When I listen to my system.......
The S2100 is a beautiful work of art as an integrated. There was no where in my area to demo one. I am very happy with what I ended up with. But the impressive build quality of the Yamaha is top notch. Not upper crust appeal because audiophiles ...
???What's The LEAST Expensive "End Game"Amplifier You've Ever Heard???
On this forum budget is my max. So the best bang for the sound, money for me was the Primaluna. I compared it to an integrated 3X the cost.  I liked the accuracy with instrumental music. Crisp reed vibration from strings, could here the majesty o...
Open baffle speakers
Back in the old days past, most manufactures of console stereos had open back cabinets. Some of these sounded really great and had no lack of bass. In experimenting while building DYI speakers I found a properly damped cabinet with not fully open...
When I listen to my system.......
Its all between the ears!  There is as much difference in people's hearing as there are personalities. What matters is what you like. Like the saying goes, one mans junk, is another man's treasure. One mans dream, is another man's nightmare. One m...
I Sold my CD Player!!! Streaming sounds so incredible!!!
I like having a CD library. Streaming does sound great and gives almost unlimited music choices. . But having it on a hard drive uncompressed is really nice for critcal listening. What I like best about streaming services is you can take it anywhe...
Quick question for the Cables Don't Make a Difference Crowd.
Wi Fi has a limited bandwidth. For instance with WiFi 6 I get about 365Mbs. With a gigabit wired connection you normally get close to 1Gbs on most networks today. I have heard you can get high definition audio with 100kbs, but I reserve my opinion...
Recommend me a tube integrated amplifier
https://www.primaluna.nl/ I love mine. Stout power supply, great amp protection.
Amp showing its age?
My guess would be one or all. Power switches build up carbon from arching and become resistive after decades.  Electrolytic power supply capacitors, final stage driver transistors,  new output transistors.
Heavy difficult to move speakers- how do you deal?
I have a pair of Paragon Acoustics Regents. I am not sure how much they weigh. I have heard 150lbs, to 185lbs. These are lead lined and very heavy. I move mine with a cloth covering them with a furniture dolly for more than 10ft. I use furniture s...
DCS Sending Legal Notice To Reviewer (Golden Sound) Over an Old Review of Their Bartok DAC
I like the 5 star rating system from people that own products. Everyone can throw in their 2 cents comment. Professional reviews, not needed. Reviews are opinions no matter from a reviewer, or owner. That would work for me if I was looking for a r...
A Sanely Priced Power Conditioner That Actually Works - OnFilter PDU
I am 100% happy with a Furman power strip in front, then a Tripplite power conditioner. You need to watch your peak watts input needed with the conditioner. It was easy for me with a 30wpc Primaluna. The 1800w power conditioner indicates compensat...
Do your ears deceive you?
My opinion, from my experience, everything in the signal path from the preamp connectors to the speaker wire make a significant difference. From my experience the 100% oxygen-free copper connectors give better overall bandwidth in sound. Most nota...
Primaluna EVO 400 Amps/Preamp lacking bass impact
I have never been disappointed in my smaller EVO 100 integrated for sustained bass like organ,Tuba, or the punch of a large drum. What I have noticed is a significant increase in lower bass notes, and attack with JJKT77 outputs. I do not need a s...
Worst Speakers Ever??
The worst speakers I ever owned were Utah 10" 3 way speakers. They sounded nice, but With with my pioneer 424 12 wpc, they buzzed intermittently driving me nuts!. It sounded like the voice coil lead wires were touching the cone. I went through 4 p...
Worst Speakers Ever??
I owned a pair of Ultralinar 100s back in the day. They were the best $99 / Pair speakers you could buy. They sounded great on rock and roll, BTO kicked nice. Compared side by side at the stereo store, you had to pay $500 / pair to beat them. Not ...
