Thanks for bringing this song and these two special artist up today, you can feel the baggage they carry as they render their interpretation of this beautifully heartbreaking Bob Dylan tune. The rest of the album isn't bad either. Enjoy the music
Too good to be buried in a thread.
One of my favorite songs of the past three decades, sung as a duet by a couple of fantastic sister singers:

For good measure, performed by the songs writer and his excellent band:

Music of this quality makes life tolerable.
@roadcykler -- I was blessed to have seen the mighty Ronnie James Dio numerous times in my formative teenage years and early adulthood. First with Rainbow, then Black Sabbath, and, of course, Dio. Loved every concert. One of the greatest voices in Rock and Metal, and the power that came out of his diminutive body was unreal. The Rainbow albums fronted by Dio get a regular workout on my stereo!
Here’s one of my favorites from the Rainbow "Rising" album. That Cozy Powell drum opening always fires me up:

@roadcykler: Wow, your reaction to the music in the two videos I posted is to categorize it as "audio show type music"? I don't find it to be so, but one man's poison.....
I love AC/DC, Weezer, and other Rock bands, and have no problem with the singing of Bon Scott and Brian Johnson. But I think everyone is already familiar with them, and my objective in the music threads I initiate is to bring to the attention of AudiogoN members music/singers/songwriters/musicians they may not be familiar with. I could just as easily post videos of Howlin' Wolf and Big Joe Turner if you would prefer. Speaking of Joe, it's not a stretch to make the argument that he was the very first Rock 'n' Roll singer.

@bdp24 thank you for this--was not familiar with either of them--my sister used to be my source of artists i'd never heard but sadly she's in nursing home now. I love these threads with artists i don't know yet. I just listened to these two girls version of Ol 55--it's pretty good too! |
@wyoboy: My pleasure! Though I am the oldest sibling, my two younger sisters are slowing becoming---how shall I put it? Mentally challenged. Music is my escape from the grim reality of our brief lifespans in these bodies we inhabit. Watching in abject horror as cancer ate my mothers brain when I was 14 to 15 years old installed in me a fatalistic view of life. Thank God for music, which is for me the primary reason for not putting an end to this nonsense. Just kidding.

@bdp24 I am also the oldest--beat my twin sister out by 8 minutes😀 But my sister a year younger was on the vanguard of music and everything else growing up and she turned me on to SRV, Little Feat, Joe Bonamassa, Jimmy Buffett and others all long before any of them became famous. Sadly her pace of life caught up to her. I've tried to explain the feeling of music to my wife but she doesn't get it--anything played louder than 30db is too loud for her--thank God i have a music room! |
