Gain level on a REL sub
@wsrrsw @helomech what exactly do you mean by it us the wiring? Are you referring to the quality kf the cable or how it is wired. I have followed the recommendations that REL suggested.
Gain level on a REL sub
@jji666 Yes, i am aware of them being different  sounding subs. They both are great subs but in different perspective means. As far as the far as the gain setting, it is not maxed out.  It happens to be at a little before 3/4.  @fastfreight I hav...
Gain level on a REL sub
I appreciate all the help and recommendations. All of you have valid points and can't disagree. However, let me reiterate the situation I am having. With the Hsu sub I had had more of a "presences" feel to bass drum and bass guitar but still witho...
Gain level on a REL sub
Hi @fastfreight I do have the phase corrected on the sub using a software from Rational Acoustics. The pros use this for phase and time alignment but for this is probably overkill. Honestly, if done properly you will hear it louder around the cros...
Gain level on a REL sub
Thanks for the responses. @soix I have not tried that crawl method but would be hard to do in my room. According to REL, the slope is rolloff a little to high. Rhythmik was one my option for a sub for some time. @gkelly I have used high and low l...
Amplifier recommendation
@viridian What you suggest I should go to? The Rotel RC-995 might be outdated to today standards but I still think is a good value preamp that uses a beefier PS with a toroidal tranformer and balanced outputs. Compare to my previous model RC-980BX...

Thanks again for the recommendations. I think I am down to a couple models, the Odyssey Khartago or even the Hegel H160. I like the Hegel concept using a built in DAC in an integrated amp.
Amplifier recommendation
@kennyc Thanks! I heard great things about the Odyssey amps. What are you thoughts on the Khartago model compare to the Stratos model? They seem to have similar topology with the exception of more PS caps capacity on the Stratos model. @samac the...
Amplifier recommendation
@samac Thanks for the recommendation. The RB-1590 does look sleek but for my speakers might be too much. The RB-1582 might be more suited for my taste. What about the mkii model? Is there an improvement from the original?
Amplifier recommendation
@yyzsantabarbara I was not referring CODA silky midrange in particular. The Krell model is 5x the price of the CODA I mentioned.
Topping D90SE compatibility question
@itball Thanks for the information.  I currently use a Focusrite 2i2 as a DAC and for measurements. I also have a Modi 2 Uber which I use mainly for headphone listening. I just wanting to know if there is a significant difference between the 2i2 a...
Amplifier recommendation
I appreciate all of the responses. I may be vague on what I am looking for.  It seems everyone like that smooth silky midrange sound as the main priority. Don't get me wrong when it comes to vocals and instrumental but I also like to keep it real ...
Is Recording quality the real culprit?

Listening to what we Like Instead of what we have to
@sirmelvin27 We have similar taste in music. Pat Benatar-Shadows of the Night is a good example of what a bad recording sound like even the remastered version but that is not going to stop me from listening to her music which I like. The Paradigm ...
