Would you still pay $10k or more for a turntable not full analog front end these days ?
I think to simply put a 10k number on “just a table” is kind of silly. The better question is, would you spend 10k on an analog setup, full table etc, maybe even include the phono stage?  To answer the above, yes I would. My analog setup is my go...
ultrasound record cleaning machine damaged my records
The Audio Desk units can be repaired. It’s the pump that dies. I’ve done it. It takes some doing and a bit of creativity, but it can be done. There are several threads here on Agon discussing the procedure.
Anyone listen to entire albums?
Rarely streaming, nearly every night on vinyl. At least one.
Music first or sound first?
Something to consider… if it weren’t for the music, we wouldn’t even be having this discussion. The music came first.
Benchmark Media Systems. Right or wrong
I have an LA4 and AHB2 fantastic combo for the money and expandable if desired. One thing about Benchmark that I like is they don’t use the word salad terms a ton of companies use. They actually test AND listen to their products and others. They c...
Should we care if a piece of equipment comes from a pet-free, kid-free, smoke-free home?
I’ve got grandkids, a dog all that. No worries. Smoke… no go. Period.
Picture Discs
Yeah, picture discs can be ok… but not much better. I’ve got multiple colored vinyl. Black chips are becoming harder to get. I like the fun factor and sound quality isn’t an issue if the pressing itself is worth anything.
Music first or sound first?
Being a drummer, music for me. Sound is important for sure, it’s all got to hit the buttons. But I enjoy music on my system, in the car, headphones, live, you name it. The thing providing the sound is not the end all be all. Music first.
Has anyone tried to launch a for sale ad here, lately?
I’m not sure I would go so far to say hostile, but not particularly seller friendly for sure. As others, I buy here, but don’t sell anymore. The fee structure is a bit “challenging”.
The receiver was my intro to HiFi! What say you?
I had a Fisher all in one setup as a teenager. TT and all, thought it was the best thing ever. When I was all growed up, my first “real” system was a Polk Audio setup with towers etc. Then Marantz/B&W (I still have as my second setup) and then...
Should Amps be plugged into a power conditioner?
It depends… it depends on the “conditioner” it depends on real world needs. I live in Colorado where lightning is very real, even in winter at times… (thunder snow) all of my gear is plugged into some sort of protected system. The big stuff a Shin...
BAT VK3500 vs. Hegel H590
I did, it’s quite good. But I’m a tube fan when it comes to phono stages. The unit as a whole is excellent. I let it go as I needed a new cartridge and wanted the Hana Umami Red and a couple of other things, so selling it to TMR allowed me to cove...
BAT VK3500 vs. Hegel H590
@macg19  small world… you bought mine!
BAT VK3500 vs. Hegel H590
@macg19 curious, where did you get the T+A?
My experience with The Music Room
TMR is located in Denver. I’ve had a tour of their facility there. It is truly top notch. Quite impressive. Highly recommend them.
