@gguy767 @millercarbon I never could comprehend or understand for that matter, why it is that grammar Nazis exist. But the term grammar Nazi is a great term considering Hitler murdered 6 million Jews for no reason (Hitler had a reason, just not a good reason). If you are following the logic here (your logic changed from comparing a person who corrects grammar to Hitler to getting an endorphin rush, two very different things, so no, I'm not following the logic), a grammar Nazi tends to get a sense of endorphin rush at the mere chance they can feel more intellectually superior, and why? By pointing out the grammatical flaws in a paragraph or sentence written by a person they are of no relation to whatsoever (what difference does it make if we're related or not?), the immediate rush of superiority sends the brain "feel good signals" (Possibly true, but some people simply love the written word and hate to see it mangled. Also, it's possible that we actually are intellectually superior.). Then, like the king ape of the jungle who beats all the other apes so he can have his mate (if correcting grammar gets me more action with the opposite sex, so be it), he pounds on his chest like champion of the world. It definitely does not come from the frontal lobe of the brain which uses reason and logic. That is what separates us from the apes (Actually, humans and great apes have very similarly sized frontal lobes. Recent studies have shown that the brains of humans have increased in size in other areas leading to different abilities.). Grammar Nazis are purely limbic driven which is basically how ape's brains function (not true). Through countless and endless (I bet you could actually count them and they'll end when you stop making grammatical errors) encounters with these grammar Nazis I have concluded (no need for the word "existentially" as we all conclude things grounded in existence) these people are more along the lines of pseudo-thinkers or some would call them NPCs or bots. The ("pure matter of the" is unnecessary as a fact is known to be true) fact is, many individuals are not savvy when it comes to punctuation, spelling, or grammar but it doesn't make them any less important (true, but it might make them less intelligent) than the next person. It also doesn't mean a person is not intelligent (true, but there are levels of intelligence). Many great thinkers, philosophers, scientists, and people of stature or prominence have had their (some of us learned the difference between there, their, and they're in 3rd grade and some of us didn't) shortcomings, some in grammar, some in other areas. Only the most narrow of minds would conclude that the end all say all (I've never heard the phrase "end all say all", maybe you meant what Shakespeare wrote about MacBeth: "But this blow might be the be all and the end all.") of your intellect is based on certain individual traits (I think you mean based on one trait, as intellect is based on multiple traits). Some people are mechanics, some people couldn't tie their own shoe, some rocket scientists are horrible people (what does this have to do with spelling and grammar?), some are not. Just don't let Dunning Kruger rule your life (Dunning–Kruger effect has nothing to do with correcting grammar. It's a cognitive bias in which people with low ability at a task overestimate their ability, sort of like you and writing). A piece of paper doesn't mean you are more intelligent than the next guy nor does a letter (not sure what a letter has to do with intelligence). This is copy and paste for all the grammar Nazis. I keep this in my Notepad due to the fact that so many people (say perhaps, you?) just don't think deep enough to even see their own shortcomings.
