thank you for chiming in and posting a system
we long timers have a different attitude when it comes this site

I think people post and share as much as they are comfortable doing so. Some people don’t really want to partake or interact as much as others. I have patipipated and had get togethers and listening sessions that goes far beyond what some audiophiles here would care to do. I think it’s all fine. The level or extent you are willing to share is up to you. I think the bots and ones that pose questions just to get an argument really bother me more......now that I think about it. |

@kota1 , Man, honestly. You are really making a fool of yourself. |

@coralkong @dabel I agree. This is 8th grade BS. Let's get back to being real men and ladies, enjoy our music and kit, and have some great conversations. Post your system pics or don't, it really does not matter to me, i see it as a personal choice. I'll enjoy talking to any member, with any system or gear irrespective of cost, room, or religious/political beliefs. I happen to be one who enjoys posting pics of the modest system and things HIFI I've built over the years, but that's just me. I'm no more or less concerned about someone coming into my home and lifting my system, (either when I lived in a higher crime area of my city, or out in the country as I do now). If someone wants to try, have at it. |
i agree this thread has pretty much run its course and the juvenile idiocy displayed here has been quite unpleasant (that sad character, with over 2000 posts - most rude and insulting - in less than two years 'since joining' is absurd, bordering on psychotic) let’s hope for a better sense of citizenry and decorum in future postings |
Untreated rooms have an uneven frequency response, I meant using room treatments. You can see what I mean if you check out my virtual system, I posted Anthony Grimani's "acoustic recipe". For those of you following along who are concerned about the WAF they make panels that are also decorative, I just used Auralex panels like they would treat a studio with. https://www.soundonsound.com/sound-advice/beginners-guide-acoustic-treatment |
Regardless of where this thread went, there’s been 40 + 1 additional systems added to the Virtual Systems page since OP started the thread - that’s pretty good IMO. Not all of these additions can be attributed to this thread, but still. I definitely respect those who haven’t or won’t - we all have are valid reasons. +1 = @xenolith significant efforts towards his virtual system. Still making me chuckle over here. |
@kota1 yes, that and housetraining puppies. I also have a room in my basement that is treated with acoustic ceiling tile, foam back wall, corner foam in the front, and a tube trap. I think i posted pics of that as well here on AG |
@kota1 Just looked at your virtual system post. Now that's a treated room! What i have in my basement room is mild by comparison. |
Yep, talk about WAF, she said it was either her or the room treatments and I guess you can see how that worked out.😁 Seriously, I found a great video series of interviews of Anthony Grimani who was also nice enough to exchange e-mail with me. I also received some helpful advice on treating a room for immersive audio from the Dubstage Studios AND Wilhelm Van Balen (owner of Galaxy studios and founder of Auro 3D). The basic blueprint I followed was the Grimani "recipe" which you see I posted as well. Check the :49 minute mark in this video: https://www.youtube.com/live/G0ekssXX7rE?feature=share

Very nice system @nonoise thanks for reposting your pics! |
@nonoise Yes thanks for posting, inquiring minds want to know. Cool system and pics. |
@kota1 just my brandy collection and yes I do. |
You have an incredibly well curated list of components, are you happy with the end result? It seems the MLP is too far back from your pic.
|
@thecarpathian thanks. And how do you post your own photos? |
@kota1 thanks a bunch. I always thought cj’s gold champagne color was classy - same with Shindo’s color scheme with their green exterior and gold knobs. |
@toro3 Brother, I really dig your aesthetic.. Some great pics and a beautiful pup! |
@thecarpathian Thank you. |
@doyle3433 oh man greatly appreciate the compliment. I remember repeatedly checking out your systems with the Volti Razz and Heresy’s- that’s right up my alley. Ditto on all accounts (dog for cat). |
@thecarpathian all I see is help/email preferences/edit profile/logout. Where is this virtual system option? |
All the best,

I spent a great deal of time on here before posting my system learning and planning what I wanted to buy. I literally had nothing but a Sansui receiver and some old Dynaco speakers. It sounded ok but I wanted to learn. I will say I checked the virtual system of almost anyone who posted advice to see where they leaned on the audio spectrum and to see if they practiced what they preached. It took many years of patience and planning to get where I’m at now. I do think it is our responsibility to further this hobby by sharing all that we can once that valuable experience has been gained. There are many ways to set up systems and enjoy them. I’ve listened to many that sound great which are very different from mine. I also encourage everyone to develop and update their virtual systems so that others can see what decisions we make and that there is a path to what they are looking for. I welcome anyone to PM me and ask what my process is, that is what this site is about. I don’t want this hobby to disappear in the throws of self righteousness because people are arguing that there is only one path to audio nirvana. . . Everyone’s senses interpret the world differently. Sound is one of the few things that enters our brains with no filters or “cannons” that we compare. It is pure emotive joy which is similar to the emotional power of color field paintings. This is what makes this hobby so interesting in my opinion. So take a few minutes and show what you’ve got and let us know what you’d like to do. . . I am very excited about my new dspNexus crossover. I just finished building my system in Audio Weaver, and am about to do surgery on all my cords to cut them to length and re-solder my balanced connectors back on. I can rid myself of the mini DSP terminal block. I’ll be re-measuring my room at 192K and will have twice the fidelity with measurable real time processing. It’s going to be a big weekend! I wish you all the best on your own journeys. - Steve |
