Are Metal Speaker Grilles an Issue? I've tried with every speaker I've had recently to hear a difference tween grills on or off, fabric grillls on Von Schweikert VR4jr and Paradigm Studio 60's. No difference to my ears (and I can hear differences between interconnects and power cabl...
Time For a CD Player Upgrade @mellowshifi I bought a 'factory reconditioned' new Hegel Mohician - right from the start, the CD tray would not load the CD, have to turn the unit off just as the drawer closes to get it to load. Then playback started skipping, have to hit forwa...
Biwiring make any sense? 20+ years ago I had Paradigm Studio 60's and 4 Marantz MA500 mono blocks, with bi-wiring. The dynamic range seemed better, the bass slam also a little better. My take away is the same gains can be achieved by putting the money for the extra spe...

Bob James Gotta mention Gabor Szabo 'Macho' - has signature BJ all over it with gypsy Gabor guitar. Like a Bob James album with Gabor playing. Also Bob James Earl Klugh 'one on one' get regular spins.
What was the most expensive record that you ever bought ? Since someone asked, this is the original british Electric Ladyland cover: Got this image from the web and the red stripes were added for modesty, not on the original image
What was the most expensive record that you ever bought ? @noromance - That's a pretty good price, I also lost my log book and was searching for it at record shows and it was always $100 and up. Always missing from the album when I found them for sale. Same for Cheech and Chong Big Bamboo with the giant ...

Recommendations for really well-recorded music for high-end audio system demo Any Porcupine Tree, its all recorded well - methinks 'Blackest eyes' or 'strip the soul' off In Absentia would connect musically with some in that group. Any Pink Floyd from Dark Side or Wish you were here albums.
Dickie Betts died earlier today at 80 years of age Thought it was a good time to share the story about the Live at the Filmore cover, such a classic with everyone laughing and smiling. In case you didn't hear the backstory: There's a famous story that goes with the shooting of the Allman Brothers...
Speaker cable length. I have an 8' run and a 17' running under the floor similar to your config. Imagining is spot on centered, volume seems the same level in both. Cables are Morrow SP4 or SP5 can't remember. Amp is Hegel H20, speakers Magico A3.
Hegel viking CD player @samgar2 -- my Mohican also recently developed some skipping after 3 years. I noticed it seemed to lessen as the player warmed up about 1 hour. Spoke to the dealer who thought it could be a lubrication issue, the laser mechanism rides on two rail...
Best Covers @andy8400 -- always loved that song, and was suprised to see it tagged as a cover. Listened to both versions, different lyrics, looked it up on Allmusic.com and Ann and Nancy Wilson and Sue Ennis are credited as the writers on BeBe le Strange.. J...
Hegel viking CD player I have the predecessor the Mohician. Compared to roughly a 5K vinyl setup (VPI Prime/Audiotechnica ART9 cartridge), very little difference between CD and vinyl playback, I know blasphamy but they're really close, each with some different strengths...
