Otis Campbell : “You might fit in your car Barney, but I’m never going to fit in mine”
People don’t have any respect for one another from behind painted protective glass! The true colors shine and we find out the world is full of sociopaths. I guess when a population and technology get to this level its it’s easy, it sure is sad though! Talk about the patheticness of humans, even during a pandemic where 1000s of people a day are dying we still find a way to treat each other like complete garbage and not even care one bit! Pretty disgusting!! Probably why pandemics exist! I’m not saying I hope anyone gets this disease and dies just making an observation. People need to remember there are people on the other side of the glass too... get off the psuedo intellectual high horse cause you may not exist tomorrow anyway and if your comfortable going out on that note that’s between you and whatever you believe. So if you wanna admittedly be a sociopath because you can get away with it, then by all means keep it going I don’t care it really doesn’t bother me at all that’s why I’m not the one being trolled in the end. |

Haha this is why there should be a block button! I initially just got tired of clowns responding with irrelevant negative b.s. and half witted insults, seemed like they were just trying to be douchbags. Its real easy to be an asshole behind a computer screen or a phone but the reality is, those of you with your negative ignorant comments and critiques can’t even fathom the logic and you admitted and proved that much. It’s like you are so cut throat you walk right into it and don’t even see how absolutely ridiculously ignorant you act. I have a feeling if we were all sitting in a room together talking about hifi, a topic such as this would never come up! The reason being is simply because a lot of people are not just douchbags in the real world cause they know a fist could land shortly after this exact type of smugness! So the people that think they are so funny with the critiques and smugness, lack respect and that’s all there is to it. That’s why a block button should exist, to shun those who lack respect to begin with. I have met some reall cool people on this but I’ve also ran into some of the biggest clowns I think I’ve ever ran into on a forum type website which is ironic considering this is a hifi forum... I’m new to hifi and this has me wondering if a lot of people that are into this hobby are just smug and rude! Still something tells me 99% of negative comments and rudeness would never exist face to face and in think we all know why and I think we all know what those people really are! |
Blocking people? Is it possible to block rift raft on this site?gguy767Yes, don't read it, if you don't like it. Funny though, you have to read it to decide if you don't like it. Chicken or the egg. You probably need a, "do not read button". Could just use a paper bag, you know, put it over your head when those bothersome rift-rafters show up, take a peek every now and then, maybe cut out one eye hole in the bag.. Just a thought.. Regards. |
@gguy767, I take it you are fed-up with someone posting here? I imagine mods could ban someone if they are sufficiently offensive. Have you tried appealing to them, or are you doing that via this thread? I would try ignoring them, not reading their stuff and not responding to their attempts to rile you. If they don’t get a reaction, they probably pursue someone else. Just a suggestion. |
@gguy767 @millercarbon I never could comprehend or understand for that matter, why it is that grammar Nazis exist. But the term grammar Nazi is a great term considering Hitler murdered 6 million Jews for no reason (Hitler had a reason, just not a good reason). If you are following the logic here (your logic changed from comparing a person who corrects grammar to Hitler to getting an endorphin rush, two very different things, so no, I'm not following the logic), a grammar Nazi tends to get a sense of endorphin rush at the mere chance they can feel more intellectually superior, and why? By pointing out the grammatical flaws in a paragraph or sentence written by a person they are of no relation to whatsoever (what difference does it make if we're related or not?), the immediate rush of superiority sends the brain "feel good signals" (Possibly true, but some people simply love the written word and hate to see it mangled. Also, it's possible that we actually are intellectually superior.). Then, like the king ape of the jungle who beats all the other apes so he can have his mate (if correcting grammar gets me more action with the opposite sex, so be it), he pounds on his chest like champion of the world. It definitely does not come from the frontal lobe of the brain which uses reason and logic. That is what separates us from the apes (Actually, humans and great apes have very similarly sized frontal lobes. Recent studies have shown that the brains of humans have increased in size in other areas leading to different abilities.). Grammar Nazis are purely limbic driven which is basically how ape's brains function (not true). Through countless and endless (I bet you could actually count them and they'll end when you stop making grammatical errors) encounters with these grammar Nazis I have concluded (no need for the word "existentially" as we all conclude things grounded in existence) these people are more along the lines of pseudo-thinkers or some would call them NPCs or bots. The ("pure matter of the" is unnecessary as a fact is known to be true) fact is, many individuals are not savvy when it comes to punctuation, spelling, or grammar but it doesn't make them any less important (true, but it might make them less intelligent) than the next person. It also doesn't mean a person is not intelligent (true, but there are levels of intelligence). Many great thinkers, philosophers, scientists, and people of stature or prominence have had their (some of us learned the difference between there, their, and they're in 3rd grade and some of us didn't) shortcomings, some in grammar, some in other areas. Only the most narrow of minds would conclude that the end all say all (I've never heard the phrase "end all say all", maybe you meant what Shakespeare wrote about MacBeth: "But this blow might be the be all and the end all.") of your intellect is based on certain individual traits (I think you mean based on one trait, as intellect is based on multiple traits). Some people are mechanics, some people couldn't tie their own shoe, some rocket scientists are horrible people (what does this have to do with spelling and grammar?), some are not. Just don't let Dunning Kruger rule your life (Dunning–Kruger effect has nothing to do with correcting grammar. It's a cognitive bias in which people with low ability at a task overestimate their ability, sort of like you and writing). A piece of paper doesn't mean you are more intelligent than the next guy nor does a letter (not sure what a letter has to do with intelligence). This is copy and paste for all the grammar Nazis. I keep this in my Notepad due to the fact that so many people (say perhaps, you?) just don't think deep enough to even see their own shortcomings. |
Can't stand those Nazi blowhard tweakers, yanking my cable and making me blow a blue fuse. Just want to decouple and crawl into the corner of my bass node. It's like 128 bits of obnoxious noisy interference coming at me too bright. I really should treat myself to some nice absorbing material so I can have a more linear response |
