Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

Noteworthy "guest musician" - Brian Auger.
The Band---The Making of "Rockin' Chair" & Commentary on Vocals. Producer John Simon and Levon Helm sit at a mixing console, bringing up faders to demonstrate the incredible vocal arrangement and performance of the song. Comments on The Band's vocals provided by George Harrison and Bernie Taupin. Do yourself a huge favor and watch the video on You Tube.
Pink Floyd, “A Collection Of Great Dance Songs”   On vinyl
Nirvana, “Bleach”   On vinyl
Miles Davis, “Kind Of Blue”    MFSL  SACD
John Coltrane, “Both Directions At Once” (The Lost Album)   On CD

geoffkait,

I love Roxy Music's "For Your Pleasure". When CDs were new, that was only available as an import, and I pair $25.00 for it at Third Street Jazz in Philly. I was happy to do so. What great music!

Ronny James Dio, "The Last In Line"
Collective Soul, "Hints, Allegations & Things Left Unsaid"

both on digital
Just listened to P.F. Meddle. Cranked Echoes to peaks of about 110 db. Awesome ! Enjoy ! MrD.
Sue Foley - The Ice Queen

This is an amazing album if you like Texas blues. Sue has her own distinctive style. A true artist in her own right. Has some amazing sidemen on the album which proves she is admired by other great Blues guitarists.
We caught Sue Foley last year at Antone's in Austin, playing with Billy Gibbons, Charlie Sexton, Mike Flanigin and Jimmie Vaughan- she can kick ass. Had a '60s look going with a 'hair-do'- good entertainer.
The Nines - self-titled

Heard it courtesy of Spotify. VERY difficult to find a copy for purchase, but finally did (CD Baby? Digital download but only MP3 if I recall). Track 1 is "Sun Don’t Shine". Accept no substitutes. This is a Steve Eggers album.

Wish the drummer were a little more on top of the beat (or even a little ahead) and sound quality ain’t exactly odd-ee-o-file BUT great garage rock...good vocals, strong songs, great guitar riffs and excellent screaming. It’s been that kind of a month.

ghosthouse,

Great track! Just what the Dr. ordered. Diggin The Nines. Good ole Rock n Roll.

Stumbled across this one a few days ago. It's stuck in my head for some reason.

"Space Junk"

Loved the groove on Space Junk.  It also reminded me of something...

Strange Groove from World Party's (Karl Wallinger's) Egyptology.

"Just a piece of rock in heaven
Moving 'round the sky
To a strange groove...."

I'm thinking Karl was channeling a little Wang Chung for this track.
Antartica by Vangelus........truly one of the best sound experiences there is.   If you can find a copy get it.
Joan Osborne: Bring It On Home, and Songs Of Bob Dylan. Bring It On Home is pretty good (her and her band's take on Slim Harpo's "Shake You Hips" is fantastic! Another great recording of the song is on Lou Ann Barton's Read My Lips album), Songs Of Bob Dylan is, imo, not. His kind of songs are just not her forte'. There's no depth to the interpretation, the lyrics don't seem to have any meaning to her (though I'm sure they do). Still love ya, Joan!

Nostalgia lane: BTO - Not Fragile. I think it was the first LP I ever got. A bit course and simplistic lyrics but still a great album. Wish I still had the LP. The cover was stamped so that you could feel the gears in the picture.
A few that stood out for me today:
Charlie Robinson, "Good Times"

Rusty Truck, "Cold Ground"

Eagles of Death Metal, "I Want You So Hard ( Boy's Bad News)
