Blantons in a Glencairn for me.

I can get with Lagavulin on special occasions! However a more typical tasty beverage is Makers Mark neat. |
Tempranillo on any given night, P Grigio on a warm afternoon. |
A great Burgundy, say a 2006 Volnay, full bodied yet nice and dry, not as forward as others but oh so satisfying, the velvet coating of the tongue, a beautiful hint of sweetness and such a beautiful finish.
The music takes on a more personal perspective without the dulling of the senses that others commit. It simply heightens the illusion that you and the music are one, or are getting there. There's almost an amusing quality to it. YMMV but mine never does with this.
All the best, Nonoise |
Water.
Always good to keep hydrated for optimal performance. :^) |
For the summer with rock music I prefer a martini. Plymouth gin, Dolan vermouth, orange bitters, and a lemon twist. For classical music it is generally red wine, which is currently the 2007 Cade cabernet of Howell Mountain. |
|
A girly vodka drink straight up. |
A fine sipping Bourbon served neat. Lights down low of course. Blanton's or Booker's goes well with the warm glow of the Pass Labs meter light on a cold winter night. |
|
My recent favorite is, Remy Martin 1738 Accord Royal. Very good stuff! |
The drink of champions ... water on the rocks. |
I'll take a Johnny Walker Black on the rocks, with a Grolsch chaser. |
no eating or drinking for me while listening...too noisy |
|
just saw this online: http://www.businessinsider.com/best-beers-and-breweries-in-america-2015-6 pretty credible results as far as i'm concerned--bells, founders, lagunitas all place very well. pliny the elder is still the top-rated and i still haven't tried it.... |
Gslone: how does the 1738 compare with other cognacs at that price point? The best I've found to date is Pierre Fernand Reserve ($55 - $65). The Delamain Pale and Dry is the next step up but trying to find it for less than $100 is challenging and too $ for even moderate consumption. |
Grand Marnier, on the rocks, stir until chilled. |
A well-cellared bottle of Domaine Georges Roumier Chambolle Musigny, Les Amoureuses. A glimpse of Heaven in a Burgundy stem... |
Thanks for the tip for Remy Martin 1738. My favorite is the Prince D'Arignac Napoleon Xo Armagnac |
|
Bourbon and 7-UP, on the rocks! CHEERS! |
Organic Green Tea , Brahms approved . |
French Brandy in a pre-warmed snifter. Gives me an overall sense of luxurious contentment. I don't overindulge as I'm so often taken away by the music there is some leftover(which never fails to surprise me!) Cheers... |
Hot orange juice is also good, on it's own or with Brandy. |
Coffee, with milk. Sumatra, Kenya AA, Costa Rica, Guadamala, whatever. |
Once in a while a scotch like Glenlivit 21 or Glemorangie 18. Usually spring water with a splash of pommagranite juice. |
I was listening to some Bill Charlap (jazz pianist) yesterday afternoon. Went really nicely with Port. Dylan, later in evening, with an IPA.
|
Drambuie (neat), or Grey Goose & Tonic, or Grey Goose & fresh squeezed OJ. |
I never eat while listening, I can't get the sound normally. Someone sad here that he drinks cannabis tea, I just wonder is it legal and where can I get some? Never tried one and would like to drink it. |
|
Water; I don’t drink alcohol. On the weekends, of course coffee if I listen early enough. |
For the sake of keeping a 16 year old thread going... I don't always drink when I listen, but when I do, I prefer coffee |
|
|
Tap water. Only option left after this hobby turns ones pockets inside out. |
Elijah Craig on ice, hard to beat‼️
|
|
I don't drink(dry 12 years now)but I still enjoy a hit or 2 when listening! |
Depends on the music, but 2 puffs works on most
|
Ice coffee. LavAzza Super Crema espresso is good.
|
MD/20/20 jump on it NOW!!! |
MD 20 20? Only if your out of Orange Rock
|
Summit Extra Pale Ale. On my 3rd now and rig is kickin’ a$$!
|
Pernicious IPA
Or a midwest favorite -- a beer martini. Basically a domestic poured in a glass, and then add three run of the mill green olives. |
BAROLO and MD 20/20 ROCKS!! |
I don't think my drinking preferences could be changed by what I listen to in any way, nor the other way around actually...
It's been quite hot lately so often just a glass of water :D
|
Easy: Talisker 12 (from the '80's), Talisker 25 (current) or Hine Triomphe -- my three laid-back after-dinner beverages of choice. |
Beer ,Harps. Wine ,Kendall-Jackson ,Pinot Noir. and my favorite White Russian ,2 shots coffee liquor, 2 shots Vodka, I've splash of milk... |
