Speakers sounding dull? MUST READ! The truth about speaker design!

Do your speakers sound dull and lifeless?  Well that's because speakers are not made from real musicians, or even real musical instruments.  Well I alone have a solution for this...

McCarthy speakers (for use in the house) have crossover issues but if you can find O’Neill ones they sound better. Both work better in smaller back rooms and their connections really matter.

I’m curious to hear the actual solution that was the initial intent of this discussion.

Honestly thought we could all infer that the solution would be to have your speakers made out of real musicians. 🤣

Guys, the part that should have been a clue I was making a parody of the cult- leader mindset was a variation on the cult-leader’s "only I can fix it..." theme at the end.

Anytime you hear "we alone" or worse, "I alone can solve your issues" hold on to your wallet and your children cause they want to take them all away from you.

Very clever although I am disappointed there was no tweak du jour to solve the worlds home audio concerns.

 I will reflect back on this post the next time I have a battle of the bands in my garage.

@dill

erik, is it that you have to have an infinite baffle built into your home?

Everything in my home is infinite, especially the baffles and beer.

"Everything in my home is infinite, especially the baffles and beer."

@dill

Ty, I did see them, my previous comment was for everyone else asking why I don't actually have a solution. :)

@erik_squires . I thought the thread was quite witty, unfortunately for me, I understood where you were coming from.

........what is the purpose of this thread ? They are always responded to by the same people and always started by the same people. They always  go sideways with no end in sight and accomplish nothing. Yet here I am......

Nonoise ...... The Freak Brothers ...... " Keep On Truckin '' ..........

I can fix th*oops*

Expert: An unknown drip under the pressure.

...meanwhile..

...busyness as unusual... *s*

That's an interesting concept, tho'.... speakers made with musicians, instead of 'by' to 'buy'......

...a bitch to diy, but....

...take care with that TestyTiming.....😟

If f'd up, the back wheels only allow a 'pivot setting' .....both will only turn clockwise.

Whereas the front wheels will steer to lock on L and Stay there.

And for the coup de grâce, the Testy Tesla will begin to accelerate, briskly, all the way to floored.....

It takes awhile, but eventually the batteries will discharge.

Hopefully before the tires wear out to the rims...

Have fun, J

...yeah, Tesla makes a helluva 'block heater'....

Applied just right on the battery pack...acts like nitromethane....😈

Too hot? 🤬👿☠😇 :(

"...last I saw of that car it disappeared like punched for warp X to the fourth....

Y'know what that does...."

Very Interesting concept J. Hmm ... now you have me thinking.

Perhaps this "Tesla nitromethane block heater" were modified for human use / consumption. And if so, strapped around the thighs of lets say "Usain Bolt." By any chance would it be considered fair play, foul play, or performance enhancement ... equalling immediate disqualification?

:-)

@asvjerry,

Thought I’d share this bit of history I recently stumbled across since you also have a love affair for “old school” top-of-line machinery for its time, likely dating back mid 50’s.

The client (bloodline Biro) I’ve been remodeling their Barn for, location I’ll keep concealed, has these three individual pallets sitting inside which consist of … Bridgeport Series 1 (Milling Machine), Hardinge Brothers Super Precision (Metal Lathe) and DoAll Contour Machine (Metal Cutting Bandsaw). Them beauty’s which are still in immaculate condition belonged to Laszlo Biro, inventor of the modern ball-point pen. The three Machinist Machines are all of what’s left of a much more complete Shop, everything else donated

Needless to say, my number had been left with the family in hopes of entertaining a certain someone …. Boy, I would love to get my hands on them!

:-)

"Well that's because speakers are not made from real musicians"

I am pretty sure that woud be a capital offense in all 50 states.

AWW shucks! I wish I could have read this without all the deleted replies.

What sounds perfect to one is not perfect to all! Everyone hears different. How many times does this need to be said!!

@2channel8 ....assuming the source of *ah* ’materials’ would be ’local’.... ;/>

...there’s a ’not-so-healthy trade’ in body parts, most if not all from ’elsewhere’....

Betcha’ there’s a lot of raw materials available for the ’recycling’ in and about the Ukraine of late....maybe not musicians, but ... 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️😏

...yeah, very sick...and not in the current vernacular of 'sick'...

@dabel ...the old machines have their points, but replacement parts?

Ehh, not so much...;)

It was rumoured that the only reason aliens visit is to procure ball-point pens, but that's another story for another daze....

I do have a hanker for an old big-az bandsaw....but Not for making speakers from previously mentioned materials....the urge to run Soylent Green into the market in the latent future would be .... well, I'll digress.... 😏

@asvjerry

the old machines have their points

Ouch, I felt that!!!

but replacement parts?

Troublesome yes, but if there's a will, there's a way.

;-)

Am I the only one who remembers this?  It's kind of hilarious how even with a dozen laugh emotes people still take this thread seriously.

Wednesday Adams - Are your cookies made with real girl scouts?

...hey, now....Wednesday is a lovely girl who just has....Distinct means and memes.... 😏 ...that can attract but puts one into not making quick moves while playing a flute to distract.

'Meaningful'.....😎  I thought it was time to have a good one.....

...to start the weakened early....new moon, all that....*sigh*

Pardon self and us....😔

Timlub, as long as there are imperfect ears, there will never be a perfect speaker design. The perfect speaker is in the ear of the beholder.

@pcrhkr    Not sure how I got picked for that comment, I have to assume that it was from my list of kenjit quotes.    But either way, I can completely understand your comment. However, although a perfect speaker may not exist, a near perfect speaker certainly could be created, yet not liked by many people for many reasons.  A specific frequency curve may be preferred by someone,  but in reality a speakers job is to accurately reproduce the original source.  Perfect phasing, perfect time alignment and perfectly flat response is the only way to achieve that... Then, besides personal taste, you have the issue of rooms to deal with.  My speakers that I use at home are built to be flat in My Room at My Listening position.

  but in reality a speakers job is to accurately reproduce the original source

@timlub  - I disagree.  To me these are not lab instruments anymore than a car is. I buy, build and critique speakers based on whether they satisfy me.  I expect others to do the same.  The jury is very much still out on what an ideal speaker is and how it behaves in a home.  It's also been quite trendy and varies from region to region and over time.  The ideal monitor of a studio in the 1980's is surely different today.

I knew Kenjit had to be in there somewhere when I saw this highlight in the weekly recap....

@erik_squires    thats fine with me if you don't want a speaker accurately reproduce music.

To each his own

How do you even know that the sound of a speaker is actually accurate, I don't think any speaker made is truly accurate, especially when you add a room into the equation.
