into my system on Tuesday. It was reading Frank’s thread that help me make the decision. Thank you Frank for leaving your knowledge and experiences with us.
You will be dearly missed
Surprising and awful news, which came out of nowhere. Really admired, respected, and genuinely liked Frank. His commitment and passion to high end audio, combined with his youthful enthusiasm to constantly keep improving things set the best of examples. As so many here mentioned, he was a person noteworthy for his kindness and generosity with his time and the material blessings he received. The community here is meaningfully less without him.
Godspeed, Frank. Hope you and those close to you find peace!
Very saddened to hear.....must be two years ago when I first called Frank over our enthusiasm for the PPT line.
Over many calls, Frank told of growing up in post-war California and of how beautiful it was then. He often mentioned a school teacher who left a life-long impression on him and other kids by teaching the importance of a pocket knife and taking classrooms into the woods to teach kids how to camp.
He told of hanging out in West-coast jazz clubs circa 1960 and witnessing some recording sessions, when the studios used big, analog equipment. He had a love for recordings of un-retouched sound that was not "drenched in reverb", as he put it. He sent many of us CDs of master recordings, some used to demo gear in audio stores of the era. Frank was generous in reminding us of what is still possible today.
If you had ever called Frank and heard his recorded message, you heard his ending of, "Hey, do you know how terrific you look with that big smile on your face?" And you would smile....
Very sorry to hear of Frank's passing. I always enjoyed reading his posts, which were invariably enthusiastic and generous. He was that rare audiophile who seemed to love music as much as his gear. I especially loved his posts on jazz. RIP, Frank. You'll be missed.
Opened a bottle of Pernoud-Verglesses Clos Berthet Premir Cru, the 2014, with the Righteous Brothers. Now my first bottle of Angel's Envy Finished Rye, and here's to you, Frank, hope you enjoy the Vikki Carr, I know you do. Had it set aside for something special, and Angel's Envy, almost too perfect. RIP buddy, RIP.
I am reading his synergistic purple fuse experience, and I could sense his passion on this hobby.Truly a nice person and very knowledgeable, He will be missed, R.I.P. and God bless your family and comfort them.

Great guy. We pm'ed each other a few times and I never would've known anything was wrong with him. 81 years, he was so full of life. They don't make'em like him anymore...
Wow! I was just getting ready to message Frank ( oregonpapa) and saw this thread when my tablet screen lit up. He had left a message about something I had posted. But he left his comment on my system page. Considering the comments, this is somewhat surreal.
I will Miss Frank dearly. He was an amazing person. He introduced me to so much. I will always celebrate our friendship. He was truly a kind soul and will be missed dearly. Rest In Peace, Uncle Frank.
