Have been on a back-and-forth email with InnuOs About this issue. It definitely appears that there is a few bugs in the connect. Figure the more of us that let them know about this issue the faster they will get to work on the bugs.
Qobuz Connect
I was enthusiastic about Qobuz connect when it became available. I have been using Qobuz with Roon and liked it, but Qobuz connect would offer a simpler, more direct connection.
However, I find that Qobuz connect intermittently will stop in a tract mid-stream, provide a notice that it cannot connect to that tract and move on to the next one. I have had this problem with several different high end streamer/dac/preamp setups on several different networks, including in a high end dealer store. The experts there, who are top notch, think that it it is perhaps that Qobuz connect is new and they have not worked out the bugs yet. There have been several updates, but the problem persists.
Anybody else have this problem? Has Qobuz commented on it?
Thanks everybody!
Perhaps unrelated to your Qobuz Connect problem, but I occasionally get a similar stop of play with Qobuz through Roon on my Eversolo A6. But if I play Qobuz directly there is no issue. That makes me wonder if it’s a processor issue with my Nucleus One. But a simple stream on a strong wifi connection, with no DSP, shouldn’t be a heavy lift. |
I’ve also seen this on QC but I’ve seen it in Roon also. I do think QC sounds better than going through Roon and I don’t know why it would. But the thing that bugs me the most about QC is that the playback progress bar is way out of sync with the music. I’m willing to put up with it because it sounds great. |
In response to boxcarman's question, I noticed his particular problem with QC and Aurender in the showroom of a high end dealer using their very best equipment. The problem overall in intermittent, but serious enough to interfere with the listening experience. At home, I have a Simaudio 891. So, the newest technology. Qobuz works perfectly with Roon, but the problem persists with Qobuz connect. It the problem of not being able to play tracks may depend on the streamer/dac. If so, Qobuz needs to identify the problem, fix it, and do a better job of certifying companies and their products and working with Qobuz connect.

I posted recently about a similar problem with QC. I use an Innuos Pulse with a Bryston BDA3. The BDA-3 uses mechanical relays to switch resolution to preserve SQ but there is an inherent delay. With Sense, there is a setting to adjust for that, but with QC, that setting is bypassed. As a result, the beginning of songs gets cut off or stutters. I've worked with both Innuos and Bryston support about this. Innuos determined that QC bypasses the Pulse internal player and doesn't allow the built in settings to work. Bryston acknowledged the issue and is working on a fix. It seems that QC is more compatible with some setups than others. I've stopped using it. Hopefully future firmware updates will address the issues.

I had an issue early on that I could only play Hi-Res songs on Qobuz Connect. It would see the non-Hi-Res song on the playlist and skip over it. I went back to using the Sense app with my Innuos Zen MK3 streamer. Then it would sometimes cutoff the 1st note of a song. I no longer have any issues fortunately using Qobuz Connect through my Innuos to my Holo Audio Cyan 2 DAC. Assume they upgraded the software and it caught up with my updates. |
All I can say is, don't expect Qobuz to give a rat's ass about any problem that you are having. Their company model seems to be f*** customer support. Just ignore any requests. You are better off speaking with the robot. Once it turns you over the the support team, You may as well piss into the wind. The request is ignored. Emails to support are ignored. They simply don't care about their customers in the least. I have been a huge fan of Qobuz. And have talked many people into going with them. But after experiencing their absolute disregard for me as a customer. I am not sure that I want to be one any longer. Absolute disrespect is what I have been shown. And that is where I will draw the line. If you don't believe me just Google "How do I contact Qobuz when the standard methods are ignored?". Oh how I wish that they would read this. "In my opinion, Qobuz, you have managed to go from the best thing since sliced bread to utter scum of the earth in your absolute disregard and utter disrespect that you have shown ffor your customers". You have chosen this business model. I hope that you are proud of yourselves Because it won't take much to bring you to your knees." So enjoy it while it lasts," |
Yes, on Innuos Pulsar as Roon endpoint. After ~two days of heavy play it starts halting during a song and Roon skips to next song. It happens every couple of songs. If I reboot the Pulsar it goes back to normal play. I’ve gone to doing a preemptive reboot on Fridays (my listening is mostly weekends). |
Mostly for kavakat1, but for anybody else who is a bit confused, The Qobuz app originally connected to streamers by airplay, but it is not a good solution. I do use the Qobuz app with Carplay, and it is ok. This spring, Qobuz came out with Qobuz Connect. Qobuz Connect uses Wifi and connects directly to streamers. It uses an updated version of the same app, and as pointed out on this thread, there have been more updates. The problem is that it intermittently will not play a track or stop in the middle of a tract, but this seems to be dependent on the streamer. Hopefully, Qobuz will fix it for everybody soon. Qobuz Connect also allows you to connect to streamers outside you network. Roon Arc (as oppposed to regular Roon) is supposed to do this, but I have not been able to make it work consistently and gave up on it Qobuz also works with Roon, generally with no difficulty. Roon also has a better interface than Qobuz, but probably also a somewhat worse sound. Roon allows use of multiple streaming services as well as radio and you own digital music collection. However, Roon is also an added expense and near zero support. Roon also requires a hub or nucleus. I run it on a NAS server for free, but if you do not have a NAS, then you will probably have to buy a Roon product. The Roon Nucleus Titan costs $4000. In any case there is a monthly service charge for Roon. If you decide to go with Roon, make sure your streamer is Roon Ready. Overall, I think Qobuz is an excellent product with the best curation and search for classical music. Probably the best sound, but at least as good as any. I hope Qobuz is following this thread and will fix the problem. |
@vicdior agree with you there is some magic going on with those 2 French companies.. Audirvana and Qobuz. Same with Atoll and Audirvana. |
I just abandoned my Ifi zen stream as an Roon endpoint and bought a WiiM ultra. Been playing around with Qobuz connect, Roon and the WiiM software interface. Roons software is by far the best, but the Qobuz connect sounds identical to me. The WiiM was simple to set up and completely reliable, I’m very impressed. We’re living in a small apartment while we search for our retirement landing spot, so I’m using a Rega Brio, Denafrips Ares and the WiiM feeding a pair of QLN stand mounts. Sounds cracking good for the $. |
