Are you getting the bass you deserve?

Do you feel that you are getting all the bass you deserve, or have been promised, or wanted or that you paid for?

Yes. Having upgraded my speakers to Sonus Faber Amati Traditional and gotten rid of my sub woofers I am really happy. The sound is coherent top to bottom. Great and detailed bass. And my listening room is less cluttered.

The Dark Goddess of Sub Bass believes everyone deserves good bass, but few know how to find it

Yes, and I'm getting it with just 7" drivers on my two way monitors. The 12" ones I had were a bit of overkill in my room (kinda on the small side).

All the best,
Nonoise

Snagged four tickets for some Bass, Christian McBride at Yoshi's in April. Old wood, Spirocores and...

Yes, replaced an old Velodyne with a JL Audio and it sounds great, blends well with my speakers, can't even tell it's there except for the added deep bass.

I am getting the Bass I deserve, but I have to fish longer hours and change bait more often.

I'm getting plenty of bass, but have not gotten nearly enough tilapia or salmon. Got a solution for that, OP?

I guess to refine the question if you feel that you have enough bass how did you get to that point. Was it simply avoiding the hype surrounding bass or something else?

Pair of REL Subs to go with my tower speakers, and placement guidance from Duke L ...

@sounds_real_audio

Only by adding two subs did I get the bass I was looking for and also the overall sound I wanted to achieve. I could have avoided a lot of frustration over the years by adding subs.

I also found that using them in a way that usually gets shot down on stereo forums works best in my room. I’m running the speakers full range and have the low-pass set at 80Hz.

Anyway, that works for me and maybe it will help someone else.

Cheers,

Scott

I'm not sure if I deserve anything but a swift kick in the ass.  Yet, I appreciate the sound from my system.  I'm stuck in my ways so I don't use a sub and my Sonus faber Olympica Nova Vs do seem to get it done to my satisfaction.

Speakers are just 1 link in the chain and I can say amplification, ICs, speaker and power cables have made a difference in the clarity and impact of the bass.

MY PATH: JBL 4530 > Octavium > Miller & Kreisel  Volkswoofer > Bag End S18E-D > EarthQuake Super Nova > Velodyne ULD, F, HGS, DD, DD Plus > Logitech Desktop.

AUDITIONED IN HOUSE: Cerwin-Vega > ServoDrive > JL Audio > REL > Danley Labs > QSC > Meyer Sound Labs.

OUTBOARD EQUALIZATION: Outboard Equalization: Altec > JBL > Soundcraftsman > Bag End ELF-1 > Mackie > QSC.

THE HYPE: Full range passive or powered loudspeakers.

EVERYTHING ELSE: Room mode mapping > multiple subwoofers.

Every speaker and every sub have to be set up to the room, to row music you listen to.

Yes. I have the Vandersteen 2ci with and without sub and can say I am happy both ways. I just happen to keep my sub in the system for reinforcement if needed.

I’ve owned OHM Walsh 4’s since 1986.

#1 Ensure cabinet resonances are perfectly neutralized by adjusting internal batting. This will give you excellent bass without mid-bass nasality - if you get it right.

#2 The OHM’s are bottom vented; if placed on carpet some of that energy and dynamics will be absorbed. Trick is to place speaker on an acrylic base (in the case of the 4’s it’s 16"X16") This results in a more detailed sound throughout the entire spectrum and a tighter better defined bass.

That;s what 30+ years of experimentation has taught me.

I finally got all the bass I got the bass I wanted  when I finally got the midrange I knew was possible. The right speakers and the right amplification and source. What made this possible was the excellent tube amp and pre. combined with a speaker that does not  ignore the value of music.

I can't remember ever listening to live music and thinking to myself: The band should add more bass. Never happened.

4x21-inch woofers in my office system. Giant 1000lb front bass horn in my main audio room. Im good.

TERRIFIC!

Corner bass traps had a dramatic effect on the lower end for my environment. Unsure about the look, but sold on the performance they revealed for my system.
