Collectibles signed by musicians. What do you have?

After getting a new equipment rack, I needed to change the wall decor.  I found a good spot to hang a guitar on the wall.

This guitar was signed by the original members of Collective Soul in 1995.  It's been verified by the band.  I had posted a photo as a comment on their Facebook page. Both Ed and Dean Roland liked the post. I thought that was pretty cool.

I found the guitar at a Guitar Center in Las Vegas.  It's a decent Mexican Telecaster.  It's not something that they sold to the public.  Probably given as a prize, etc.

I don't have much else.  A Triumph album signed by Rik Emmett.

I bet some of you people have some cool signed items and stories to go with it.  I would be interested in hearing about it if you care to share.

A Sam and Dave greatest hits album signed when they played Johnathan Swifts in Cambridge and a Traffic album signed by producer Jimmy Miller whom my friend knew when in lived in Malden Ma.

Close up Photo I took of Dick Dale playing in concert at a small local venue with ticket stub  signed by “The King of Surf Guitar” himself who was hangin out with us fans after the show.

Not really a whole lot. Two or three CDs signed by Lucinda Williams and also a picture that was taken of Ms. Williams and me that she signed; a couple of CDs signed by Margo Timmins (and one also signed by Peter and Michael Timmins and Alan Anton) and also a poster signed by all of them; and a poster signed by Rory Block. Catie Curtis and Patty Larkin and Denise Franke also signed CDs for me. Not that the last three mean less to me than the first group, just that I thought of them last and didn’t feel like retyping. Which I guess would have been just as expedient as what I did do.  Oh, and I think Bo Ramsey signed a CD for me also.

A black and white photo of Muhammed Ali and the Beatles with signatures of the Beatles and Ali and a Brandi Carlile signed album.

@immatthewj thats quite a lot, actually

@sls883 , when I first started typing my reply to your thread,I was thinking ". . . well, no guitars . . ." (which is REAL cool!) and all I could think of was the CDs I had Lucinda and The Cowboy Junkies sign, but after that then I remembered the picture that Lucinda signed for me, and then I remembered some posters and a few more CDs. . . . After I did an edit to add those last couple or three things I was thinking that I actually had more than I thought of to begin with, but I forgot to edit out that first sentence that I prefaced my reply with. Anyway, you brought back some great memories for me with your thread--thanks!

Oh, and on edit I’ll add a tee-shirt that Ms. Williams signed the back of after a show in Cleveland! (But I might have trouble finding that one.) And now that I think of it, a post card that Kasey Chambers signed!

Cool ! I just got back to my room from a Collective Soul concert at the Venetian. So I literally watched them 30 minutes ago. The first time I saw them was in 1995 at the Rainbow Ballroom in Fresno. Although it’s not an expensive guitar,  I just mingled with dozens of people that would cherish it. Also consider that they promote love and spiritual living.I’m sure someone would be eager to purchase it if you decide to let it go. Cheers , Mike.

A ticket to a Merle Haggard show in Bakersfield signed by Merle.  A CD of Jacob Dylan signed by Jacob.  A CD of Jesse Winchester signed by Jesse.

@buellrider97 That's awesome. I need to go see them again.  It's been a number of years since I've seen them.   On a side note, their music video called Home is really good if you haven't seen it.

I know that a Mexican Telecaster isn't real expensive. They were bringing around $250 at the time. Probably around $600 now. It's just not a less expensive Squire, or some unrecognized brand.  My son is a guitar player and he got me interested in collecting guitars, so I have quite a few.  I stumbled upon the CS guitar by accident.

A rare Larry Coryell, Fairyland LP signed by Larry. Saw him at a show at Blues Alley a few years before he died.

Not collectible, but my favorite piece of music art is a poster from the Joyous Lake in Woodstock of NRBQ, signed by Al,Terry, Joey , Tom, Don and  Gary, circa 1980. Framed and hanging on the wall near my system.

I forgot, I also have a fully-signed LP by the Statler Brothers.  I "won it" in a silent auction in Nashville that was a benefit for an artist with no health care.  This was around 1982.

I have a few, but there's only one that really has value to me. I was friends with Tommy West, and he once gave me a gold CD of two unreleased tracks that he recorded in his home studio, and he wrote on the jewel case label that the disc was for me. The tracks are freakin' brilliant. I miss Tommy. He was a great guy.

I got to thinking about it some more and I was pretty sure that Jill Sobule signed a CD from back in the days when she was opening for Warren Zevon.  We went and caught that show on a couple of occasions, and once she signed a ticket stub for me that I keep in the jewel case of a CD, and the other time I brought a CD that she signed.

"Collectible" is in the eye of the collector, @winoguy17 .  If that poster belonged to me, I would certainly consider it part of my collection and as such collectible.

I have a double-signed (doesn’t hurt to ask) CD of Wagner’s "Parsifal" autographed by the conductor, Daniel Barenboim. He had a signing event at long-gone Rose Records on Wabash Avenue in Chicago. BTW, Rose Records may have been acquired by Tower Records by then (also defunct). BTW-2: This version of Parsifal had one reviewer going ga-ga for some reason (that is, he really, really liked it)

LP signed by Koko Taylor .... from a performance at a local club/bar ...

And a Tony Bennett signature on his first box set. He was at Tower Records in NYC right after a show I attended.

Great idea for a thread, @sls883. I wish Audiogon had a way to upvote posts. I'd give all of these a thumbs up!

I have a number of signed rare books and letters but nothing signed by musicians. I'd never even thought about it until now.

@mapman: great minds think alike...gonna go with that!  Two photos of Dick Dale that my wife and I took at a 1999 concert in Eugene, OR (WOW Hall) that he signed for my wife and I after a 2002 concert that we attended in Eugene, OR (Wild Duck).  He also signed the jacket of our Surfer's Choice Dick Dale album and my wife's (then girlfriend's) 1950s vintage floral print dress.  The photos flank the stereo and the dress hangs on the wall over the stereo.  Still play the album too!

This isn’t signed, but I own the Suhr guitar shown in the video linked below. He starts playing it around 35 seconds into the video. I think Kevin Skaff got a contract with PRS, so he sold the Suhr. Sweet guitar.

I bought a John Entwistle limited print at a John Entwistle art show in San Francisco about 25 years ago that John signed for me. Also have a cardboard 3 foot by 3 foot of the cover of Genesis' 'Duke', signed by Tony, Phil, and Mike....

I have quite a few things, including lps and cds signed by Patti Smith, Jorma Kaukonen, Peter Buck (REM), Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford (Squeeze), Graham Parker, Steve Forbert, Willie Nile, Garland Jeffries, Richard Thompson, The Jayhawks, Loudon Wainwright III, John Hiatt, Southside Johnny,  Suzanne Vega, The Roches, Patricia Barber, Toshiko Akiyoshi, John and Bucky Pizzarelli, etc., all seen in concert.  I also had Richie Havens sign a print of himself at Woodstock, a poster signed by Neil Young (from when he intoduced Pono), and a teashirt signed by Bruce Springsteen (from a friend who met him at Jack's Music Shop in Red Bank, NJ.

That’s fantastic! You guys have some cool stuff!

Over the years, I’ve acquired a few artist signed things, mostly from being at their show and seeing or meeting them afterwards.
A signed CD from Mark Wood, CD signed by Amy Helm, a couple of albums signed by Beth Hart, a ticket stub signed by Elton John, a drum stick signed by John Mahon (Elton John Band) that he threw to me, Big, Beautiful Book of Bass book signed by Geddy Lee when I met him, a ticket stub signed by all 4 members of Lake Street Dive, a signed tour poster from the Tedeschi Trucks Band, a photo signed by photographer Lynn Goldsmith (Feet of The Beatles), Pete Best’s signature in a book “Beatles Gear” also signed by author and Chesterfield King member Andy Babiuk, a couple of photographs signed by photographer Baron Wolman when I met him at the site of the original Woodstock concert, and, I don’t know if this counts, but I bought an album from Tim LeFebvre (Who’s Hat is This?) that he was supposed to sign, but forgot. But, I’ve got the mailer he sent it to me in that he had wrote the address!

Lots of stuff! A photo of myself with Mason Williams, the Classical Gas man himself in his hotel room in Valley Forge. I shared a joint with him as well. I've been on his family and friends list for years. Lots of live shows.

I like Basia. My favorite LP is "The Sweetest Illusion". The album cover is great. In 1994 I asked my then brother in law (in Poland) to look for any Basia posters. My wife brought home a concert poster with the album cover as the picture. It was never printed elsewhere to my knowledge. I framed it.

A customer of mine was the manager of people like Don McLean and Janis Ian as well as other groups. I became his "go to" guy for help around his house. He had to move around 1999. He called me to help him. He had no place to go with all the open reel tapes. They've been with me ever since! I've been archiving them as I get time.

I was on an invite in 2000 to a local dive. A guy named Clay Eals was writing a biography on Steve Goodman. I asked him if anyone was sending him tapes or music. He said "yes, but I don't have a means of playing them." Well, you know what I said?  "Send them to me, I'll transfer everything to CDR". Tapes and records were coming from three different continents! When the book was completed (over 750 pages) I was on the phone with Clay. I said to him, "Wouldn't it be nice if the publisher would let you include a CD with the book?" Clay called me back the next day and said "it was a go. Could I do the CD?"  I said yes. It was a lot of work but my name is on the CD in the book wherever it is sold. (Facing the Music)

I was on the board of directors of our local coffeehouse for a couple of years. I was the archivist. Too many tapes in my collection to list. It's been a great ride!

I have a copy of Sarah McLachlan's first album,"Touch", that she gifted me in 1988 when she was just 20 years old, along with a copy of "Blue" that Joni Mitchell autographed for me. Throw in autographs from Buddy Rich, Woody Herman and Billy Cobham and that's about it, except for one more item which I can't talk about, so don't ask.

In the early 90's the band Spirit played at Music Revolution, the Tampa record store i was a part-owner of...and Jay Ferguson played my Guild D-25. Got all their signatures (not on the guitar); RIP Randy California!

Los Lobos, Indigo Girls , Bruce Cockburn (gifted him a pack of Zig-Zags), backstage Indigo Girls signed pass.

I've never really pursued that kind of memorabilia.

Oh yeah, Marky Mark (nursing a major Miami hangover) signed autographs for his fans and his bodyguards made us keep people out of the store the whole time he was signing, so dreams of big sales went up in smoke on that one...and he charged a grand for the privilege!
