Bjork…We have had a new similar style artist appear over here in Europe.
This years “Eurovision Song Contest” has resulted in a winner with the same eclectic style of singing. Up and down the musical scale like somebody singing vivaciously and demented while riding on a rollercoaster.
The artist is from Austria and bares some resemblances to a Yodeller, which l suppose is not so unusual considering……
I guess @lordmelton has something in common with Fat Donnie. Fat Donnie is also going full-snowflake and he wants to have Bruce investigated. Donnie and lord snowflake are two snowflakes in a pod.
Looks like Brucie had another meltdown in Manchester UK, this TDS is serious stuff. He seems to be having a bad hair day too WTF that ain't a rockers hairdo, he looks like a shoe salesman.
Dylan. Nasally, self important narcissist whose gifted lyricist ability is wholly subsumed by his limited musicianship. He was the right person at the exact right time.
The Beatles were political, the Stones were complete hedonists.
Brucie is setting himself up to be the Fuzzy Zoeller of the music world.
Most musicians together with sports stars are pretty thick because they devote all their time to their profession and are blinkered to everything else.
Many are just thick anyway, I remember my company was a sponsor of the British Olympic squad. What a bunch of thickos. Sponsored Hong Kong rugby sevens too. Thick as pigshit.
One of the reasons they get robbed by their advisors/accountants.
Oh actors too RDN is a prime example of ignorance and stupidity.
Most of these people are unable to define a woman, a man can have a baby and ladyboys are real women.
All your recent posts have lobbed this discussion back onto yesterdays billboard and we are back into the charts. “Are there any recording artists you just can’t listen to?” Clearly there are.
Checking this morning it has thrown up 17210 views & 406 posts clarifying a dearly loved (unloved) artist(s) (dis)appreciation society. The “music” category only has scores higher marked for titles like…”what’s playing on your turntable tonight?” and the other variables like “tune of the day”
Thanks to all who are keeping this subject alive.
No surprise the same reoccurring artists keep on scoring as usual... Bob & Bruce with enough votes to make up a….
@mylogicI looked it up and found this, so I assume it was this JJ guy:
Austrian performer Johannes Pietsch won the 69th Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday night while Israel's Yuval Raphael came second after a tense showdown at the Grand Final in Basel, Switzerland.
Pietsch, an Austrian-Filipino opera singer who also goes by the name of JJ, sang "Wasted Love" in a ramshackle dingy amid strobe lighting on stage, earning 436 points. He beat Israeli entrant Raphael as she finished second with 357 points, while also winning the public vote section of the competition.
The top five included Estonia coming third with 356 points, Sweden with 321 points and Italy with 256 points.
The Grand Final included Raphael singing her power ballad, "New Day Will Rise."
So, do the winners of this contest get a record deal?
Say what people will of Bob Dylan and Rod Stewart and some of the others, you have to admit they have distinctive voices, instantly recognizable. For fame and fortune, sometimes that is a good thing, even more important than sounding good. That one guy's cat is a good judge. LOL.
So many pop stars of today (when I can stomach listening to a pop station for a while) all sound the same. Someone coined the term "Sad Girl Starter Pack".
Yes the winner will always get a record released in their home country. In the older days of the competition a 7” single for the pop charts,
Depending upon the language chosen for the song (which can make a huge difference for the whole of Europe) will determine how many other countries deem it commercially viable.
The competition has become bigger and more expensive to produce for the winning country who has to host the next competition. Ireland won it many times and a burden on the TV channel there to keep on hosting. The cost was so immense it was said that the station didn’t want to win the next years competition.
The show was renowned for some countries bias and extreme political ideals which in the judging and voting was plainly obvious and unfair. That’s why the public vote was introduced (and a money spinner), but that has made no difference at all. I mean how can some countries get zero public votes?
The Eurovision Song Contest is just a pouting and posturing spectacle where actual lyrics and musical performance can come second to plain crassness.
To be honest l do not bother to watch it. I just tune in at the end to view and laugh at all the stupid voting. Personally for me, the only entertaining part is watching the “lovey dovey” blown 💋💋💋and ❤️❤️❤️ from the artists, plus the frenzied gesticulations of the screaming, madding crowd.
I can honestly say, The European Song Contest is a programme l just can’t watch.
Afterthought….
I have just realised…. There is something worse than listening to Edith Piaf.
If anyone is unaware the Brits and French absolutely despise each other. Going back further than the 100 years war (imagine over 100 years of war) finally settled at the Battle of Agincourt in 1415 with Britain controlling most of France.
Then ABBA come along and won the ESC with Waterloo which marked the annihilation of Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo, 1815. Napoleon is THE French hero and if you're looking for a fight just slag off Napoleon to a French guy.
France never recovered from Waterloo and ABBA and to add further insult the Paris to London cross channel train terminates at Waterloo Station in South London.
Agincourt did not end the 100 Years War. 1337-1453
Not a total 100+ years of fighting. It was on and off with long periods of peace and status quo (thank God we didn’t have the pop group around that long)
William the Conqueror came over on more than a holiday in 1066 because he got fed up of living in his own 🏰 in Normandy. Good old Anglo-Saxon interbreeding for nearly 400 years and a new line of “English” (not) kings.
So you could say it was Anglo-French fighting French at Agincourt. Swings and roundabouts for nobles and their serfs. Don’t mention Trafalgar Square north of Waterloo Station…..you might upset the Spanish.🇪🇸
@lordmelton do you know why Brittany (French region) is called Brittany?
Washington is a district in Northumbria in England, the USA version is a fake...or is it the chicken or the egg syndrome?……Things aren’t always what they seem to be. Ha Ha
Ah, because of all the negative comments I had to check out Edith Piaf on Tidal as I had never heard of her. Whoa! Bad - but not any worse than Joan Baez with that vibrato making her sound like a cassette played on a deck needing the rollers cleaned. Wow and flutter much. LOL.
Don’t you like the “Titanic Song” My Heart Will Go On?
AAhhhhh…. l can perhaps maybe see why? She could…. Gowwww Owwnnnn a bit.
After 25 years it can now sound a bit over the side…l mean top. There is one mitigating life saving fact, only she could nail that high note “diva” ending, now a Titanic sound bite from the period.
I perceive Edith Piaf's voicing/delivery in the context of when it was popular. Her popularity soared in the war years, this is a voice of patriotism, resolve.
Joan Baez sometimes does the vibrato thing to excess, nothing near these 'divas' so popular today, way over the top vocal gymnastics bugs me to no end. Sing it straight like the pop singers of the past, don't need all this additional show horsing.
Elton's John, Arrow Smith, Rush, Kween, Nirvana, Pearl Germ, Evanessence. All the metal rap bands (linkin park, papa roach, limp biskwik, system of a down, lip snott). There's plenty more. I'll get to 'em later.
I dont understand by lack of knowledge what it means...
i dislike pop as industrial or almost all music known by most ,but not all for sure...
i never listen anything recorded by popular singer in any genre...I did not even know their names...
There is exception (Bob Dylan for his poetry and Leonard Cohen) (Joan Baez and few others dating back my younger years as Léo Ferré singing the french poets)
Words matter as much to me than music...
i prefer classical, Indian/ Persian and jazz music...
@mahgisterhere in the states, industrial music and pop music are 2 different things. i love industrial music. i detest pop music.
l think in your case you may call it that as pop music sounds mechanical and because of its repetitive rhythms? Clockwork timing and consistent beat orientation can sound mechanical.
The definition of “Industrial music” is a genre of music that draws on harsh mechanical, transgressive, or provocative sounds.
In my understanding sounding like some avant-garde experimental music. Examples that come to mind would be the soundtracks Ennio Morricone composed for Italian horror/crime/physiological movies in the 60s and 70s. Some people have called this period of the composers writings impenetrable…..an unnerving and irritating listen. A part of this recoding artists output that some just can’t listen to.
Pretty much anything Rap or Hip Hop - I have no interest in developing an appreciation to the genre - and I will proudly add Bruce S to that list as of this week. I have developed an appreciation for most anything else (at least in small doses). If you want to write and perform a song, Go for it, but the Editorial crap is not what I pay $200 - $500 for. STAY in YOUR LANE.

Unusual for me to bring this up, l have tried to be (biting tongue) impartial to the names posted…..”artists you just can’t listen to”
On this occasion l would like to add that others may not like his lyrics or can’t even bare the sight of looking at him (poor man has a medical condition too) but l would like to say….
IMHO, some artists have used his writings and have made some interesting recordings with their own vocalisations to better effect.
“With God on Our Side” Manfred Mann, sung by Paul Jones.
“Masters of War” with stranger exaggerated vocals by Jose Feliciano.
Some may not be tolerant of Bob singing these songs, but when reworked or revisited by other artists, the writing talent (for me) shines through.
Bob Dylan is a real poet... Most people dont even know how to read prose they certainly not appreciate poetry...
If not a poetical genius he will not be in my very short list of popular artists i like ...
I concur with this post of mylogic:
Redeeming features of Bob Dylan’s early music.

When comparing the original lyrics from 1963 to the later Manfred Man version you can see two verses dropped. The first… The Spanish-American War/The Civil War section. The other that included, “l learnt to hate the Russians all through my whole life. If another war comes, it’s them we must fight”
Heavier stuff with some foreboding and maybe prophesy. Manfred Mann did change a few minor lines like “The country l come from is called the Midwest” for a more recognised term (in Europe) “The country l come from is part of the free west”
Bob laid it down the way he saw it in those Cold War times. It looks like he had the same view on Russians as General George S Patton who said that of them, at the end of WW2.
@unclewilbur All the lies and slander that has been said about Jan 6th turned out to be just that, lies. Only one person was killed and that was Ashli Babbitt, a Trump supporter whom was fatally shot by a Capital policeman. Her family has just been awarded $5m compensation, should have been more. Hope the family open a civil case against the cop, take his house, car, pension and everything else he possesses.
In contrast your guys supported the BLM riots in which dozens were killed and no one was ever convicted of murder, looting or arson.
Pelosi is on record of refusing to call in the National Guard after Trumps request on Jan 6th.
So MAGA hats off to Trump and Elon, stew in your excrement for another 3.5 or 7.5 years Uncle Wilbur.
BTW get yourself checked for TDS, it could prove fatal.
"Stew in your excrement for another 3.5 or 7.5 years Uncle Wilbur."
Spoken just like the sleazeball, low IQ cult fanatic who only likes fake nooze.
And that’s a lot of deflection there!!!
So, let’s get back to the subject you brought up, which is "Chronic Trump Derangement Syndrome" and who is actually deranged.
Is it deranged to support someone who pardoned 1600 people convicted of attacking the Capitol, in an attempt to overturn a legitimate election?
Next we can discuss how deranged you must be to praise, worship, and defend, Trump’s sexual assault, bankrupt casinos, and 34 felonies.
And a lot more! ...Like having sex with Stormy Daniels three days after Melania gave birth to Barron! Is that your idea of a president? Is that how fathers act???????
I discount @lordmeltonfrom the accusation above… a typo of sorts without my monocle…..
It should have been addressed to a……. @lordidiot ?
Or was that just a synonym from @unclewilbur ?
If it was a further insult from Uncle Wilbur, then “He’s a very naughty boy”….Eric Idle. Life of (Wilbur) Brian
Look on the Brightside (of Life), Brucie has released a 6 track EP containing some UK live tracks together with his unique political and social commentary.
I see the flow of this discussion has suffered from verbal interruptus by the censor/moderator. Two posts removed, and one of them was MINE…..trying to moderate the confrontational language between @lordmelton aka @lordidiot & @unclewilbur
The rest of you will now never know what those sweet conversations were
Except Carlin and Williams and Thompson all took their own life. I suspect in part because they knew somehow it was all for naught.
Anyhow, to come back to Dylan. I can’t underestimate his social and political importance. His lyrics spoke for millions and shaped music and literature. Idk if he deserved the Nobel Prize, but his contribution to Western culture is undeniable. But still, if only his technical proficiency matched his lyrics. I think his best songs came alive when covered by others.
