To clean the female, banana plug cavity of binding posts I either remove a bit of cotton off a Q-tip or fold a pipe cleaner. I use Flitz metal cleaner and just make sure you get it all off. Use real Q-tip brand rolled paper, the plastic shaft ones bend easy and are useless.

Ever heard of Q-tips? Probably not. Apparently never heard of keeping toddlers away from electronics either. I think we got off on the wrong foot. I do believe you tried 1260, I do believe you heard a difference, and I do generally find your comments on the topic mildly interesting. Your advice regarding my system, my personal behavior or decisions I make, not so much. My sincere apologies if my response to you made you think otherwise - I was merely being civil. |
rushfan71I have some of Bob's cables. Mad Scientist Nitro power cables, upgraded to Mad Scientist Nitro Nano power cables, and Black Magic USB. Have a couple of his Graphene tubes. Will be the last tweak. Still too much moving of things to use it. About to send my amp away to get some parts replaced. |
You going for a ride in a car missing one front wheel? Think it might be dangerous? But, you are an idiot for never trying it first. Your pathetic analogy is absurd and completely non pertinent to the topic … as is your presence on this forum. If you think your imagined “knowledge” trumps what I, and the other posters observe, you are delusional. Just go away, you irritate me … and most other posters. |
Ever heard of Q-tips? Probably not. Apparently never heard of keeping toddlers away from electronics either. Don’t get me wrong, my sound is worth more to me than the lives of my friends’ children, but I just don’t want to have to deal with the fallout afterwards. Wait- what? So either you’re a towering sociopath, or a terrible troll. Or both? The only come back to that is leave the amp on and they will not be pulling tubes. Trust me. |
Then don’t put it places it can’t be removed until you are sure. I’d most like to use it on tube pins. However, I had a toddler pull a tube off one of my amps and stick it in his mouth. Toddlers can pull bananas and power plugs too. Try on spades, bananas, where it is easily removed. True for spades, false for bananas. How do you get the female cavity on the binding posts clean? I’ll wait for the non toxic version. Don’t get me wrong, my sound is worth more to me than the lives of my friends’ children, but I just don’t want to have to deal with the fallout afterwards. |
@pauly , sticks and stones. You going for a ride in a car missing one front wheel? Think it might be dangerous? But, you are an idiot for never trying it first. Some of us actually know what is going on so we can be self assured in our position. What you think you hear is in reality what you think you hear. Hearing is so plastic it is an unreliable gauge to use in assessing audio accuracy. I did not say sound quality. I do not like perfectly accurate sound in regards to frequency response. But you have to start somewhere and Flat is as good a place as any. Do you know what flat sounds like? Do you have any idea what the frequency response of your system in your room is? You can measure it you know. |
I must admit, I did have a reluctance when I ordered the1260. But, I also felt that way when I first tried a high end power cord. I think it was a called the Synergistic Master Coupler. Wow was I surprised! Some add-ons/ tweaks make little if any difference, but I have tried many that do. My point is, in this hobby it is the quest for the "absolute sound" we will never achieve it but it is a fun journey. P.S. Like the Synergistic Master Coupler the 1260 caught me by surprised. You are missing out if you don't try it. ozzy |

Some of us have the audacity to stand up to this BS. I'm not doing this for my own gratification although I have to admit it is fun tweaking these people. I am doing it to save people who are not as learned about these things from wasting their hard earned money on garbage." BS, your arrogance is spilling all over the keyboard. No direct experience with the product. Opinion based on nothing. Is it too expensive for you? Would you say the same if it was 6 bucks a bottle? Judging by the ones that have actually used it, the product is hardly garbage. You are actually making yourself look quite foolish. |
@theaudiotweak , jealousy will get you no where. Some of us have the audacity to stand up to this BS. Only a complete idiot would claim a product doesn’t work without ever trying it. You do realize of course you are talking about mapman, mijostyn, georgehifi, and at least a dozen other highly "respected" members? What holds me back is I have concerns as to how to remove it afterwards if I do not like it. It wipes off with ordinary alcohol. I don’t want to end up needing to replace tube sockets, power receptacles etc. Then don’t put it places it can’t be removed until you are sure. Try on spades, bananas, where it is easily removed. Which once you hear it I doubt you will. But that is always the safest way to go about it. |
Only a complete idiot would claim a product doesn’t work without ever trying it. I don’t know if it does work, but I have no reason to doubt those who have tried it and say it does. As far as I know, nobody who has tried it has found it doesn’t work. What holds me back is I have concerns as to how to remove it afterwards if I do not like it. I don't want to end up needing to replace tube sockets, power receptacles etc. |
I am not going to buy this stuff. But I find it ridiculous when people present their opinion even without experiencing the product. Of course they are entitled to their opinions - but they may not be valid. And to ridicule someone because they found a positive impact in their system is even more surprising. The differences in how systems are setup makes a huge impact on resolving power and identifying minuscule changes. |
Thanx clearthinker for thinking clearly. Please let me be more blunt. Anybody who buys this stuff is being sucker punched. It does ABSOLUETLY NOTHING to improve the quality of ANYTHING. Please, spend your money on better equipment. Support those that make an honest living making great equipment for us not these charlatans. |
This "newer poster" posted this because I was serious in asking my original question. The reason: It reminded me of that other guy here who used to sell his magic rocks and wall plates claiming all kinds of crazy miracles. I honestly thought this was one of those endeavors. I was wrong. Don't lose any sleep over it. |
I have used Stabilant 22 for a number of years , then went in 3 ways on a larger bottle , the 1260 = the 2520 is excellent I gave it a thin coat waited 2 weeks and reapplied ,Excellent results ,if you don’t touch good for years ,do all including all Ac blades ,the key Very important is cleaning Every contact rca,xlr with high purity Isopropyl alcohol on quality swabs .I use the Caig swabs for the cheap foam swabs the alcohol melts the adhesive on the swabs AC outlets should be copper ,gold even on AC connectors, for brass Hubble or other type a black oxide forms which robs detail yes even on the AC line. |
Ozzy, this site has so changed for the worse with many “newer”posters not at all open minded or pursuing sonic excellence. I have learned to just speak the truth based on my experience and let the “others” be negative and uninformed. I still use this forum to learn from the seasoned and well experienced who are really passionate about getting the very most out of their systems and music in their homes. |
So, I’m not all the way a believer…but can definitely appreciate the potential for benefit. Now…is there any other type of product that can still at least/almost meet the benefits of this product half-way at about 1/8 the cost? Or even less? Hopefully without detrimental side effects to connectors and contact points. Forgive the question…I realize this is (already) a well-beaten path 🙏🏼 |
Sadly, possibly not - if this product is based on 'Stabilant 22' - then it does actually do significant good as a contact enhancer/decrapifier. 20 years ago, a Very Large Airplane Company in Seattle was paying something close to $5000+ per liter for full strength bottles of this stuff. Cagey HiFi folks carried empty 'White-Out' bottles and caged dropper fills from the electronics techs - a 10 Ml dropper full made a perfect 5:1 dilution in a 50 Ml White-Out bottle, and would treat all the low-level signal connections in a stereo system. Avionics testers loved Stabilant 22, because they'd have a high degree of confidence that anomalous results came from the 'Device Under Test' - and not from within their test rig. They'd build up a room full of gear, run a calibration test, and create a performance parameter document. Then they'd test some shiny new widget, look at the readouts, curse, and rerun calibration. Glee and jubilation would breakout when the testing lash up came out spot on the document spec - which it would do for months or even years after the initial build - there simply was no discernable drift or fluctuation caused by their complex cabling. They'd get to send the red-tagged widget back to engineering for rework on a Thursday - forcing weekend overtime for "The idiots who don't know how the <really> test things" - and all go off to the racetrack to bet on the ponies. |
