Some people actively participate but rarely if ever start a thread.
I’ve only been here 5 years.  I participated more at the start than I have the past couple of years.  I realize I still don’t know much, and I don’t have the experience swapping equipment in and out like so many others here. I don’t even go to aud...
Guidance
When you mentioned DarTZeel and said you didn’t want to break the bank, I almost inhaled my gum!  Could buy a house or buy DarTZeel!
«40% Of Audiophiles Are Dying And No One Is Doing Anything About It!»
My hunch is that a lot of young Americans don’t have the discretionary income that their parents or grandparents had.  Education costs are high, housing costs are high, and once they get married and have children there are too many other things co...
Why did you purchase the equipment you have and what do you like most about it?
I was away from quality stereo equipment for about a long time since having received a Pioneer receiver, large advent loudspeakers, a used Sony reel-to-reel tape deck and Garrard turntable as gifts from my parents when I was a teen in the early 19...
Bose 901 Review Well Done.
OP, thanks for the link to review.  I’ve never heard the 901, but from everything I’ve read or heard, it surprises me that a reviewer really likes them.
Has it all been worth it?
I decided up front that I would only spend a modest amount on audio equipment (about $8,000 so far), and that has still been fun.  I don’t want to leave a bunch of equipment to my sons that they probably won’t care about or be able to get the mone...
The best opening act you've ever seen & heard?
Last year, I attended a concert by Dwight Yoakam.  He had two opening acts, the second of which was The Mavericks.  I had never heard them before, and I’m not really a mariachi type of guy, but their playing and singing were so good, and the music...
Getting a Divorce and can now buy floor standing speakers
I’m curious about this one.  I’ve read reviews that stated that those who have disliked Martin Logan conventional speakers should hear the XL f-200, about $5500 for the pair: https://images.app.goo.gl/Yauuj9S8EkFNADeJ7
Favorite Album Cover (picture or art on the cover)
So many cool album covers.  Like Robin Trower’s “Twice Removed From Yesterday”.  Some of the “Earth, Wind and Fire” album covers.  Santana “Abraxas”. Then this obscure offering, Savoy Brown “Looking In”.  Used to scare my young nephew by telling h...
WHY DO SOME AUDIOPHILES TRY TO TELL OTHERS WHAT THEY CAN OR CAN’T HEAR IN A SYSTEM?
My guess, always feeling like a novice, is that people might not know who to believe among the (self) anointed experts.  Seeing that experienced and knowledgeable people disagree, some might suspect there is no “right” answer and that people convi...
NEW Tekton Design Speakers - The Bonnevilles
I couldn’t even afford these speakers, nor have the room to do them justice.  The knock I heard (on this forum) on Tekton speakers was that the drivers are alleged to be cheap and not quality.  Be that as it may, I don’t hear anyone talking about ...
What actually determines volume power? Is it watts?
I have run into the same issue with my set-up.  I have a Parasound A21 amp that is rated at 250 watts at 8 ohms and 400 watts at 4 ohms.  My speakers are Martin Logan 60 XL, rated at 4 ohms and 92 sensitivity — so should be easily handled by my am...
All-in-One units for retiring audiophile & music lovers in 2025, say what?
I don’t have suggestions on equipment, as I have the separates and not looking to consolidate.  But I know both young adults and older folks that aren’t enthused about a ton of equipment having cables running between them and taking up room/collec...
Is anyone here still into live concerts these days?
I still attend live shows, though the acts that interest me are few and far between.  And, I often end up ill after attending a well-attended event.  I get funny looks when I show up wearing a mask.
How cheap can you go and still be happy with the sound?
I’m like curious Jim.  I can enjoy music anywhere, from almost any source.  I think engineers have figured out a way to get decent sound on many products.  The cheapest solution that I am currently enjoying are a pair of Bluetooth speakers I found...
