Some thoughts on ASR and the reviews
@erik_squires thanks for initiating this thread, as an amateur speaker builder I appreciate your post and thoughts. @amir_asr thanks for posting here with your responses and input - I have spent a fair bit of time on your site over the last few ye...
Re: streaming recommendations for newbie
Plus one for @2psyop suggestion to get Bluesound Node X and a Teddy Pardo external power supply.  If the combination is too rich for now, you could get the Node X now, and get the Teddy Pardo later as a reasonably priced upgrade path.  If the DAC ...
Component contributions to “sound stage”
@williewonka I will check out those links.  Thanks. kn
Turntable Isolation
@elevick have you tried Mapleshade’s complete vibration control system with the wooden platform and the brass footers along with the cork/rubber blocks?  I am not suggesting that the blocks alone are adequate.  Not that a VPI table really needs mo...
Component contributions to “sound stage”
I would also add that putting a blanket over my television mounted on the wall between my speakers does wonders for the soundstage when listening in two channel. kn
Component contributions to “sound stage”
@ghdprentice +1 @blisshifi “While the DAC chip and conversion process itself should not be responsible for altering the presentation of the soundstage, the rest of the design and engineering of the DAC, including how it manages a low noise floor ...
Turntable Isolation
Going a bit further than what @elliottbnewcombjr recommended, you can go with Mapleshade’s complete vibration control system.  A bit much visually, but I have found it to be effective, both in protecting from footfalls and cleaning up the treble a...
Component contributions to “sound stage”
OK, here we go.  I asked this question in part because of recent discussions on ASR and Head Fi Science Forum about measuring soundstage and if different DACs could contribute to a listener’s perception of soundstage in their system.  It ended (fo...
Bluesound Node (2021) PS upgrade to Teddy Pardo; is it worth it?
Update on Teddy Pardo Dual5 - 2X5 3A power supply to power both my Chord Qutest and my Node (Gen3).  Most of this is from a previous post on Head Fi. Listening first to the impact on the Qutest, it was clearly very different from the stock switch...
Component contributions to “sound stage”
Thanks folks, this is interesting.  I assumed most folks would start with the speakers, but it’s interesting how many started with the recording.  Keep it coming. kn
New streamer needed
I don’t think I’ve seen this suggestion on the thread yet, but you might look into the Bluesound Node (Gen 3).  I went through this decision process last year and decided to get the Bluesound.  I like the app and the sound quality of the built in ...
External Linear Power Supplies
The Teddy Pardo supply is also leaps and bounds better than the switching supply built into the Bluesound Node.  My digital front end has now been improved across the board by adding the Pardo supply.  Tighter bass, more detail across the frequenc...
The sound quality from DACs - is it all the same?
"What is the difference between troll and man?” Cousins.
External Linear Power Supplies
@jerrybj thanks for your reply. I am using a Swagman Labs SE 18V power supply with my Pro-Ject Tubebox DS phono preamp, and it is excellent.  Based on general positive reviews on forums, I just bought a Teddy Pardo Dual 5V/3A supply to power both ...
Cable Break In for the Naysayers
@ozzy thanks for sharing your experience with cable break in. I have found similar results with pretty much every kind of cable used in my systems, and it is a given when I build new power cables that I let them burn in for weeks before serious ev...
