«40% Of Audiophiles Are Dying And No One Is Doing Anything About It!»
@smodking1 +1 Bose is a marketing firm that makes electronics, and they have done a stellar job of making themselves a household name. They also make a competent, while mid-fi product (I have one of their bluetooth speakers in my golf bag and it ...
«40% Of Audiophiles Are Dying And No One Is Doing Anything About It!»
My kids (22 and 24) both have systems that I put together for them, and they both use them regularly. My son spins vinyl more often than my daughter, but every time I visit either they have music playing pretty much the whole time. Neither one is ...
I feel for you
I agree, everyone should continue to grow and try new things. There is joy in discovery, and wisdom is the result of knowledge through experience. It's impossible to know whether you will like golf, beets, or Captain Beefheart until you give them ...
AXPONA 2025 April 11-13 Schaumburg, IL
It's a blast, and I recommend it to anyone who loves music and audio. My method is to spend some time in the vinyl dungeon as early as I can, then go to the top floor and work my way down.  The Ultra Fidelis room (generally ARC/Vandersteen/AQ prod...
Congratulations to Gillian Welch and David Rawlings!
I recommend anything these two produce on vinyl. The newest one is the only one I haven't picked up yet (been on a classical tear lately) but I'm looking forward to spinning it. My fingers are crossed that they will release Gillian's earlier albu...
NSFW pop ups. C'mon Audiogon, get it together.
I get a lot of gross ads from Temu, from whom I've never purchased or sought out a product for purchase. It's the kind of stuff I would be embarassed to have someone see if they looked over my shoulder while I was visiting a (checks notes) audio e...
Movie/film suggestions.
@bdp24    Dr. Strangelove is my favorite film, period.

Other than Eyes Wide Shut I don't think there is a Kubrick film I don't love.
Getting a Divorce and can now buy floor standing speakers
I feel pretty lucky in having a wife who loves music as much as I do. My life wouldn't be nearly as full without music OR her in it.
Modular LP record storage suggestions
I've used Kallax storage for my 2000+ records for the last ten years, no complaints here. I have them installed against the wall, so no need for any backing board, and I've never felt like they were the least bit flimsy.
Thinking about going electrostatic
Another longtime ML stat user here. I have the Impressions (11a) and I listen to them for literally hours on end, no fatigue or anything like that. I'm driving them with a Classe amplifier which has served me well.  Having said that, you should d...

BEST SPEAKER THAT COMES TO LIFE AT LOW LISTENING LEVELS
@elliottbnewcombjr I have had a chance to plug this in and it is indeed a very cool piece of equipment - low level listening (from streaming) sounds really, really great. Most of my streaming listening is done at lower volume, I just don't use it ...
Whats playing on your system today?
The queen is listening to Jennifer Warnes' Famous Blue Raincoat as I write this. From a Node - she knows how to use the turntable but doesn't share my love of the ritual.  Sounds pretty dang good.
Linn LP12 turntable
@tomic601 +1 One of the most genuinely kind, decent people I've ever met, in or out of the audio community.
