What's the weakest link in my stereo set up? I live in a townhome, so limited on space.
I don't know how good your phono stage is, so I would probably upgrade to Nagaoka MP500 cartridge first. Or perhaps the speakers, but you say you like them.
Does Studer A810 really sound better than Otari MX- 5050 BII2 ?
Outboard tape head preamp, preferably tube, would be the next step, the ultimate set up.
No one talks about Purist Audio Design cables.
And believe it or not, I still use the original Purist Colossus fluid speaker cables. They are probably over 30 years old, I had them refilled with the fluid twice by Purist, more than 10 years ago the last time, I think, and they are an excellent...

If I remember right, Aqueous uses Contego which is sort of a mixture of fluid and Ferox. Never tried them, though. I use old Dominus Ferox power cord with the VAC Avatar SE tube integrated amp with great results.

I have Neptune Luminist Revision RCA interconnects and like them a lot. But it is not exactly neutral cable. Wywires Diamond is overallĀ  better but Neptune has its charm. Huge soundstage and tube like qualities.
Vibration control. Tube equipment. What's the best way to do it ?
sns, what is the difference between Maple and Baltic Birch ? Different sound signature ? I've never used anything but Maple.

larryi, I don't perceive or hear anything wrong, so I suppose it's alright. That's interesting regarding choosing most microphonic tubes, you probably chose them despite that.
How often do you upgrade turntable ?
mke246, now that's a huge jump. What tonearm and cartridge do you use ? And what is your phono stage ?
I often notice that people who have open reel decks and/or tube equipment are nicest
It is a journey. A lot of thought, a lot of effort.
How often do you upgrade turntable ?
noromance, I agree - big steps. awise1961, I really like the Spacedeck, mine has Space arm and Goldring 1042 cartridge. I was thinking about upgrading both the arm and the cartridge but decided to postpone it. It sounds good as it is.
How often do you upgrade turntable ?
I see. That's unusual, I think, to keep a turntable for such a long time. Without perhaps adding another better one.
How often do you upgrade turntable ?
No doubt about your memory, man.

" Not having to process idiocy is indeed calming ". Great way to put it.

Of course, we are good looking, and our equipment may look even better !
