CD's or Vinyl?
- vinyl by a long shot - few pops and crackles for me, even those 60 years old     - I take care of my LPs    - I have quality vinyl playback equipment  - yes, it sounds more alive than digital  - I wrote previously about vinyl as a sacred ri...
Is it possible to really know what you're doing?
Follow your ears.
CD's or Vinyl?
@saugertiesbob  has a lot of time on his hands. Let me assure you, Saugertiesbob, that there is no limit to any profuse amount of words that you may offer upon the universe that will dissuade me from my masochistic attachment to my 6,000+ LP colle...
Attention Horn Owners
@toddalin  Best they have ever heard? They haven’t heard mine, 😂! Then again, I’d never make such a claim about a particular component, only about a system.  Each component functions within the context of the system within which it resides. Wea...
Cable Break In for the Naysayers
@ozzy  To avoid being perceived as being “irritably over-the-top” in my decidedly dim view of this entire discussion.  Over the years, especially when suffering from severe cases of have FOMO, I tried well over a dozen high end interconnects cos...
Footers under new speakers
@trecool99    duh. I wouldn’t be doing it if it didn’t work. 🙄 While it does help that the wall is made of brick, it works with 2x4 studs as well.  I used to live in a 2,000 sq ft loft. We threw dance parties twice a year. Up to 120 people jum...
Footers under new speakers
@buellrider97  I have the turntable sitting on a cabinet that is bolted to the wall. So, no floor vibes   The table plinth or chassis or whatever-you-call-it sits on some sort of gelled pucks that sit on the base.
Footers under new speakers
I use    https://www.crutchfield.com/shopsearch/isolation_feet.html   on a hardwood floor. Under both the main towers as well as the sub.
I changed a Tube and…
I bought a pair of NOS 1957 ECC83 long plate Bugle Boy for my Pro-ject DS2 Tube Box. They cost more than the DS2.    They were worth it. A dramatic difference.
Vinyl Warm Up Time
My phono warm up time is about 10-20 minutes.    when I walk away for a period of time, the Pro-ject DS 2 Tube Box goes into idle, it takes 5 minutes to warm up again.    See about page: https://theaudioatticvinylsundays.com
Phono pre amp
I have the Pro-ject Tube Box DS2. I put a pair of NOS 1957 Bugle Boy ECC83 long plate tubes from the Haarlen factory in it.  It sounds superb.    See the about page: https://theaudioatticvinylsundays.com
MacArthur Park
Richard Harris is the only version, imho.  Webb wrote one helluva song. I thought it was schmaltz back in the day.
Attention Horn Owners
I have been using Altec Lansing 604Cs for 45 years.  When they get honky, it means something is not set up right, or something is failing.  As my entire system has been refurbished (except for the tonearm) from top to bottom within the last two ...
Vinyl that is impossible to find
$150 seems like a decent price for NM.   Or just wait for a reissue. The in demand discs all seem to get reissued these days.
Your first concert was to see who and when?
1969.  Johnny Winter.  My high school auditorium.  Right after the release of his eponymously titled first LP on Columbia.  I was 15 years old.
