Speakers sounding dull? MUST READ! The truth about speaker design!

Do your speakers sound dull and lifeless?  Well that's because speakers are not made from real musicians, or even real musical instruments.  Well I alone have a solution for this...

The link you’ve so graciously provided for all to see & listen, my thought / opinion of Fish was God Almighty “Spectacular.” Literally must have played the video “Sucker Born” five consecutive times before moving along. As a matter of fact Samantha found my playlist yesterday.

So Eve happened to be reluctant at first. Fabulous to hear she had a change of heart and enjoyed the evening.

Serves it right? Hmm, coming from the likes of you whom continues incoming posts traveling a whopping 120db c-weighted. Ugh … 120mph.

:-)

*L*  In line with time, wander over to the R/R website....enter the Ultimate Asheville Weekend Getaway for the end o' May and you might get into some of our local focal locus loud... ;)

Only cost the $s' of a used pre to propel self to same 'n back ah-gain... or not...

...I forget wherewithal you post from....

...that infinitive near future just ain't what it used to be...😬*L*

...serves it right, too.....keeps going, going, eveready rabbit run....but I simply surmise at this for the time....😏

@asvjerry,

I’m really trying my darndest / utmost best searching for time (any time, any at all) in response to your exquisite post above. I’ll send / sling shot ya when the time is, more convenient. But I’ll leave you with this for the time being, we do need to meet up one day in the infinite near future. Of course … that’s if you’re down for some Rock & Roll with a lot of Soul.

:-)

Rabbit Rabbit

Reading you loud 'n proud, @dabel ....👍

Caught up the Fish recently here in AVL, played The Salvage Station, a nice spread on the edge of the Broad 10 min. from our doors...2 tix for 52 made for a great evening.. ;)

Ev was unsure 'bout it going in, but sold on the deal and loved the gig....liked the opening act, liked the venue...helluva deal. *L*

We've got a new venue opening in town....Rabbit Rabbit, a venture linked to the Orange Peel which had been here forever.  A club that has more audience than the place can handle for the bigger acts that come to town, and seems to be committed to keeping the entry $ low(er), so more can enjoy....

Hot fun in the summertime....can't wait. 😁

Gotta ❤ this town....

...on a related note...

Your brain is/isn’t the boss you think it is... ;)

...remember this when cueing up and it skips up and away....

....and someone we're holding a wake for shows back up with a different name....

....and 'tude.... ;)

@dabel ....I left CA far too early to get 'gifted' in that fashion....and certainly not by those that I worked for in that error  era....even in the zany '80s' when every vague level surface had razor scratches....caught up a little during our Xmas trip to hang with what's left of the family...

Managed to dodge the SWest meltdown with only one bag that got lost/found/lost again, but finally caught up....  Trek back relatively uneventful...

Oh, well...still good at staying under the radar after 55+/- years of eyes open, before, during, and after. ;) *G*

@pcrhkr ....concrete speakers remind this unnerved ABnormal of the sewer pipe rendition that got flaunted about.... 🙄  I build some pairs back when, but liked the smell of cutting real wood v. grinding concrete...and saving lower back for more obscene and pleasurable moves....😇

Invalid - you have a great point. Build that nice flat response speaker and then go add that beast subwoofer so it sounds great but no longer a flat curve on the low end. Then the next poorly EQ recording comes on and you launch over to the sub woofer finger fondling in desperation for the sub volume.  Next song, repeat. With the room? O boy, that's a can of worms. I have Nothing against subs, just being a bit sarcastic about not enjoying the music without picking apart musical reproduction when the source may not be as good as the speakers they are played back on. Some recordings sound as good on computer speakers. Do I like accurate music reproduction? Yes, how I perceive it. But my personal goal is to enjoy music and let it move my emotions, stir memories, excitement and admiration for the artists talent. I did the best I believe with the $$ I have. (No concrete speakers here) :)

LOL @asvjerry,

It’s 420 Somewhere....

Hey, some of the guys did work for Golden State Greens Dispensary on 420 and their form of payment for services rendered, two large goodie bags stuffed full of what ever your heart desires.

We could / can party like it’s 1999 once again, and in wait for the Big Network Crash that never did happen / occur!

;-)

@dill

🤣

That's hilarious.  He absolutely deserves to be memorialized that way.

3,2,1, I miss you

I'm sorry I got issues

What if I run away to mars?

Ciao, J

*sigh* ....but the monsters always return, if only in ones' dreams....😏

3:15 to 10:15 if amused enough   ;)

The Perfect Speaker...is the one you have.

For now, anyway.. *G*

Meanwhile, while cleaning shop...

It's 420 Somewhere....

Well, it would appear the subject of this thread has been silenced…

”His holiness master Kenjit has been silenced. This account is no longer active”

One can only hope…

How do you even know that the sound of a speaker is actually accurate, I don't think any speaker made is truly accurate, especially when you add a room into the equation.

@erik_squires    thats fine with me if you don't want a speaker accurately reproduce music.

To each his own

I knew Kenjit had to be in there somewhere when I saw this highlight in the weekly recap....

but in reality a speakers job is to accurately reproduce the original source

@timlub  - I disagree.  To me these are not lab instruments anymore than a car is. I buy, build and critique speakers based on whether they satisfy me.  I expect others to do the same.  The jury is very much still out on what an ideal speaker is and how it behaves in a home.  It's also been quite trendy and varies from region to region and over time.  The ideal monitor of a studio in the 1980's is surely different today.

@pcrhkr    Not sure how I got picked for that comment, I have to assume that it was from my list of kenjit quotes.    But either way, I can completely understand your comment. However, although a perfect speaker may not exist, a near perfect speaker certainly could be created, yet not liked by many people for many reasons.  A specific frequency curve may be preferred by someone,  but in reality a speakers job is to accurately reproduce the original source.  Perfect phasing, perfect time alignment and perfectly flat response is the only way to achieve that... Then, besides personal taste, you have the issue of rooms to deal with.  My speakers that I use at home are built to be flat in My Room at My Listening position.

Timlub, as long as there are imperfect ears, there will never be a perfect speaker design. The perfect speaker is in the ear of the beholder.

...hey, now....Wednesday is a lovely girl who just has....Distinct means and memes.... 😏 ...that can attract but puts one into not making quick moves while playing a flute to distract.

'Meaningful'.....😎  I thought it was time to have a good one.....

...to start the weakened early....new moon, all that....*sigh*

Pardon self and us....😔

;)

Am I the only one who remembers this?  It's kind of hilarious how even with a dozen laugh emotes people still take this thread seriously.

Wednesday Adams - Are your cookies made with real girl scouts?

@asvjerry

the old machines have their points

Ouch, I felt that!!!

but replacement parts?

Troublesome yes, but if there's a will, there's a way.

;-)

@dabel ...the old machines have their points, but replacement parts?

Ehh, not so much...;)

It was rumoured that the only reason aliens visit is to procure ball-point pens, but that's another story for another daze....

I do have a hanker for an old big-az bandsaw....but Not for making speakers from previously mentioned materials....the urge to run Soylent Green into the market in the latent future would be .... well, I'll digress.... 😏

@2channel8 ....assuming the source of *ah* ’materials’ would be ’local’.... ;/>

...there’s a ’not-so-healthy trade’ in body parts, most if not all from ’elsewhere’....

Betcha’ there’s a lot of raw materials available for the ’recycling’ in and about the Ukraine of late....maybe not musicians, but ... 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️😏

...yeah, very sick...and not in the current vernacular of 'sick'...

What sounds perfect to one is not perfect to all! Everyone hears different. How many times does this need to be said!!

AWW shucks! I wish I could have read this without all the deleted replies.

"Well that's because speakers are not made from real musicians"

I am pretty sure that woud be a capital offense in all 50 states.

@asvjerry,

Thought I’d share this bit of history I recently stumbled across since you also have a love affair for “old school” top-of-line machinery for its time, likely dating back mid 50’s.

The client (bloodline Biro) I’ve been remodeling their Barn for, location I’ll keep concealed, has these three individual pallets sitting inside which consist of … Bridgeport Series 1 (Milling Machine), Hardinge Brothers Super Precision (Metal Lathe) and DoAll Contour Machine (Metal Cutting Bandsaw). Them beauty’s which are still in immaculate condition belonged to Laszlo Biro, inventor of the modern ball-point pen. The three Machinist Machines are all of what’s left of a much more complete Shop, everything else donated

Needless to say, my number had been left with the family in hopes of entertaining a certain someone …. Boy, I would love to get my hands on them!

:-)

Very Interesting concept J. Hmm ... now you have me thinking.

Perhaps this "Tesla nitromethane block heater" were modified for human use / consumption. And if so, strapped around the thighs of lets say "Usain Bolt." By any chance would it be considered fair play, foul play, or performance enhancement ... equalling immediate disqualification?

:-)

...yeah, Tesla makes a helluva 'block heater'....

Applied just right on the battery pack...acts like nitromethane....😈

Too hot? 🤬👿☠😇 :(

"...last I saw of that car it disappeared like punched for warp X to the fourth....

Y'know what that does...."

...probably where The Elon got the id for the Boring 'chine....

figures... 😏

...take care with that TestyTiming.....😟

If f'd up, the back wheels only allow a 'pivot setting' .....both will only turn clockwise.

Whereas the front wheels will steer to lock on L and Stay there.

And for the coup de grâce, the Testy Tesla will begin to accelerate, briskly, all the way to floored.....

It takes awhile, but eventually the batteries will discharge.

Hopefully before the tires wear out to the rims...

Have fun, J
