This is juvenile...

If you had one wish for a perfect female artist to be your lifetime mate, who would it be?

Shelby Lynne
Neko Case
128x128slaw
Easy one:

Biggest seller of all time back in the day--and an amazing artist:

Linda Ronstadt by a mile.
KATE BUSH:
I have had a crush on her since 1977 ? when she was on Saturday night live. She had on a skin tight gold Leopard lamay body suit.   Her hair was afire.  She sang the kick inside.  She was a recordist in a band at age 14. Charted at 19 years old.
She’s a singer, dancer, songwriter, actor and filmmaker.  And she is still beautiful!

Bent
Elina Garanca, or Anna Netrebko.......either or.
Hilary Hahn.
Linda Perry.
Monica Richards (faith and the Muse).
Carl McCoy (one for the ladies)  Fields of the Nephilim
Siohan Maher- River City People.

the list could go on forever...........
Of course my first choice of Ann Wilson was from before she od on doughnuts.... yes I am that base!

So can I just please take Amy Lee home instead, pretty please?
Susan Tedeschi?
Is she cool enough..?
If not I will drop her like a hot brick or whatever but....no, I really like her.
So it's Susan Tedeschi....or Linda Ronstadt circa 1974 but I was a little young so....Susan or Linda or Joni around 1971 but that's it.....unless of course I can include Ann OR Nancy Wilson late '70s and that's IT!!

OK Diana K is hot and love her music but I can't compete with Elvis (for now....) so maybe Diana Ross around 1972?? Well of course I'm ignoring Michelle Phillips and Janis Joplin (OK just seein if you're paying attention w/JJ....) but maybe Shelby Lynn...AND her sister? Please!!!??

OK I'm just a whore. Give me Brandi Carlisle, Carol King, a young Chaka Khan, Edie Brickell, Cher, Duffy, Norah Jones Hell I'll take just about anyone....

.....sorry Madonna, I said JUST about anyone, you can sit your nasty @$$ right back down!!! (I'm saving myself for Kacey Musgraves...)
Ha ha ha, what a topic!
I think I would have to either go with Linda Ronstadt or Nora Jones;  nowt that they are the most attractive, but they are, or were, beautiful women with beautiful voices that bring out emotion in me.
This of course also presumed that Marilyn Monroe singing “happy birthday Mr. president” to JFK, does not count as qualifying her as a female vocalist.
Slaw we are going to have to fight over Neko Case : )

Charlyn Marshall

Tara Jane O’neill
In no peticuliar order
Adele
Whitney Houston
Bonnie Raitt
Carlie Simon
 Natakie Cole

Jackie McShee sp? Sang for a celtic folk-jazz fusion group named Pentangle from the 60's who also happens to be age appropriate and /or Stevie Nicks.

rar1,

I am not sure about money, but you are already Rich. It should account for something.
These are high maintenance items. I seriously doubt the cold hard reality would hold a candle to the fantasy.
Some of ya’ll have nominated dead ones, so I’ll add Tammy Wynette, Amy Winehouse, Eva Cassidy, and (me too) Dusty Springfield (too bad I'm not "her type" ;-).
She doesn't exactly, uh... bat for my team, but if she did it would definitely be Queen Latifah.
.....and now for something completely different.

Wayne County who is now Jayne County......

Could be Emmylou Harris. Or Iris Dement. Or Julie Miller. Or Joan Osborne. Or Carlene Carter. Or Kasey Chambers. Or Rhonda Vincent. Or Patty Loveless. Or Chrissie Hynde, I guess ;-) .
Lifetime mate? How about mating with their music for a lifetime?

From my youth:

Diana Washington singing "Blue Gardenia."

Sarah Vaughn singing "I've got a crush on you," and "A foggy day in London Town."

If we are talking age appropriate:

Rosanne Cash

If we are talking appropriate, if I had money:

Lindi  Ortega
Whitney Rose

It is juvenile, but I'll play along.

Aside from the sound quality of her recordings, I'm a big fan of Diana Krall's music.

It doesn't hurt that she's easy on the eyes too.
Nothing wrong with a bit of light hearted brevity, especially considering the darkness of some threads in this forum.

I would have to say I was bowled over by Ann Wilson decades ago and she would have been my choice.

Of course now I am an old fart , beggars cannot be choosers...lol
