The DAC Scam - Almost everyone believes the hype
I found that synchronizing my clock with the DAC, transport, and DDC took my digital sound to a new level This can be interesting. Could you be more specific on which kind of improvements you noticed with either the clock synchronization or you...
The DAC Scam - Almost everyone believes the hype
I've come to the conclusion whomever believes most things ASR says doesn't have a very resolving system. Midfi at best. It's not the dac chip mainly it's the overall implementation. I've owned several dacs over the years and you get what you pay ...
The DAC Scam - Almost everyone believes the hype
@stuartk  We all may perceive the sound differently. I just like tube sound and prefer my tube DAC over all other ones. I am just now comparing two class D amps. One has  a notably less distortion than the other, while the second one has much wide...
The DAC Scam - Almost everyone believes the hype
@stuartk , My point of view is that we all depend too much on the quality of recordings we are listening to. Even on a poorly recorded music, the amps and speakers make huge difference, whereas the differences between DACs are much less. I do not ...
The DAC Scam - Almost everyone believes the hype
@stuartk    We are talking about the importance of a DAC compared to the other components of a system, comparing the impact of a descent DAC on a system. An impact of an amplifier or a speaker on the SQ of the system is drastic . All modern dec...
Question for Atma-sphere, will expensive power cables improve your amplifiers?
With my experience an expensive supposedly good power cord used for an amplifier gives you a little bit more power. I would not say that it really affects the sound quality, either in SS or tubes.
Help me build up a jazz album collection. Can you suggest a must have album?
There are no must have albums you should listen different jazz musicians and  get a feeling and your own taste of what you like in jazz.
The DAC Scam - Almost everyone believes the hype
After a quite long time experience with DACs of different categories and prices I'm convinced that they make minor changes in overall sound reproduction and quality. I suggest all of them use similar kind the conversion methods, whereas the hardwa...

RIP Tommy Obrien - Cherry Amp
@snaps, just in case if you know if there is some way to get a diagram of Tommy's Megashino amp.
Black Sabbath and Jazz fans?
I would not mix hard rock with jazz I still fully enjoy Black Sabbath and other my favourite rock bands. I am a big jazz fan as well spending considerably more time listening to jazz and classical music, but occasionally when my wife is not at hom...
Which sounds better 2 way or 3 way speaker design
Coax drivers for mid and high range help in a better two way design and the sound is perhaps more coherent in such two way and even more coherent in a one way design than in a three way speakers.
Top 10 Live Albums
referring to point 4 of the original post, Pictures at an exhibition of Emerson Lake and Palmer is an exceptional live album.
Is anyone here still into live concerts these days?
In exceptional rare cases I can go to live concerts. if not completely acoustic the sound quality on such concerts is considerably worse than with my audio system. So it becomes like a waste of time and money.
Chet Baker vs. Miles Davis
As already mentioned in this thread Miles Davis had much more wider interests in music. Not less importantly, he contributed in the formation of many outstanding musicians.
