Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord?
Considering the many, many brands of power cords I've tried in my very well accomplished high-end system, I have never been so impacted by these Core Power Technology power cords. Within a very short period(15-20) minutes my system literally came alive. Soundstage opened wider and deeper. The background became dead silent, space between instruments and stage members were more focused and everything sounded cleaner and musical than ever. My highs had a glorious crispness and symbols shimmered. Midrange through my 2" horn became more dynamic and punchy. My 15" bass driver tightened and dug low with great control. My Rel G1 which is a fabulous sub on its own but with a CPT 150 on it is another story. Running high pass from my sub to my Audiozen Noah amplifier, music depth is just stunning. Lower end bass is authoritative and clean with solid grip and impact. My experience with these power cords is truly magical. The scary part of the above is I only have one 150 on my sub and one 300 from my wall to my 6 outlet bar. I still need 3 more to complete my system. I could just imagine the level after that...In closing, I cannot emphasize enough to try one of these in your system. I CANNOT and WIIL NOT take these out as they are that good. But hold your jaw, cuz what you've been listening to will just become real after Core Power Technologies.
Today I have updated and prepared a very complete list with the help of our CPT Status e-mail with those that require refunds and/or wish to receive complete (or promised) product.
I will be in touch with each of you individually to go over exactly what can be expected and when. I can finally say with a measure of certainty when this will all happen.
As this is a forum and not CPT’s place – more will be said to each of you individually.
We are very excited about the sale and equally grateful. Plans are being made for moving forth.
Brian, as exciting as this announcement sounds, I noticed the conditional language of the first paragraph of the press release: “EXOGAL Audio announced today that they are in the process of acquiring the Equi-Core and Deep-Core product lines from Core Power Technologies.” (Emphasis added.)
It's close to final but some details need to be worked out. I am not involved in the agreement, only sharing what is available.
It could take a few weeks, but the arrangement will enable people to get product.
I believe Mark and Lynn will provide either product or refunds to those who have patiently waited. Mark, Lynn and their family suffered this past year with unfortunate health issues ( no joke ), and was unable to complete obligations, nor, properly the continuation of running the company effectively. I, too, am waiting for an order to be fulfilled and completed, but I suppose I do believe in 2nd chances ( I was called out on this in an earlier post of mine ). They are fine people, and I could not be happier for them, as the weight on their shoulders have been lifted ( they still deal with all the health issues ). I suppose when a family suffers health issues, it is easier to see it in other families. I am not looking for derogatory comments, insults or anything like that. Nor, am I making excuses for them. If I am no longer " liked " by any of you because of this post, I am ok with that. I have lost thousands of dollars by crooks, ex friends I lent money to, etc. I understand. But this is how I see it. Blessed Holidays to all. Enjoy ! MrD.
I've actually followed this thread since the beginning.
I know what a lot of you have gone through with products and refunds and Deep Core, et al and to be honest, we had our own issue with CPT at AXPONA last year. But we've always loved the products, we've used them at Trade Shows and in our lab and we think they're a good value for customers and they perform well.
To the language of the Press Release: That's just CEO-speak for publications. I'm a much more plain-spoken jerk in real life. But the terms of the deal are ironed out and all that's left is for Mark and I to sign the Purchase Agreement, which should happen once lawyers are done making things unreadable. As to why the first two deals to buy CPT fell apart, they just weren't the right deals for those partners at that time. This is the right deal for us at this time. Don't read too much into deals being discussed and falling apart. In the last 20+ years of my career, I've been a part of buying companies and of selling them. I can tell you that failed deals outnumber executed deals 5-1.
As to the terms of the deal, you're spot-on that we are buying the products that we want to add to our product line and also not buying others. This is a common type of acquisition. It leaves CPT, LLC in Mark and Lynn's hands to do other things with if they choose. And yes, it does limit our liability but that's not any different from any other acquisition. To be blunt, only dumb people buy other people's problems. That's just a good rule for life and not a commentary or editorialization on CPT!
As to Deep Core, you can rest assured that before we sell any of them, we will make sure that it's rock-solid, effective, and worth having our name and reputation on.
And for those of you owed products or refunds, we're going to be working with Mark and Lynn to make sure that every single one of you gets taken care of. We've spent six long, hard years building a reputation as a solid company that listens to, and takes care of its customers. We're not going to jeopardize that. We want to see the drama around all of this come to a swift end.
I know there is a lot of lingering anger around CPT and hopefully we can put it all to bed quickly. But it isn't going to happen overnight - we have a lot of work to do to move it from CPT into EXOGAL. Be patient and have a little trust and give everyone a chance to make things right.
So I got my Chinese balanced isolation transformer from AliExpress yesterday and has been burning in since. It's showing an open ground on the outlets so that's probably proof that it's running balanced.
Anyway, first listening experience is that there's an improvement in soundstage imaging front-to-back, my reference classical CD (Le Sacre Du Printemps XRCD24) I believe shows better separation between instrument sections and the brass are better defined -- also I believe decays are longer / more audible. Mind you this could be in my head and there's been a few other changes in my setup too so this bears further investigation so this impression shouldn't be taken as definitive truth yet.
Thanks for sharing madavid0, mine shipped last week. I hope it's good enough for my tv system as the Equicore Son of Q will not be leaving my main rig. I love it! Balanced power does wonders.
It's good to see Marks mess will hopefully get cleaned up by Exogal. I only say hopefully as all the i's aren't dotted and t's crossed yet.
Maybe I'll get a Deepcore yet......once Exogal has totally completed the acquisition of it. Keep us posted Hugh!
Exogal wants to make things right if mark wont be able to, but at the same time they don't want to buy other peoples problems... here we are still getting screwed while marky mark and the funky bunch want to play with our money, awesome.
Sorry Hugh, your post was right under Jeff's from Exogal. It's Jeff that I want to keep us posted on Deepcore!
Sure Mark will say he's going to take care of all the customers he owes money. He's good at making such promises, not so much at keeping them. Not sure if Exogal has any mechanisms in place to ensure that those promises are made.....but the deal isn't finalized yet so maybe they will.
My chinese balanced transformer arrives today, I'll try it out on the plasma and let everyone knows how it works out. For those looking for a great balanced power conditioner until Exogal can transfer every thing over to them, check out Equitech. They were the pioneers of balanced power. Their Son of Q has transformed my system.
You know we think that the CPT 1800 is such a great design. And for what it does it is great. But many important design choices were made so it could be built as cheap as possible.
If Exogel purchased the design then here is what they bought.
Inside the unit is a very cheap breaker ($1.50 at Parts Express, along with the IEC). The outlets (at about $2 each at Home Depot). The wiring is daisy chained from outlet to outlet. Which means that the last outlet is getting power from whatever is left over.
The transformer used is the claim to fame. If we could find that transformer the rest of the parts would add up to under $50 total! The case is overkill to give the impression of weight.
I went ahead and eliminated the breaker, and daisy chain wiring with high quality 12 gauge wire directly from the transformer. I also replaced the outlets and inlet with Furutech GTX Nano’s.
Not much soldering is usually required for something as simple as what ozzy is describing. Daisy-chained outlets only require twist-on splice caps, as do connections to the transformer. Maybe the fuse holder requires soldering but twist-on caps might work there.
@mental If I remember correctly, it came out that that power cord was sourced from China, and its twin brother could be found on Amazon and/or ebay. Note that it's not mentioned in the Exogal purchase agreement.
Patrick Cullen and Cullen Cables have nothing to do with CPT and never have. The cable that Mark was selling is being sold on Amazon by WAudio whoever it is sourced from in China. Order one and try it as you have 30 days to send it back if you don't think it is the same cable. As you discovered Furutech is a Japanese company.
The Chinese balanced power supply came in and is a very solidly built and nice looking unit. Plugged my plasma into it and the picture quality improved nicely. Out of curiosity I tried it in my audio rig with my transport, DAC and pre amp and was pleasantly surprised by how good it sounded. It's not up to par with my Equitech Son of Q by any means but for those on a tight budget that want to clean up their power you can't go wrong for less than $200 shipped.
I have four Cullen power cables in my system and the are excellent in every way. The two Cullen Crossover Series ll power cables I have are high-end in sound and build quality.
@mental I misunderstood/misread your original post. I thought you were referring to CPT, as this is a CPT thread. CPT marketed a power cord, and the link was to the Amazon twin.
My comments had nothing to do with Cullen--he wasn't in my mind, and I certainly didn't make any allegations. Ironically, in fact, I am the happy owner of 3 Cullen PCs. He makes them up himself, obviously based on cable sourced from somewhere. They are good quality and perform well.
I used Military spec 12 gauge silver/copper stranded wiring. I purchased around 100 feet in different colors a few years back off of eBay. I also used Furutech nano liquid on all the connections.
And yes, all in all it was a huge upgrade in sound quality. I have my 2 mono block tube amps now plugged into it along with other pieces of equipment. The amps used to sound better plugged directly into the wall but since the mod they sound way better plugged into the revised 1800.
It’s likely that the sorts of post-market mods Ozzy did for his CPT 1800 would have similar benefits on other conditioners. But those Furutech GTX Nano outlets are quite expensive.
Ozzy isn't afraid to spend money on upgrades, that's one of the many aspects I like about him ;-)! The wire upgrade, direct wiring and upgrade of the IEC isn't too expensive and no doubt a good way to go.
Does the direct wiring from the transformer really have that good of an effect? My 1800 was upgraded by Mike at Tweek Geek with Furutech wiring and NCF receptacles and when I took a peek inside it was daisy chained like my stock one.
