It happened again tonight
Playing Pink Floyd The Wall Side 4, nice and loud. Kind of loud live would be if they would keep it just short of harmful. Kind of loud you feel it. Run Like Hell comes and the lead guitar riffs are just exhilarating and have me going and then the beat picks up and I catch myself hyperventilating again. Its just so crazy clear and present and you are there, all I can say is Thank you, Krissy. From the bottom of my heart. Thank you so very much.

'Toccata and Fugue in D minor', from, 'The Fox Touch', does that to me, when played at realistic (in the Crystal Cathedral) levels. The guitar in, 'Money' (MFSL/DSOTM), raises the hair on the back my neck (never mind, the rest of me). That's with a Soundsmith cart (high compliance, on a Magnepan arm). |
Strunz & Farah "Primal Magic". Twice last night, the whole album, then Led Zeppelin, Houses of the Holy. Memory or two...with that one.. Great album. Pure bliss. Flamingist, something about that type of music, Al Di Meola, Strunz & Farah. I've heard Carlos with both live.. Incredible.. Pink Floyd.. One of a few concert where I never saw much action on stage, but heard the music, and admired the crazy stuff flying around the joint. Same with, ELO, Emerson Lake & Palmer and Tangerine Dreams. Can't imagine what that little blotters of paper had on um'.. OH YEA Technicolor....BABY... That was a while back... Regards |
So the implication here is that the only reason @millercarbon had an exhilarating musical experience, nearly sending him into hyperventilation and perhaps on the verge of anaphylaxis was due SOLELY to the products provided by Krissy. Nothing else in the system? "Everything matters" is no longer the case in an an audio system - this intense feeling can only be brought on by a tweak or series of tweaks. That is clearly what is implied here. If in fact everything does matter in audio (which I would agree with completely - including tweaks) then it was completely arbitrary to attribute this over the top joy to any single vendor or component. |
^^^ Well, allow me to interject a little more joy here. I had a tube of PPT Total Contact left and was wondering what to do with it. So, I spent the morning taking my little Audioengine A2+ speakers apart and pasting the entire interior. Anything I could reach got pasted. The result? I have total confidence that I now have the best sounding Audioengine A2+ speakers on the entire planet. Here’s the kicker ... all of us who have used this now-discontinued product knows that there is a definite break-in period over an eight-week period. If the initial results are this good, what will it be like when the eight-week jump takes place? Two little desk-top speakers, a PC, and Spotify can sound like THIS??? Wow ... just wow! Frank |
@three_easy_payments Correction, Millercarbon did not say he had an exhilarating moment, he had a "hyperventilating" moment. I think what he needs to know is that most of us here, but not all, are men. What possibly would make him think we personally give a sh*t if he is hyperventilating? Maybe things are different in the Northeast? |

Here I was thinking that being on an audiophile oriented site people might be familiar with The Wall and know Run Like Hell features a guy actually running and you hear his breathing and maybe even might get that your music could be so good you could get so caught up in it you catch yourself breathing along with guy in the song. But no. Not here. Don't know audio. Don't know music. Don't know nothing just love to knock em all. Oh well. They have no idea, do they, Frank? No idea at all. |
Yes! My 1979 1A(1st press variant? whatever that is)Pittman copy has been played on a few serious setups. $50K+ super rigs. Really a workout, besides great music. On my setup ($5K?),I can hear most of what can be squeezed out from this great album. Good sounding album for a late 70's disc. At minimum, anything close to a "proper" system has to handle the bass/percussion convincingly. This album is unquestionably a demo record. Great album. |
Miller ... After your Pink Floyd post, I accessed "The Wall" via Spotify and listened to it through my newly PPT Total Contact pasted Audioengine A2+ speakers. Having a compromised respiratory system, I almost passed out listening to "Run Like Hell." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ roxy54 ... I appreciate @millercarbon opening up about a very transcendental experience. We have all had those moments listening. I get that feeling listening to Camel's Lunar Sea every time. I don't know why but the rhythm just takes me someplace else. Just takes me away. However, I don't think anyone has put out a run like Pink Floyd did. DSOTM to Wish You Were Here to Animals to The Wall to The Final Cut (probably the most under appreciated LP in the group). Pink Floyd was Steeley Dan before Steeley Dan was Steeley Dan. The musical production was just stellar. This doesn't even include some of their most artistic works like Echoes, Atom Heart Mother Suite, and The Journey. Anyways, I keep listening, experiencing some of those same emotions that I felt when I was younger but did not understand. I now get it and is so much more appreciated |
I have 14 Pink Floyd albums (CDs) (Three versions of DSoTM) ‘The Wall’ has never been high on my list. My top two are Meddle and Animals followed by Wish You Were Here. I just received The Wall -1994 Harvest Remaster by Doug Sax. It has much more bass than I’ve ever heard from any other reissue. Tonight I heard The Wall more amazing than I ever have in my 46 years. I’m extremely happy with the details, staging, nuances and the heavy bass. Luckily I have never over played The Wall, but I surely look forward to playing it often. |
I've learned to appreciate good opera. Every time I listen to DSOTM or The Wall, it is like listening to great rock opera. I'm not much of a psychedelic rock fan, much preferring good jazz, but the Pink Floyd band really gets to me. Their music has such emotional depth, and as stated before, David Gilmore is an incredible guitarist. Frank |
oregonpapa -wait till you try tidal....not even mqa just cd quality. it’s free for the first month .what can you loose besides compression and harshness? another way is playing cd quality or better files from a pc using audirvana. compare any of those to spotify. |
Geezuz. When I read what millercarbon shared - I could esily understood what he was saying, to imagine the moment. It helps when you are familiar with the music. I am. I know I don't have the system he has, but mine isn't too bad. I can imagine it and will try to replicate it. No need to knock an aesthetic moment. Who does that? |

@rodman99999 I got married in a cathederal with the real deal pipe organ and organist. He was thrilled when I requested Bach's 'Toccata and Fugue in D minor' as the music in the middle of the ceremony. Well, he kicked our a$$es with that performance "pulling out all the stops" as it were. I've been building a stereo for 50 years to recreate that tune. And happily I'm there. Music is emotion. |
Yes, that Krissy @bigwave....the person who has now sent me an offline message providing a number to call to get access to her products. She wrote the following: "Do you already have some of my new product line? I've got 3 new designs... and no real way to sell or mention it." The circus is in town and taking orders. Quite a racket and teed up using over the top threads like this to garner attention. Did millercarbon thank the speaker or amp manufacturer "from the bottom of his heart" for the out of body experience he had? Of course not, he thanked someone promoting a tweak who later descends upon the scene to make a buck. This place is out of control folks. |
I think I’ve read in past posts that Krissy was the person selling the paste that it used on electrical connections? Anyways, love me some Pink Floyd. Saw them in the early 90’’s, the old Foxboro stadium, Massachusetts. I was 19. I’ve seen 100+ concerts, that one is / was the best. Love the solo david Gilmour stuff, “live at Gdans’k” comes to mind, great version of shine on you crazy diamond. Great experience when you’re moved by music like millercarbon described, I have a moment every now and then. The same songs seem to trigger them. |

After 20 years on this site I have just realized after this thread that I am an "unemotional" person compared to a lot of the people here, as are my friends. Maybe the fact that I enjoy hunting out of a deer camp with like minded people has something to do with it, I don’t know or care. I’ve been very successful taking animals. But I would like you to know of my experience with Krissy. All I did was send a short PM expressing I was sorry to hear about the passing of her significant other. I had never emailed or had any contact with her before and have never spoken to her ever. She asked me if I have ever used a PPT product and I said I had not (didn’t believe the hype). For no reason but to be nice without me asking or expecting she sent me six Emats and three or four of the Ecards. She would accept no payment when I saw what she had done. No one else other than a relative has just flat out given me about $4,000 worth of something. I have never mentioned this to anyone or promoted a PPT product. In my way of looking at things she is really a good person. |

For enjoying music, the sound of music played on my system, which I thought was the whole point of being an audiophile in the first place, for that one simple thing these guys can do nothing but trash talk. They are not audiophiles. They are the furthest thing from audiophiles. Oh, they love something all right. But it sure isn’t audio. |
