What's Up With Jane's Addiction?

Perry and Dave clearly have unresolved issues.

I saw them in Jacksonville the end of August, and Perry sounded great. The mix however sucked. Instead of the sound of a bass, it was a mishmash of unintelligible low end. The same for Love and Rockets and some DJ who opened. It was distracting and annoying and diminished my enjoyment of the show.

Since this is an audio board...fact is, terrible band even in the day. That being said, I fully understand the cash grab and sorry that Perry's addiction is interfering with the nostalgia tour. Hope he gets well.

bunch of petty babies if you ask me, getting into a fight on stage because of the sound guys bad mixing. just retire already if you cant get along.

That is the 2nd tour that has been canceled on me this year, the first was The Black Keys. Getting tired of getting tickets to only be canceled later. Both times, I got early fan club access, both shows got really good tickets.

It all started when I got 3rd row center tickets to Rage Against the Machine, was so, so excited, then Zac broke his ankle, it's been downhill ever since.

@viridian Priceless, thank you for that.
my comment is just two words:  Detox & therapy.

@mswale, I've read that they are trying to reconcile and complete the tour.

Lindsey and Stevie were not in the original Fleetwood Mac.

Hopefully they get this all worked out, going to see the concert next month! Can't wait, last time was Lapaloosa in 1991. Janes was one of my favorites in high school.

Several years ago, saw Fleetwood Mac with the original crew,  You could feel the anamosity between Lindsey and Stevie. It made me feel uncomfortable. They were both fighting for the spotlight the entire show, both trying to outdo the other. Still a great show, also a very memorable experience.

It's such an odd experience to be at an age where a band that, at least to some of us, epitomized youth and energy, become the geriatric angry guys, reduced to AARP jokes...

The songs of Ritual de lo Habitual defined some of the best years of my life as a young guy in SF.

I suspect that Navarro's goatee was the root of the problem.

I used to see them in the mid 80's when they played @ a few local clubs that I could walk to - good live band.

DeKay

I saw the videos online---I'm not a huge fan of JA but like some of the other posters pointed out, the guy was def on something. You can see it in his eyes. Navarro's facial expression was like 'WTF, dude?!' Sorry the fans had to witness that especially since tickets are so expensive.

Perry had no reason to get upset over the musicians playing too loud for him to be hearing his voice. Take it up with the sound board. They are the ones controlling everyone's sound.

One only has to watch any old episode of "South Park" featuring Mr. Mackey to understand the situation..."Drugs are bad,,,m'kay?"

After seeing the Jane's Addiction show in Raleigh, NC, on September 3, 2024, it didn't take a genius to realize an implosion was coming....SOON.  Perry absolutely sucked.  It would have been 100% better if the 3 other band members had just played an instrumental show.  It got worse in New York City on September 10th and 11th -- I mean REALLY BAD.  Like a screeching banshee would have been a 100 times improvement over Perry.  I have no doubt that the irritated fans in Boston saw the last show Jane's Addiction will ever perform.  Might as well call it Perry's Still Addicted.  Good riddance.

One of my top three all time favorite bands, but the magic is gone and I don’t really care what sort of train wreck they are now.  It’s mostly Perry Farrells vocals that are a shadow of what was once one of the most iconic voices in rock, imho.  Just look like a bunch of old farts cashing in now.  Good on them but I’ve no interest seeing them live anymore.

Shouldn't he have punched the guy on the mixing board not his guitarist?

Lightweights.

On tour in the U.S.A. in ’65, Kinks drummer Mick Avory removed a cymbal from it’s stand and tossed it at Dave Davies. It barely missed his head, Dave almost being decapitated. Antics like this resulted in The Kinks being banned from performing in the U.S.A. for four years by the Musician’s Union. I saw them in 1970 and ’71, and they were fantastic.

Not being able to tour here, Ray Davies had a lot of time to write songs, and his 1966 to 1971 writing resulted in an amazing body of work (Face To Face, Something Else By, The Village Green Preservation Society, Arthur, Lola Versus The Moneygoround, and Muswell Hillbillies), imo superior to that of The Kinks peers, The Beatles and Stones.

And then there is Jerry Lee Lewis, who in 1976 "accidentally" shot his bassist in the chest with a 357. They didn't nickname him The Killer for no reason!

Since the Gallaghers from Oasis have made up, somebody needed to pick up the mantle of on-stage fisticuffs....
