The Absolute Sound posts a video about a new product development from Magnepan, but... I use four subs to support my 20.1s. Two Kinergetics towers with five 10” Seas in individual enclosures powered by a Pass X-250. I also have two 16” sealed SVS SB-16 Ultras to fix the room modes. They integrate seamlessly and I vertically bi-amp m...
AXPONA 2024 I mentioned to those that asked how great it was to see so many people at the show this year, the hobby is alive! Went back twice to hear the Magico A5s - Just super impressed at the range, coherence, soundstage, effortlessness with which they p...
He spent his life building a $1 million stereo. The real cost was unfathomable. I appreciated and admired Ken’s system for years and enjoyed the video made a long time ago by his younger son. I wondered about many of the things that this article brought to light when learning that the system was sold for a pittance. I am glad...
Sansui? My first receiver was a Sansui bought from my friend’s dad. I owned and played it for 15 years and passed it onto a new home. Loved the sound of it! - Steve
Benchmark or McIntosh.... Love my Benchmark amps, they are vertically bi-amped to my 20.1 Maggie’s and play concert levels in my home with crazy lifelike detail. I only have 4 subs but it sounds wonderful. I don’t think you could go wrong with Benchmark. . . - Steve
Getting 2 subs One more suggestion for integration, have two matched pairs of subs: Tower Kinergetics SW-800 and two SVS SB-16 Ultras and measure the room with Room EQ Wizard and plug those measurements into Multi Sub Optimizer to get my 12 biquads on each speak...
Why the fascination with subwoofers? @soundsrealaudio Haha, love it. @kennymacc - Totally understandable, it’s a pain to integrate subs and if not done correctly can make things much worse than enhance the music. - Steve
Why the fascination with subwoofers? Hi @kennymacc Just curious, why don’t you like them? I have 20.1 Maggie’s which are “full range” but they can’t touch my system with my fully integrated subs. It’s breathtaking, visceral, and seamless. I will say that before I had four and u...
Bacch Dsp, True stereo? @emergingsoul If you go to this link you can see all the parts and how it interfaces into your system through pull down menus within the system diagram. https://www.theoretica.us/bacch4mac/ @asctim Yes I agree getting the room corrected is ke...
Bacch Dsp, True stereo? There won’t be any challenges to implement it in my system because it is entirely active and it will be plug and play. The only challenge is money, like many things. I did feel it was important to get the room corrected and have the highest level ...
Bacch Dsp, True stereo? @emergingsoul Crosstalk is the reason we aren’t fooled into believing that we are not in a live environment. Hearing content coming from the right speaker with your right ear is expected and the time it takes to travel across your face to your le...
Bacch Dsp, True stereo? I built my entire system on the principles of Dr. Edward Choueiri. I read about BACCH when I first started building my system and tried some music processed by the BACCH system and it was amazing using the suggested set up and placement of speaker...
Why the fascination with subwoofers? Hi Everyone, I just wanted to let you know I’ve just finished setting up my system with my new dspNexus crossover which operates 8 channels at 192K. Each channel has extremely high quality DACs and the DSP I was able to attain with my subs i...
Why HiFi manufacturers don't make active crossovers anymore? Hi Everyone, Happened to be looking through my threads I’ve participated in and thought you’d all be interested in my recent experience with a new crossover being made by Danville Signal Processing, the dspNexus. I met the CEO at AXPONA and v...
Why Don’t You Post Your System on Your Profile? @kota1 If I were advising someone to try this path I would advise them to get a MiniDSP UMIK-1 or 2 which is a simple but high quality USB microphone. Using a phantom powered mic can be more accurate but it is trickier to set up in Room EQ Wizar... |
