Mick must need the money to support a new girlfriend, and Keith for another blood transfusion.

Just joking. It is Kinda sad, but musicians selling their songs for an TV Ad is even worse. I remember a story that they wanted to buy Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" for a hemorrhoid commercial. Luckily he turned it down. But now when I hear the song, it's hard not to think of hemorrhoids....

Oops, did I ruin that song for anyone else?

Yes @deadhead1000 , I'll never hear that song without thinking of that again.

I hope the coffee isn't as bad as that pathetic song.

Wow, that Johnny Cash story suggests a lot of possibilities for using song titles to sell products.  How about “A Hard Days Night “ and Viagra?

When Microsoft rolled out Windows 95  and used "Start Me Up" the  Bill Gates reportedly paid the Stones $ 14-15 million.

In today's dollars, that's approaching 30 million. Gotta wonder what kind of deal was made for this one.

Perhaps the Stones are also getting royalties every time one of those little Keuring cartridges are getting used like a download or play on the radio?

Mick and Keith are no dummies when it comes to generating CA$H

Bob Dylan doing a lingerie ad and Carlos Santana designing and selling women's purses opened up the flood gates (I would think).

since these songs are decades old and used to rekindle some good feelings for further economic exploitation and it happens so rarely, I don’t take issue. bands that start pumping new releases onto products that draws the noose of commerce  even tighter round yon yokel’s throat this i doth not abide but hey, better than workin for the man ...

How many times have you heard Yello's 'Oh Yeah' in ads over the years? They have made millions with that song.

Glad bluorion mentioned Yello. One of the greatest electronic band ever! Never got the recognition they deserved, so I certainly I'm glad for them that they could cash in on Oh Yeah.

the least they could have done was team up with Nespresso. Much better coffee than Keurig and then they could have rubbed shoulders with Clooney and Devito.

Oh well, they may be zillionaires, but they're going to die just like we are. That's a comfort.

As for ruining the product v. the band, this one to this day makes me wonder WTF the agency was thinking....?! *HUH?! *LOL*

True, only the rhythm and the *$$$* chorus was used, but for those who Knew the F'n song....

...backing a Mazda spot....🙄🤪😆😖😏

" Putney sez..."   "...the Morris D accounts' Got T'Have Soul!"

Right ON,bro'....UhHuh....

...up there w/theApple 'runner w/the sledgehammer spot.....

The 'studio version' of this (without the crowd of 'hangers' was funnier, but was a bit too edgy even then....'Wanna tootsky?"

Read the biography of Edward Bernays and you will know why market publicity ruin the soul of human life...

Publicity is only the visible peak of manipulation of the soul...

Now we go where soon A.I. will be able to fully program human without almost  anything left of us...And some sleepwalkers, ss mephisto workers,  called it more "intelligent" than human, sure, it look like it, but  intelligence without any creative eternal consciousness is organized garbage... What i just wrote can be wrote by any A. I. how did you know ? Imagine how big corporate interests with no country true rooting will use A. I. soon and already had ?

And no i am not a luddite Amish at all ...

Buckle your belt, i just read a book by an Indian scientist a year ago, not only A. I. is possible, but by a new math over neural network math and integrating it, A.C. is possible too : artificial consciousness...The book title is "Nanobrain" ... Perhaps the movie "Blade runner" will give you an idea about A.C. without the needs of any mathematical study...Why creating A.C. ? Something captive of this physical universe and who will be "mortal"? because we own an immortal soul, not A. C. even if he can live a million years...

If you are not immortal, 24 hours or a million years , it is the same duration: it pass with great speed...Think about your life...

No doubt we live the most interesting times from Atlantis sunking in the sea ,if the event was true to begin with; if not think about the Babel Story...We are lucky to see it but many suffers already today and perhaps us tomorrow... A damn luck!

By the way i cannot imagine Beethoven selling the chorus melody of his 9th symphony for sex lubricant company....

Or Chet Baker selling "Funny Valentine" song for a drug company "curing" diarrhea...

But sometimes the power of music as borrowed Strauss Zarathustra theme in Kubrick 2001 movie show us why music play a so great role in mind programmation.. it is unforgettable.. Music and our soul are almost synonymous word for the same phenomena on some level as speech is with the power of hypnosis.. ..

But anyway many artist now are "designed" as a product is...

But as in politic or on the artistic scene or any of us in our life we are puppet or the own master of our craft, it is a free choice.....

The Doors always got my respect for not succumbing to ad revenue.

Guitarist Robbie Krieger was particularly steadfast in resisting the temptation.

One can only imagine what commercials "Light My Fire" would be used for...

I think the pursuit of money is ridiculous passed a certain amount of money which may vary for each people need ( for example i dont need nor i want to travel  others will love it )

i had enough money to live and meditate... i own a marvellous audio system... I need only books and friends...I already had 2 dogs... 🐕🐶

i dont understand an artist already rich who will insult those who venerated and bought his music to listen to it at a CHOSEN and SACRED moment of their choice , who will discover that their artist sold this music for paper toilet company or sardins box publicity and who will listen now to this music abbreviated and repeatedly truncated any time by agressive publicity anywhere... This artist is a shame... Except if he is in very pauper living condition now...

QMS’s Mona has absolutely zero prospect for commercial exploitation. That’s why it remains one of my favorites. That, and the fact I can successfully belt out the vocals regardless of how intoxicated I am.

@mahgister  I like your second post.   I think what happens is lifestyle creep.  Using Mick as an example, He may have 50 million (I assume he is not a saver) - but he has 3 big $ houses, a yacht, and a private jet, plus child support and ex wives.   So his money goes fast and now he needs more just to support his lifestyle to which he has become accustom.  Maybe this type of branded product is an indicator or an artist's money management skills.

When you are older as i am, you pity those who look for money all their life...It is incredibly sad and i am sad for them...

Myself i think some books i read and the friends with who i spoke ,  or Bach "art of the fugue" matter most than anthing without any order of importance because it change everyday...😊

Being rich is fun but much trouble for someone who only like books music and meditating between discussions...But rich people can be very useful too for others and are sometimes...

In my next life i dont want to be rich, i want to be more intelligent and more wise ... Who need money ? When we eat enough and some basic...I am not sure i will be so wise that i will give all my money to the right persons or invest it for others...

The only discovery i make in my life ( a personal very deep philosophical and mathematical discovery change my life) i will never exhange it for any amount of money...

Then.... Money is useless passed some minimal threshold save to hep others ...

It is the same in audio: money is useless without acoustic studies and ex-periments... I laught when people exhibit costly system with no acoustic knowledge...

And i pity those who think music is only entertainment we can buy...

But who am i to judge people?

Nothing...

I just talk almost non sense with a friend here...And only friendship matter...

Hmmm. The OP title makes more sense punctuated this way:

Stoned? Iced coffee!
