Perfect Path Technologies: Omega E mat
I received my second e mat yesterday. Now 24 hours later I have heard further improvements. The thing I noticed right away was that I have even more bass and more of a fuller sound in my room. Soundstage continues to expand and yes the noice floor has dropped even more. The inner details previously hidden are more apparent. It is great fun to crank the music and have a system that totally sings and is not missing a beat or under any stress, and this is when I really crank the sound to what used to be its stress limit. Music sounds so live and real and full of energy. I have never had this much fun with my music system and even a lot of my old cds from the 80s are sounding good |
I have a question for those with several mats. Has anyone experimented which components or which combination of components sound best with the mats? I have 3 mats and initially decided to place 1 on the power conditioner since all my components are plugged into it. (I didn't place a mat on my circuit breaker box but applied TC to the inside of the door instead). The other 2 mats were placed on the music server and the dac but not the tube integrated amp. I could experiment switching or stacking the mats but that could take several weeks since it takes about 2 weeks for the mats to reach their full potential with each component. Any recommendations? |
After 603 posts about the Omega E-Mat I decided to pull the trigger and order one. I plan to place it, using the magnetic side, to the inside of my 200 amp service located in the basement just outside of my listening room. I’m hoping to hear improvements in audio down here and visual improvements on my 65" UHD screen. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if any customers have returned the E-Mat after sufficient trial time? 🤔 |

None that I know of. Everyone seems to be happy with the mats. Congrats, by the way. You’ve made a good choice for the location of your "first" mat. :-) ronrags ... I, and others, found that under the line stage is the best place to double up the mats. That’s after placing one in the circuit breaker box though. Frank |
hifiman5: I also think the circuit breaker box is an excellent location for a first Mat. If possible place it in the circuit breaker after a listening session and then let it start to equilibrate overnight before your first listen. I think you will hear additional changes at about 3 days, and then a blossoming of sound at 12-14 days. I think you should have a firmly stabilized system at 21 days. I found this time table also applied to visual improvement in my video system.Sharper images, more 3D sensation, and more vivid colors. Old black and white movies also benefit from the Mat. Ronrags: I have not tried the Mat with my tube amplifiers, but my circuit breaker was completely treated with Total Contact before I added a Mat at this location. The Mat gave additional benefits. The Mat certainly has a positive effect with Pass Lab amplifiers. David Pritchard |
Just the one E-Mat over the main breaker panel has improved the picture quality (depth and color) on a Sony 940D and suprisingly, the bass and depth of a pair of ADS 600s two way speakers attached to a Yamaha CR600. My wife and I are amused and happy to have elevated the audio of our TV so much (sounds twice as big) with just a single E-Mat over the main breaker panel. The main audio system is located 50' away and isolated with it's own subpanel and 12" thick double walls. |
Continuing the idea of improving one’s Audio-Visual System: Yesterday I upgraded the wall outlet to the AV system to a Synergistic Research Blue outlet. Another improvement to movie watching satisfaction. Picture quality improved and Audio dynamics especially improved. The combination of using Omega E Mats and Synergistic Research Blue outlets is most satisfying. David Pritchard |
My three black and two red duplexes are obsolete? How bad are they? I really like the sound improvement from the black duplex. The blue fuse doesn’t make the black fuse obsolete, but somewhat better. I could still live with a black fuse but I really liked the immediate improvement of the blue fuse. The difference between the colored SR fuses and colored SR duplexes do not compare to the great improvement in sound using six E-Mats. The E-Mats are more like the difference between a stock cheap non-audiophile fuse and an SR black or blue fuse. |

thecarpathian ... Thanks for the suggestion on the Kona coffee. I’ve tried the Kona coffees and they are lovely. I find them a bit too smooth for my tastes though. I’ve posted my source for green coffee beans before, but here it is again: www.sweetmarias.com If you go to the site and check out the coffees, you’ll find a graph that shows the characters of each variety. I like the ones with the chocolate overtones. That’s usually the Guatemalan coffees and sometimes the African coffees. However, the Africans are usually noted for their fruity overtones ... a bit of ripe plum, peach or apricot. My brother likes the Africans a lot. This morning, I brewed some top notch coffee from Ethiopia ... yum, very chocolaty in nature. I like a nice bright cup with the flavors unraveling and exposing themselves as the cup cools a bit. At that point, the really good ones hit you with a bit of sweetness right back where the jaw hinges on each side. I love that ... and the Guatemalan coffees seem to get it really right most of the time. No sweeteners needed. I usually go along with what Tom & Maria suggest on their site. Oh, and their service is top notch. Most folks brew their coffee way too strong. What I described above is achieved with lighter brews. If you, or anyone else would like some guidance on which roaster to buy, I’d be more than happy to help. Frank |
^^^ Thanks, carpathian ... I was wondering if you home roast, or have ever done so. The person I bought my speakers from years ago was a home roaster and he turned me on to it. I was already into good coffees (Gevalia) and had it home delivered pre-roasted. It was good coffee, but the person who sold me the speakers sent me a quarter pound of four different varieties that he roasted. I was sold after one sip. It was that good. While I enjoy reading all the audio adventures 99% of you are having, I am really interested in whether other improvements have been experienced other than audio/video? Many pages back I asked a similar question and was churlishly put down as a troll. Why would a question about other improvements be out of place? I read that many mats have been placed in the breaker boxes/ fuse boxes what ever the particular country parlance is. I would be interested if the mats do have an effect on other appliances. Bedside clocks would be an example as these share an electrical feed from the fuse box. I am not "putting down" something I know little about. Is the mat that could be appraised by a mag such as Stereophile? It seems that much of the knowledge and experience is word of mouth and perhaps a lot of audiophiles out in the world are missing out? |
amg56 ... I don't believe that I've ever put you down for anything. And I won't. Ever. To answer your question ... 1. Audio ... you know about that. 2. Video ... you know about that. 3. Appliances --- I've had to turn the temperature up three times in my refrigerator. Because it runs more efficiently, it kept freezing the vegetables in the vegetable drawer. 4. Lights in the house seem brighter. 5. Street lights are brighter. 6. Overall electric bill has gone down by about 10%. All of the above include the Mats in the circuit breaker box and judicious use of TC in places unimaginable. :-) Frank |

This means that companies who sell their products direct, not through dealers, can never get a review, no matter how effective and/or popular their products may be. An example of this would be Herbie’s Audio Lab. They have been making excellent, effective vibration control products (tube dampers, footers etc.) for many years. However, because they sell direct, none of their products have ever been reviewed in Stereophile or TAS. As you know, when dealers get involved, you have substantial markups. This means higher prices. How many wonderful, reasonably priced, audio products are not as well known as they should be, because of those two magazine’s policies? |

I'm going to assume that you haven't put mats or TC around your neighborhood lights so.... isn't it possible that streets and sanitation cleaned the lights, or the moon cycle illumination affected the sense of increased lighting or etc, etc. IDK Frank. ^^^ Naw, you guys missed the humor. All kidding aside. Small appliances seem to work more efficiently. As an example, last night I put a bag of popcorn in the microwave. It usually takes exactly two minutes on high to complete. Last night it was done in one minute and forty five seconds. No joke. No joke about the refrigerator or the electric bill either. Has to be the results of the two mats in the circuit breaker box. Get six mats from Tim and try them for yourselves. If you don't get the results I've described in any of my posts, return them for a refund. No questions asked. ^^^ david_ten ... I know David .. and when you think about it, that was 15 seconds of electricity I didn’t have to use. Multiply that by all of the household appliances ... the fans (its hot here), the TV, the refrigerator, the microwave, etc. That would account for the drop in the electric bill. I can only imagine the savings if one were to use air conditioning. Over time, I believe the mats would pay for themselves. In thinking about it, I wonder what the savings would be if these mats were used in a large office building, or say in a hospital where air conditioning is used constantly? They have huge circuit breaker panels, so it would take a lot of mats ... or maybe just one large one? :-) I think if I were a much younger guy and not breaking down physically, I’d work out a deal with Tim to rep these mats to businesses ... on a strictly commission basis of course. Now THAT would be a lot of fun for sure. Ah geeze ... now I have my salesman juices going again. Its time for more coffee and watching the news. *lol* Frank |

No, I have mine placed just inside the circuit breaker box exterior door. Nothing is on the breakers themselves. With that said, there are those here who have pasted their circuit breaker’s connections with "Total Contact" with outstanding effects and used electricians to help out. I think one or two guys have done it themselves, but then they have the skill sets to do it. Personally, I’d get an electrician to do anything beyond the breaker box door. But that’s just me. I don’t like major voltages ... and they don’t like me. Frank |
^^^ uberwaltz ... I just had a conversation with Fleischer and he reminded me of something. We are both experiencing having to lower the volume control on our audio systems. The great dynamics and musicality remain. So, I'm assuming that it means more efficient use of electricity there as well. I'm going to try the "pint sized varmints" too. One place I'm going to try them in, is the inside cover of my Sound Application power conditioner. I'll try to place some around the twelve sockets too. I'd paste the inside of the cover with TC too, but I'm out of product now. When Al raised the question in a previous post about magnets and their effects on pace makers, I took one of the Omega E Mats into my cardiologist and explained the uses for the mats and the fact that I have a lot of drivers in my speakers, which of course means more exposure to magnets. The cardiologist told me that the warnings in the after surgery instruction booklets are over the top, written by corporate lawyers, just to avoid any possibility of litigation. As an example, the booklet tells you not to put your cell phone in a shirt pocket that is near the pacemaker. The cardiologist told me that the only way to affect a pacemaker negatively with magnets, would be to put a powerful magnet ... much more powerful than what these mats and speakers could generate, directly on the pacemaker itself. So, in other words, there is no concern of screwing up the pacemaker with handling the Omega E Mats or standing in front of stereo speakers. I personally thanked Al for his concern in a PM. :-) Excellent question though ... Frank PS: I’m kind of sorry I didn’t take a tube of Total Contact into the surgery room with me and instructed the surgeon to paste the connections that hook the wires up from the veins to the pacemaker. I’ll bet I would have ended up with the most efficient pacemaker on the planet ... and a great sounding heart beat to boot. . *lol* |
Frank, Well, since you danced around the question; I will ask again. Since there seems to be no danger; Are you going to try an E mat taped to your chest???? All reports seem to indicate that increased performance can be expected. Not only advancing HEA but also medical science. For medical science and improving the rest of your life; should be worth a try. You could use an elastic wrap instead of tape. Forget the TC; you blew that. You can still use the mats though. You should try 2-3 on both your chest and 2-3 on your back. Since I was diagnosed with an incurable disease in Sept 2017. It is quite amazing what you are willing to do. The drug that has a 68% chance of prolonging my life is very hard on my immune system. My second infusion; Kicked my butt for six weeks before my system started to recover with the help of more drugs. Now, I do not need to sleep 14-16 hours a day. 7-9 and a nap in the afternoon is not too bad. Next infusion is in November. Hope I make it. Be Well Norbert |
nkonor ... I’m sorry about your situation. It sucks. To answer your question ... nope, I’m not going to tape an Omega E Mat to my chest. The older I get, the more I realize that life itself is terminal. Human life is a natural cycle. None of us is getting out of it alive ... and we all leave life in our own way. I look at my four grandchildren, and my three great grandchildren and realize that we old duffers have to get out of the way to make room for the new generations. Nature takes care of that for us. Believing in a glorious afterlife seems to help. :-) The key is not how much one acquires in life, but in the quality of the relationships one leaves behind. Also important is to lead a disciplined life. Why? Because discipline weighs ounces ... regret weighs tons. Frank |

@tommylion Thanks for the explanation of how reviews are selected in the mags. I suppose it makes sense that we, the consumer, pay via elevated prices on products for the manufacturer to pay a mag to review a product. I would have thought a review for public benefit or interest would have been an inclusion, but flipping back through the odd audio mags I read while "on the pot", it seems the only public interest is the letters to the editor. @nkonor I sympathise, and empathise with you. I am so sorry to hear of your plight. It amazes me to read posts by individuals, try to imagine what they look like, but never think of their personal wellbeing. I hope/pray your condition does not worsen. I would be able to afford a few mats and some TC if it wasn't for the cost of the drugs and constant stays in hospital! @oregonpapa Do not go too close to induction cooktops. These ARE powerful and CAN effect pacemakers and some metallic implants. It was my own specialist who warned me after I joked about it. He was very serious. I recall visiting my grandmother who lived 500 miles away, just after my end of school exams, and I was as nervous as heck about my pass mark so I could go to Uni. She was a lady of the land and she said "Worry is like a rocking chair. It keeps you occupied but does get you anywhere". A very wise old lady who I miss. My own parents just turned 94 and had their 70th wedding anni. I hope I am able to emulate them as Jen and I have just had our 40th. 30 to go! |
It has been more than three weeks since I placed the mat on the rear of the breaker panel door and the only word that comes to mind is WOW 🤯 The music is just beautiful. Notes are more fully fleshed out. Details that we’re uncovered at the beginning of the TC and the first mat are now much more integrated into the musical whole. Dynamics are also incredible and more life like without turning up the volume. Having said that, I did turn up the volume ever so slightly and the music became more powerful without any strain to the system. This has been recently reported and I experienced the exact same thing. A huge and clear soundstage with the afore mentioned detail also opened up further. It it has also been reported that even marginal cds are sounding good. That has been my experience as well. I hear more musical detail, that I thought was irritating noise, that is now better defined and part of the performance. To me, these two mats have been incredibly effective in making the music much better in my system for a very reasonable cost. Prayers to those of you fighting ailments. Rc |
