Stereophile reviews the active Grimm LS1C
Time and audio march on.  We'll just have to wait and see what becomes of the LS1C. This does seem to be a new direction that audio is taking.
Seeking a recommendation for 12Au7 tubes for Conrad Johnson ET6SE preamplifier
Give Brent Jessee a call.  I think you'll need tubes that are tough and sound good. BRENT JESSEE RECORDING HOMEPAGE
Anyone wear gloves to handle vacuum tubes?
I’m pretty sure that back in the heyday of tubes, the 50s and 60s, no one wore gloves to handle them. Glove wearing may just be more audio tweakery.
Did I Expect too much?
The speakers are beautiful and the sound exceeds my expectations (after a minor upgrade). It's not easy to build a pair of speakers that are beautiful and sound beautiful for people with high expectations for $15,000.  Running a business today ...
The new dCS Varese DAC...it is so good that all others are now relegated to history??
Anyone outraged by the review of the DCS Varese should read the review of the $11,100 MBL Cadenza in the December 2024 TAS.  There are many fine digital players at many different price levels.
A great, great talk by Robbie Robertson on all things The Band.
@bdp24  Great explanation of the financial workings of The Band.  I've read a lot of Robbie vs Levon posts and haven't read a better explanation of the issues. What do you think of the remixed versions of the Band's catalog?
Jesse Colin Young has passed away.
Sad news.  He made some great music.
A great, great talk by Robbie Robertson on all things The Band.
@bdp24 Nice talk With Robbie. He always sounds intelligent and honest to me. I know some of Levon’s followers don’t think so, but what can you do? Here’s a video of Robbie talking about his relationship with Levon: Robbie Robertson Talks About ...
12AX7 tubes for the phono stage of VAC Avatar SE integrated.
The Amperex will sound different from the Mullard and RCA tubes, but I can't say if they're what you're looking for.
12AX7 tubes for the phono stage of VAC Avatar SE integrated.
Amperex are noted for their midrange. The ones made in the Heerlen, The Netherlands factory are what you might want. They can come with different labels, mostly Phillips, but also others. There was also an Amperex factory in New Jersey. Good tube...
Qobuz and Chandos
Qobuz sent me a message  a couple of weeks ago that the links to some albums in people's Favorites had disappeared, but not to worry they'd have it fixed within 72 hours.  I still have some Favorites that say "Album Not Found" when I try to open t...
Has anyone heard Esoteric K-01XS and K-01XD - or Grandioso K1X
I haven't been able to compare those players but here's a thread where there was some discussion of the sound quality of a couple of those players. Audiogon Discussion Forum

@artistx  Nice review site.  Thanks!
Class A bias, speaker sensitivity, watts...?
@richardbrand I found an explanation for, or at least support for, the idea that Class A watts halve as speaker impedance halves. It’s from the December 2023 Stereophile review of the Accuphase A-300 amp. Her’s the link and the relevant quote: ...
12au7 tube?
Brent Jessee has the Phillips factory codes and how to read them on his site here: Mullard, Philips, and Valvo Tube Codes Phillips owned many of the popular NOS tube manufacturers. Brent says one thing I disagree with, though. That is that you o...
