One box do it all

Enough of separates. Too many boxes, too many cables, don't care for those anymore.

I am willing to get a simple box that will do for me:
- AMP driving Dynaudio special forty, at least 100W
- Pre Amp for digital and analog
- Needs to have phono input as I still do some 20% listening on those, possibly MC but can live with MM
- Streaming, has to be Roon Ready as most of the time I do Roon or Roon on top of Qobuz
- Budget 2500, can't really stretch it much more than that

Seems like Cambridge EVO 150 and Arcam SA30 fit the bill but I will not get a chance to listen to those comparatively and the reviews (the "honest" ones that I could find) are kind of OKish but several complaints on Arcam stability and not so convincing on Cambridge SQ. NAD C388 also come to mind but doesn't seem to have much of a reputation

Anyone here has had personal experience with those ?

Any alternative that I should consider ?

Thanks a lot for reading so far,

Mark.

This has EVERYTHING you want at a very very good price:

https://parasound.com/hint.php

Even MM and MC input stage, as well as digital.
@ozzy62

Read the OP. This doesn't come close to what he wants.

No. The OP was pretty specific with his budget and his requirements.

it never ceases to amaze me how people can type but cannot read... 😂😂
You have nice speakers, you need to decide whether you enjoy class AB vs class D.

The best overall option for you given budget is Hegel h120 or h190. These have everything except phono. They’re class AB and will certainly drive your difficult to drive dynaudio.  The only drawback is minimalist boring design.

Another option is NAD M10. Excellent piece. This also has everything except phono. It drives anything you throw at it. In fact, I listen to this amp more than my main rig costing 10x more, simply because of ease of use. It sounds superb. Aesthetically it will match your speakers much better than Hegel.  My M10 is always on standby and turns on s soon I stream something via tidal connect or AirPlay. It just makes it so easy to enjoy music. You’ll never regret buying an M10.  NAIM atom is a similar idea, but it’s class AB with only 40W. May not be enough to drive dynaudio. Special 40 is definitely a special speaker.

M33 is obviously better but it’s in a different class and price range. At that price range I’d be looking for a nice class AB integrated, luxman comes to mind. But this is a different level.
I have never heard this, but before I decided to spend more on separates, I considered this receiver by Outlaw:

https://www.cnet.com/tech/home-entertainment/outlaw-audio-rr-2160-the-audiophile-choice-for-stereo-r...

It puts out 110W per channel and reviews well.  Low price allows leeway in selecting a streamer and cables and so on.  The Parasound 200 would be a more powerful option for a bit more money.  Just my two cents.
I recommend the Schiit Ragnarok, even though it doesn't fulfill all your requirements. It costs about $1800 fully loaded which includes mm input and a dac. Just add a streamer and you're done. For example the Node 2i or a Raspberry Pi (I use one with my Ragnarok). You can hide it behind the amp and leave it on.

It is only 60w but I think it can drive the Dynaudio without any problems.

The 2170 made a pair of Cerwin Vega DX9 sound high end with the room correction engaged. They are awesome anyway BTW if you like you rock loud and punchy and clean “ish” Even then needed more power.  I think the amplification section is ok but nothing special. It’s was all about the Room Perfect for me.
@OP

“only rate power over 4 Ohms (why on earth ???) at 170W. to compare apples with apples what would that rate on 8 Ohms ? 85 ? 100 ? In any case being high current it should be able to drive my Special Forty, shouldn’t it ? Any advice here ?”

I had the 2170 and it was GREAT with several speakers. Ran out of gas on some Dynaudio Contour 20s. Ymmv.
Might be so obvious that it's overlooked, but Rotel's top integrated has 200 WPC, a built-in MM phono stage, and streaming capabilities.  And, no, I do not own one.  :-)
Happy listening.
It would be fascinating to see how the four 500 watt transformers, the eight 26,000 mf filter caps, the heart sinks, etc get stuffed into a single cabinet, along with the sub and main preamps and tuners, and CD, and TT, and....
OP

As you build your list, please consider adding Odyssey Audio's integrated unit, Cyclops. Odyssey (Klaus) is in Indianapolis and he builds some high end pieces that IMO are the best buys in audio today. I have his solid state pre, Tempest and it sings!! Integrated unit is around $1k ... which leaves a lot left over! Let us know what ya choose ...

Guys,
So many suggestions, I am overwhelmed !

You are having me all geared up on the Lyngdorf; it would have been my first choice if not for the price.

Now comes a suggestion for the  Lyngdorf 2170, thank you for that, was not aware about that. Seems very promising.

They only rate power over 4 Ohms (why on earth ???) at 170W.  to compare apples with apples what would that rate on 8 Ohms ? 85 ? 100 ? In any case being high current it should be able to drive my Special Forty, shouldn't it ? Any advice here ?

They also have an optional Phono MM board. I can get a gently used one for 2kish + the board I would be in the 2,5 K ballpark, nice !

No streaming capability there but I can use an old Squeezebox I have and connect thru coaxial SPDIF, should come out clean, or use the USB input from a NUC I have nearby where i run the Roon core. Suggestions anyone ?

Thanks again, this has been exceedingly informative.

Mark.
I've heard the NAD C388 with the optional added Bluos module powering PSB T2's. Sounds great, and within your budget. Powering Special 40's should be a breeze.
I’ve never heard one, but PS Audio makes an integrated with a DAC & Streamer for $2999.
It’s called the Stellar Strata.
https://www.psaudio.com/products/stellar-strata/
100wpc @ 8 ohms, digital, analog & balanced inputs...
I saw a used one go for $2400, but it’s only been out for about a year, so there aren’t many used ones out there yet.
They have a trade-in program that may help get the final price under $2500.
The CA Evo might be cool. Many here don’t think too much about AIO systems, and more are not fans of Class D.
The all in one basically mandates class D.
These might just work.
Will you just be selling off your old separated?

I would 2nd (or 3rd) a Lyngdorf.  If you can't swing a used 3400, try the 1120.  It has you covered with a MM phono, streamer and RoomPerfect room correction.  Great sound and run it all from your phone.

Happy listening!
I second samac's recommendation for a Yamaha A-Sxxx integrated amplifier. For stream input, you'll probably want to choose a model with a Toslink input. I believe the Bluesound uses Bluetooth. If you prefer wi-fi, consider the Audioengine B-Fi, which has Toslink output and also line output from its DAC chip.

What about a used Lyngdorf 2170?  Below your stated 100w or more but..it is high current and we all know watts don’t tell the whole tale from mfg. to mfg.  Many say, Naim, for example drive speakers much better than their relatively low wattage designations.

It may be well worth it to explore whether the 2170 can drive the special fourty’s to your satisfaction.  Used ones might be a great way to go.

I know a Dyn dealer that also carries Lyngdorf who is very knowledgeable.  I’m sure he has an opinion on the matter.

Re: roon.  Not sure what add on options there are and the cost of such.

Best of luck
NAD M33 is everything you want plus Dirac Live room correction.  200 wpc into both 4 and 8 ohms, stable down to 2 ohms.  Purifi’s brand new Eigentact amplification with nearly unmeasurable distortion and amazing uncolored sound.  $5k new, used ones trickle on the market around $4k. Save up a little more and you’ll thank me.
2) 100W is actually only a marginal increase in volume from 40/50W

Yeah I know, been wondering about that. What worries me is not volume but potential distortion.
@ozzy62 Thanks for your input as I am looking into a dedicated listening room that would probably include one of the above.
Regards
at that price, i wonder if your 100W minimum reuriement is limiting your selection needlessly. I wont get into it but a) ratings are often somewhat misleading, 2) 100W is actually only a marginal increase in volume from 40/50W and it takes a lot of units out of contention.
I'd also look for Roon ready but NOT a Roon streamer (stream from your PC). OF course you could also stuff a raspberry pi with roon bridge in front of it.
@ozzy62 would you include the higher end integrateds in your evaluation as well? Boulder 866, Gryphon Diablo 300, Simaudio 700vi2?

No. The OP was pretty specific with his budget and his requirements. There have been several suggestions that don't meet them all, needing to add either a phono stage or a streamer. My contention is that a one box solution at 2500.00 will have to compromise something, and that something is more than likely sound quality. All of the ones you mention are way above his budget, and most of them don't have everything he wants.

I use what I consider to be a high end integrated by Allnic, but it's just that, only an integrated. None of the other fluff.......

"This alternative provides an even smaller footprint than the BS Node, no power cord, and a display. Plus, the iOS device is fully portable. And you may find the SQ superior (though I’ve never compared it to the latest version of the Node)"

One advantage to this is if you use Apple Music you can play in Hi-res as long as it is connected directly to the DAC. You can control it with any other iOS device and also stream to other systems hooked up the same way or with airplay built in.

HOWEVER you can't currently do this from a Mac or Windows computer nor Android device as iOS is the only platform that matches output to the Apple Music bit rate (thanks Apple!!)

The other issue is streaming from that device will be limited to 16/44 or 16/48 by Airplay. Most of their music is CD quality so this shouldn't be too big of a fail (like their MacOS and Windows poor switching software). But if you're using Roon...
@ozzy62 would you include the higher end integrateds in your evaluation as well? Boulder 866, Gryphon Diablo 300, Simaudio 700vi2?
Peachtree Nova 150 or 300 bundled with a Bluesound NODE would get you there with an MM phonostage

Another way to go would be to plug an iOS device directly into the Nova, using a lightning-to-USB cable. Peachtree designed the Nova 2.0 series for direct input from lightning devices. In this set-up, you can configure the iOS device to be a Roon endpoint. Or play directly from the iPad/iPhone/iPod_Touch.

This alternative provides an even smaller footprint than the BS Node, no power cord, and a display. Plus, the iOS device is fully portable. And you may find the SQ superior (though I’ve never compared it to the latest version of the Node).
I'd look for a used Parasound Halo Int, everything but the streaming and great sound quality to boot. Nice built in dac, solid phono section, plenty of current. Truly a jack of all trades. Add a Bluesound Node2i and you are off and running, er listening....
All,
Why so many inputs ! Thanks a lot really ! Lots of homework for me.
Seems like within my budget I’ll end up with 2 boxes, OK, better than 4 or 5.

Nad 658 + power amp looks like a nice option, also M10.

Parasound Integrated 200 looks absolutely great but is not distributed here where I am (Italy)

I am intrigued by the NuPrime and I see they have also an Omnia A300 that seem more suited to my needs. Just one line input and no Phono though...

Lyngdorf would have been my first choice but list price here is around 6KEuro for the  TDAI3400, like 7K$. Didn't see any used but if they come up they will go for around 5, way beyond my budget.  TDAI 1120 is well within my budget but I am worried it will be under powered for my Special 40.

No thoughts on the CA EVO anyone ?

Thanks again,

Mark
Preowned Parasound Hint 6 gets you all the goods, less streamer. Add a Node and you should be able to hit really close to 2500.00. If you look for the earlier Halo version, you could definitely get where you want to be budget wise.
See about a used Lyngdorf TDAI3400. Does it all and then some more with Room Correction software too. Sounds superb. Has a phono input option, or go cheaper with a new TDAI 1120

+1 on Parasound NewClassic 200 integrated.
I sold my separates and got this last Spring and don't miss them one bit.
Great SQ... clean, musical and nicely resolved output with power for most speakers out there.
The phono stage holds it's own against my previous, Project Tube Box S2.
Only thing missing is a streamer...I'm using a Node 2i connected to the DAC in the Parasound via coaxial cable.

Parasound NewClassic 200 integrated $1195
Bluesound Node $545

The Hint 6 comes in closer to $3000, offering balanced inputs, A/AB amplification courtesy of John Curl, slightly improved DAC, 160 wpc @ 8 ohms and 240 wpc @ 4 ohms. Still needs a streamer.

Audio Advisor is currently selling the NAD M10 for $2499 (plus tax).  I think that box does everything you want.
NAD T778.
Does more than you want but can be pared down to stereo or 2.1
Also a tad over budget but the pickins are slim...

If you COULD go separates (slightly) check out the NAD c658 and a decent power amp or integrated with preamp input.

As mentioned above there are lots of options at that price if you eliminate the phono-stage. None that I know of with a decent phono-stage.

There's a guru snoozin' in a limousine
And a whole industry pumping blood into recycled scenes
There'll be one corporation selling one little box
It'll do what you want and tell you what you want and cost whatever you got

for 2500 i would get a hegel h120 (list is 3000, available from retailers at 2500 or close to it)

superb sound and power, excellent build

the hegel h160 mentioned by @soix is an excellent amp, but the dac is a bit old now, newer hegels have a cleaner more dimensional dac section

you will need a phono stage though, as hegels do not have one built in

for less money, slightly less pure sound, but very nice build and form factor, i second @soix suggestion of a nuprime ida-8

the above are superior to nad, cambridge and arcam imo, you will hear the difference on your spec 40s
however…you can build one heck of a good system around it’s core functionality and sonics..

https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/7100#&gid=1&pid=5

good luck on your journey

Jim
Only the NAIM Atom is in budget, has 40 mule kicking watts and 1 analog input, so separate phono box required. it is a ROON endpoint only, so you would need ROON core running somewhere on the network as I do.
Personally, I’m intrigued by the new Marantz Model 30. It’s above your budget, and you won’t get streaming. Looks like it has everything else you mentioned.
Peachtree Nova 150 or 300 bundled with a Bluesound NODE would get you there with an MM phonostage.
There is a slick looking Technics integrated for $2500 worth consideration that I think can check all the boxes and more with a separate streamer. The auto speaker impedance matching feature is unique and intriguing.

Technics SU-G700 Stereo Integrated Amplifier Reviewed - HomeTheaterReview
There’s a Hegel H160 for $1800 that’d be good.

https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649769280-hegel-h160-integrated-with-dac/

You could get a NuPrime IDA-8 new for $1250 that’d fit your requirements as well.

https://nuprimeaudio.com/product/ida-8/

Best of luck.
Yes, my suggestion was valid. Although I didn't offer any advice on what to buy, I did offer advice to think about what you give up in order to achieve what you say you want. Just a thought........

Given your needs for a 'true' all in one, and your budget, don't discount going with a previous gen flagship receiver, even if you will only drive two channels. Yamaha, Marantz, etc.
ozzy, do you have any useful suggestion ?
PS Audio sprout is 100 W on 4 ohms and only 50 on 8, so it will not do.
Anyone actually heard / used any of the above ?
