@teo_audio -

     Feynman was and will remain, my favorite lecturer (yeah: I'm that old).

     He mentioned often (and: I took to heart) his favorite Rule of Life: "Never stop learning!"

     For all his genius, he never grew overconfident, in his beliefs.    The perfect obverse to the Dunning-Kruger sufferer.

     ie:  “I can live with doubt and uncertainty and not knowing. I think it is much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers that might be wrong.”

     and: “I have approximate answers, and possible beliefs, and different degrees of certainty about different things, but I’m not absolutely sure of anything.”

     Tesla is probably my favorite innovator, who (despite the incessant, projectile vomit, from his day's naysayers), took the World, kicking and screaming, into the 20th century, with his inventions.

                                                  His thoughts:

     “Anti-social behavior is a trait of intelligence in a world full of conformists.”

     “All that was great in the past was ridiculed, condemned, combatted, suppressed, only to emerge all the more powerfully, all the more triumphantly from the struggle.”

     NO: I was never an MC fanboy, BUT: he DID experiment, trust and believe his own ears and capacity to discern reality, then: share his conclusions, which makes him a loss to this site, in my opinion.

                         iow (like it or not): I couldn't agree with you more!

     ie: "I wonder if he will allow the discussion of unfounded conspiracy theories on his website?

I dearly hope so.

It’s the only difference between the intelligent and the dense. Thinking openly vs the dogmatic mind of the herd machine.

eg, all of physics is a ’conspiracy.’" ...etc = +1

HaaaaHaaaa, that home page is a doozie, some creepy looking dude with a sock on his head and a “ would you like to see my basement “ vacant stare !

**** With him not here to hand it out, there’s no need for us to respond in kind.****

Could have fooled me. It is amazing to me how blind some are (and were) to their own behavior. This thread is a great example; and there have been many.
There is seldom a “need” to respond in kind when the behavior being responded to is negative. Equally amazing is how thin skinned many are. So silly to have (and continue to) let someone they don’t know personally and who has no real power over them get under their skins the way that he did. Those clamoring for more civility here should consider that the best way to achieve that is usually to rise above the fray.

I'll add that when you make this big a negative impact on this many people, you're doing something right.  If nobody cares, then you aren't accomplishing anything.

@tyray Thanks. Note the removed covers are not for cooling. Removing the metal plate literally opens up the sound.

Let's just be thankful he's gone.  Such knowledge as he had was not value for the rudeness.

The forum is much nicer without him.  His loss seems to have mellowed many other contributors, myself included.  With him not here to hand it out, there's no need for us to respond in kind.

Wonder if he's ruining some other forum somewhere?  He was interested in cars f'rinstance.  I have Porsches but haven't seen him.  And ditto watches, Rolex.

@nonoise *L* One doesn’t need to care, actually.

It’s the whole evolution of a sort of meme... ;)

I’ve this shirt that states:

Free Contradictions!
$1

There’s too many breezes blowing up my aft to steer by here.... ;)

Perhaps attempting not to stare at the nascent birth of a neo audioguruvie....?

...maybe reciting the Lord’s Prayer backwards over a copy of the Audio Bible (or one’s current ’imho’ version) face down on a backwards pentagram on the bottom of a Mac amp of baked regard....with a moaning maiden as a distraction?

I’ll come...🤪

And those cable risers...So simple, yet so elegant. What a craftsman you are. I’m gonna steal every audio/hifi idea from you I can.

@noromance, I know this is way off topic but, nice audio rig/hifi basement/den setup! It’s got a very vintage constructed look. I don’t know what I like the most, your rig set up or your album racks...?

And the way you’ve taken the hood off some your gear to take advantage of the basements ambient cooling, outstanding free tweak!

I love the look and functionality of the custom speaker stands and the turntable platform that looks as stout as any I've seen, with the inexpensive Nobsound Spring Isolation too boot.

And just so you know, like a lot of us, I’ve bumped heads with MC many a times. So much so I’ve lost count...

I don't think he got kicked of this website as I've seen him pop up every now and then.

@fuzztone

Looks sick to me. Time for last rites?

Fuzz really!? Words have power/vibrations...You actually took the time and energy to write the above statement about someone?

Shame on Agon moderators for even letting something like that with an association of a preponderance of death and sickness of someone appear on this site.

MC has a nice and well crafted website. And to me if that is a picture of MC, I thought the guy looked in good shape for his age. Hey, but that’s just me.

Post removed

MC understands marketing.  Be hated....have someone start a thread to promote it and then watch the flock come.  How many of you checked out his website?  Genius.  Good Luck MC in your new venture.

Still living rent free in a lot of peoples heads. I think I understand why many audiophiles listen to music alone. They don't actually like anyone.

I would suggest the picture on his site is from younger days and earlier gear.

“ Without doubt many of you didnt like his politics. I certainly dont care enough to visit his site.“

Amusing to observe the life forms that do …

@tsushima1 you make it pretty clear anyone who holds different views are sub-human. How very inclusive of you.

As some have said, he helped me. Also, as others have said he was abusive and self-important. I don’t like that he and others have been banned from this site, it seems that as adults we should be able to read something and survive. Hell, it might even be possible to just not read someone else’s post when you know you don’t care for them!

+1 @teo-audio

Looking at his site again I'm a tad obsessed with his backyard it's colorful and a bit eerie looking.

I wonder if he will allow the discussion of unfounded conspiracy theories on his website?

I dearly hope so.

It’s the only difference between the intelligent and the dense. Thinking openly vs the dogmatic mind of the herd machine.

eg, all of physics is a ’conspiracy.’

Logic allows for the existence of not one single fact. that the truth is quantum, where the only fact that exists, is that there are no facts. Paradox. it’s all we’ve got. Where, still, to this very minute, in physics.... it is still turtles all the way down.

Why would Elon musk talk about simulation theory? it's because nothing else truly makes any real sense. With an Iq of 150+, he's far from an idiot. The reason most others don't talk about it openly is due to the projections of violence from the herd animals among us who lose it when things get complex and tricky. It's messy out there!

All scientific exploration begins in philosophical discussion on the nature of things. ie, the parent of science is philosophy. Without the idea of questioning the questioner no logic would exist.

I was just watching a series from James Cameron on Science Fiction, and at the given point, the Interviewee, was Ridley Scott. In it he stated (I paraphrase most negatively) that if one does not question all thing at all times, they’re clearly an idiot.

And so on.

I'm not there but my new contact enhancer from NanoFlo is remarkable. High impact purchase. Tom

I don't understand the gear pictured on that forum let alone the room.  Totally different room and gear is on there. Must be an imposter who shares the same love for contact enhancers.

“ Without doubt many of you didnt like his politics. I certainly dont care enough to visit his site.“

Amusing to observe the life forms that do …

Well unlike others he wasnt always wrong regarding audio. I think most of you objected more to his demeanor than his opinions. Without doubt many of you didnt like his politics. I certainly dont care enough to visit his site.

No only in his mind. More like the Anti-Christ.

Is this guy some kind of God,or something?

I swear that isochronic and arty5 were reading my mind and making off with it as their own, right down to citing things that I've complained about. Since when is victimhood a thing?

As for MC, like tsushima1 says, meh...

All the best,
Nonoise

Miller is a promoter of other people's property. His placement of a product and word craft may make some think these are his by design. Which is exactly what he wants. Butt none came from his mind. Tom

I’ve known a few, genuine geniuses in my lifetime. MC shares nothing in common with them, imo.

I’ve known quite a few who wanted to be considered geniuses, and who pretended they were. Fate catches up to them sooner or later, in my experience. And it's never pretty.

@baylinor be nice! Have respect for the Banished.

@twoleftears it was posted yesterday.

I did send him a message and he did reply. He said he is having fun doing the web stuff.

His room sure looks different. He came out of the closet sort of speak.

Unfortunately the "I'm better than you" syndrome is not specific to MC on this site. In fact some of the ones who rail against him are guilty of the same behavior. Thankfully lots of folks are very respectful here but others love spending their time lecturing the "uneducated". This sense of entitlement is counter productive and disrespectful. MC did open my mind to a few things but because of his style, I do not miss him.

@cleeds

It seemed he was mostly about himself and I wasn't much interested.

Actually, I have seen more people thank him publicly than any other poster here. His ability to be abrasive gets high marks, but I took him as a troubled genius because I have seen this before

What are the stacked cans in the main page photo?

-Vienna sausages?

-anchovies?

-Sterno?

@isochronism

That is very true. This is a topsy turvy world  And each of us bring our own worldview into any discussion. Its a shame so many bring such outright poor attitudes. This is nowhere near the forum I joined 20 yrs ago or even 8-10 yrs ago.  People shared a common cause...audio. But now it seems as if some come here just to argue and be rude and show poor manners.

BTW, The statement I quoted that got removed."Go play in the freeway"

@mahgister

I dont hate people....I answer them or go silent....

But where is oldhvymec ?

There is  almost no trace of his  past existence here....

Audiogon banned him without reason it seems...

Why?

I often wonder if A'gon even cares about this forum anymore, now that the insider status gets them more $$$. Moderators? Are there really any here? I don't know. Earlier in the week I had a post cancelled. They sited the sentence which was egregious. But that sentence was a quote I copied from  Nonoise. in which I disagreed.Funnier still is that they left the original post of his up and took my quote and disagreement down.

Guys, you realize it's April 1st.  Most appropriate day for this news to break.

I dont know for Millercarbon....

I am happy if he feel better in his new journey....

I miss his "colorful" posts....

Are we just dust waiting to be put out of the table?

Or human being?

Kinda weird the the dude is being brought up as a thread subject. So he's out, Leave it at that.

Why is it weird? People here spend years on the site conversing, exchanging ideas, jokes, etc. with someone who then disappears. Mentioning them seems quite normal.

Consider: if someone you spent hours conversing with in your personal life just disappeared and popped up elsewhere, it would be worth a mention, no? Weird that you think it’s weird.
