What is your favorite album cover?

I extremely love Rhythm Nation 1814 by Janet Jackson. Eschewing a friendly, fun image more conducive to '80s pop chart success, Janet Jackson adopted a militaristic tone for her instantly iconic black-and-white Rhythm Nation 1814 cover art.....That's why I like not only her song but also her soul in music. What about you? What is your favorite album cover?

I'll probably think of others later, but when I saw this post the first thing that popped in my head was "Get Your Ya Ya's Out." I love Charlie on that front cover.
What's Going On..by Marving Gaye

..and just about any cover shot by Pete Turner for A&M Records, CTI Records, Verve and Impulse!.
- It’s a Beautiful Day - It’s a Beautiful Day
- Crown of Creation - Jefferson Airplane
- Happy Trails - Quicksilver Messenger Service
- The Lost Star Grassmen and the Ravens -Sandy Denny
- Appalachian Spring - Aaron Copland - RCA
- Music in Similar Motion - Phillip Glass
The flip side of The Faces 'A Nod Is As Good As A Wink To A Blind Horse' and the front side isn't bad either.
AEwarren beat me to it,  but Electric Ladyland with all the topless girls in the early release (I have one from back in the day) and Cheap Thrills with all R. Crumb artwork do it for me!!
Dark Side of the Moon came out when I was in college, and I didn't think that the cover was very original or interesting even then.
For an album cover that is a spot-on visual representation of the music contained in the LP or CD, nothing beats The Band's s/t "brown" album.

Before that, I always liked the cover of The Beatles' Rubber Soul. Have you noticed their name is nowhere to be seen on that cover? First time in the history of LP's.
Moms Apple Pie. (Not the censored one even though, if you've seen the orignal, it's interesting what they did for the censors.)
DSOTM

Painted it (including heartbeat) running around my dorm room as a college freshman. It remained for several years.
I second the original Stones Sticky Fingers, but would add the cover issued in Spain under the Franco regime just for the humor of it.

Led Zeppelin I (brand new re-mastered 180g) and then ZZ Top's DeGuello (pristine 1st pressing)
Triumph - Just a Game (the board game inside was entertaining)
Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast (check out the figs along the bottom; front and back)
Way too many to list, but Maynard Ferguson's four impressionist covers of the 1960's were beaytiful.  Another interesting cover is Frank Zappa's Overnight Sensation, with its totally trashed hotel room, and a grapefruit on the floor with a hole in it, above which is penned "Roadie's Delight", whatever that might mean.
@richopp Thanks for the history lesson. I was 11 when that album came out so not that young. I still have it on regular rotation. I never realized that the album cover was so iconic. I just loved that photo, it reminded me of some Pete Townsend photos of him playing live.
Yes - Relayer
Jimmy Smith - Back at the Chicken Shack
Linda Ronstadt - Livin' in the USA

In order of preference:
1)  "Trout Mask Replica" by Captain Beefheart.

2)  The original 3-D of "Satanic Majesty's Request" by The Rolling Stones.

3) "It's a Beautiful Day" (first album)

4) "Electric Ladyland" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience (original British pressing and cover, not released in the US per my recollection)

5) "Blind Faith" (original album cover)

6) Most of the Reid Miles "Blue Note" covers.
There are plenty to choose from but the first one the comes up is Queen, "The Miracle."
Amazing computer technology at the time.
It's a Beautiful Day   (the version with the girl) is definitely the most iconic cover
Elton John "Goodbye Yellow Brick road".                                                         Tijuana Brass album with the girl in the whipped cream. Just..........WOW at 10 years old.
Jimi Hendrix- Electric Ladyland
Cream- Disraeli Gears
Santana- (first, Lion/African Lady)
Led Zeppelin III  / Pink Floyd The Wall

I am still fascinated with both of these.
Sargent Pepper.....It shows how the Beatles shared their relevance among the historical pop Icons. They are officially a significant part of history.
tunehead, I know it's gotta be the back of 2112 .

"That picture of Alex Lifeson can still be found on Cameltoe.org"
